Developed by Sonic! Software Planning (now Camelot), Shining Force II is a 1993 tactical RPG for Sega Genesis (Mega Drive) that first came to the West in 1994. It has seen numerous re-releases over the years, often as part of Genesis compilations.

Love the SF series. If you want to check out the SF Gaidens, look at Shining Force CD. it's a remake of the two Gaidens. Even better get a Saturn and play a patched SF 3.👍

One rpg that happens to have tactical battles is Energy Breaker for the Super Famicom. Don't worry there are still a lot of good srpgs/trpgs. I like that the strategy to rpg ratio can differ greatly and offer unique experiences even within the same genre.

I was surprised how well the Steam versions of Shining Force held up. It's a shame they ran the franchise into the ground.

Got I adored this game as a kid. I played it multiple times. It was pure magic for me in every way. I'm so happy to hear others love it as much as I did.

I wish I knew the famicom JRPG that is like this with the radiational world and strategy gameplay lol. Sega fans talk up Shining Force alot but backlogs are backlogs in that they will never get caught up on lol.

I played this as a teenager and I loved this game so much! I was inspired by the primary character's transformation and I grew my hair out (long) as well.
