The thing about SHINee is that they are all great performers, idols, and artists. However, JongHyun, in my opinion, is one of the few idols who are just one of those people who are naturally born to shine and be an entertainer. People like JongHyun just take up a stage and know how to work a crowd or camera differently, all while setting trends and breaking barriers.

What Koko3op said about Jonghyun is right. Everyone is phenomenal but he was the heart, which is why the way they were able to pick up the pieces and continue on was amazing.

For me Jonghyun is soul music..if you check his albums later, you're going to understand what I'm saying. Shinee is like a body whose members are all connected and needed, they complement perfectly each other and everyone have their place in the group. Also they're excellent performers and artists. ❤

This performance of "Excuse Me Miss" was from their SHINee World Concert IV (SWC4) in Seoul, so it was in 2015. However, I think the song was originally released in 2013. This is the concert where the majority of SHINee's best live performances are from. (It's the same concert their "Ode to You" and "Dynamite" performances you watched are from.) If you watch this full set or, even the full concert, you will see why Jonghyun goes into that phone booth at the end. They are about to perform their next song, "One minute back." And you also really need to see their performance of "Close the Door," Which they performed right before "Excuse Me Miss." As you heard, SHINee are known for their live vocals and amazing dancing. They are known as CD-quality singers for a reason. :D As you may know, SHINee always sings live. The ONLY thing they are not good at is lip syncing so they avoid it at all costs, so when you hear SHINee singing 95% of the time it will be live. They have trained their entire career to be able to sing live and always sound flawless while performing extremely complex choreography like this. SHINee live is like none other, and their stages are some of the best in the industry. Their concerts last 3 to 4 hours straight and they perform nonstop and never sound out of tune or out of breath. They are also one of the best dancers in Kpop and they have some of the best harmonies you will ever hear. SHINee literally set the standard when it comes to live performances. It is actually known as the SHINee standard and it's what all other groups strive to reach. SHINee are Idol's Idols and legends among legends. They are one of the groups that pretty much made Kpop what it is today. You should take the time to watch this whole concert sometime. I get goosebumps every time I listen to this stage. I think Jonghyun was the essence of SHINee in terms of their craft music wise because he was exceptionally in tuned with his musical prowess that he ends up shining light even onto his members. SHINee made my Standard high, and I found them since 2011..

I've always thought Jonghyun's voice to be something else... like it's very powerful without having to go super high (though he can and does), and it's also a very masculine voice without being overly deep or gravely. Like that's a man's voice. But it's also very sweet and comforting (kinda like IU's, which is why I love Gloomy Clock with the two of them), and also very sultry and sexy without being aggressive. For a long time, my heart ached whenever I heard Jonghyun's voice, but now I just enjoy it for the beautiful gift that it is and take comfort in how much he loved performing and sharing his music, both his voice and lyrics.

This was my 1st live performance vidoe that i saw, after that I kept shouting Say SHINeeeee chant

I love SHINee with all my heart and I'm ready to do whatever for Taemin (all of them really) but Jonghyun is something else. He resonates with my soul. And sometimes I hate myself when I realize I'll never be able to see and feel his live performances. But it's been said we stan at the time we need them, so I have to accept things as they are. This is one of my favorite SHINee live performances. It was the one that also taught me all their names too. As for Key--all I can say is Keeeey! He is my bias for sure!

If I have to compare, I’d describe Jonghyun as a more outward performer who engages with the crowd. While Taemin, for instance, on the other hand, is more inward. It’s like he creates his own world and lures us in. Both are dangerous, of course 😂 (I’m only talking about two of them since they are the two that have had more solo gigs)

I told you my brain short-circuited on this one, especially because of Key. 😜😜 And SHINee inventing twerking before it was even a thing. Minho mimics Jonghyun's "New Bridge" and although he was just joking around, he actually hits the same notes as Jonghyun's. Jonghyun is indeed something special in a group of already brilliant artists. From what I've read, Jonghyun encouraged singing together and songwriting collaborations and led his members in pushing artistic and creative boundaries.

Oh, Onew is dangerous af. You have to watch out for him. Believe me when I say, he is the most dangerous in SHINee because everyone else just shows how flirtatious they are, but Onew shows it once in like a year and it H I T S so hard.

Taemin is my ultimate bias and his performance always is so amazing, and onew, key and minho can dominate any stage, but jonghyun is the best performer in shinee, hands down. Also about onew, there's a reason why a lot of female idols pointing him as their fav/bias/ideal 😌

SHINee is a whole package for real for real. Tbh Taemin does so great for his solo. But I agree that in SHINee, Jonghyun is the star. He stands out to me the most. Probably why he's the center.

This is just two of SHINee, but I think the difference between Jonghyun and Taemin are the focus of their artistry and talent. They are both phenomenal artists and performers. For me, whereas Jjong was a very good dancer, he will always be the best vocalist in Kpop, while Taemin can sing beautifully and has a gorgeous voice, he is the best dancer in Kpop. Jonghyun’s songs are vocal focused and most of the ones I love from him are quite emotional, sad but comforting at the same time. I feel like being comforted cause at least someone understood. Taemin on the other hand, most of his songs are dance heavy tracks where he can showcase his exceptional dancing. Also, while I find Jonghyun songs are easy to understand cause they deal more with emotions and life. Taemin’s songs and MVs have very specific themes and concepts that you need to dissect and analyze.

2:30 and 5:03 the chemistry between Jonghyun and Taemin is incredible, someone said "eye sex." Never seen Taemin connect so well in any of his collaborations. Jonghyun is the most "human" of SHINee members, the one who really reaches out emotionally to others and knows how to interact and look at people's eyes. He is the most naturally flirty of the 5. BTW, Minho, best legs in the industry.

SHINee are all bias wreckers, haha. This whole concert is probably my favouirte. Theres too many iconic performances from it. All five of them were looking fine! I understand why you're struggling to pick a bias, when you have these five. If Taemin wasn't my ultimate, then I wouldn't be able to pick a bias in SHINee. They're all so skilled, hardworking, and all have such great qualities. They really are something special.
