Quick video showing the final battle against Dark Sol in Shining in the Darkness for the Sega Genesis / Mega Drive. All characters are at level 99 (which is the cap) with all the best equipments.
This is played on the Nintendo Switch with Sega Genesis Classics.

Nice work on the grind, went through this first time in 2021 which really shows the old shining games have aged well. Gotta love an jrpg where having level 99 doesnt mean you're getting 999 or 9,999 on your HP or MP bars :D. Besides SMT series. No other modern jrpg does level 99 with stats that aren't all 9s. It's just a nitty thing I like in rpgs and a thing i nit pick with the whole 9,999 thing.

I did the same thing... and I even kept the 3 companions you can pick up as I deliberately avoided them prior. This way, I attacked dark sol with 6 people instead of 3. The ogre does some damage but the princess and elf do minimal amounts. Worth noting, if you keep the princess in your party when winning, it changes the dialogue in the throne room. She mentions wanting to go back out with you and fight some more....lol. You can finish without rescuing the princess at all. Although she is still in the throne room for story purposes, she is officially still imprisoned. When you are there in the end in the throne room. she still there but said the spirit of your father came and saved her as the labyrinth collapsed.

I was happy to have found a little bonus (or two) that perhaps wasn't widely known. : ) I still love the game...great video!!! : ) PS/// one other experiment I did was using the "forbidden box" on Dark Sol. One of the many random things it can do is make the enemy stronger. It took many tries but I managed to get Dark Sol a power boost FOUR times!!!! Each time, he would get lighter so by the fourth time.. he was entirely white with no other colors! Even with all 3 characters level 99 and 3 side characters helping....I got slaughtered! His tail would do about 1400 to 1600 damage at a time.. he was lethal!..lol. Thankfully when I sent back to him he was just the regular Dark Sol. ** Have a great day!

@@DracMazoku My pleasure!!! One more thing. If you get the "Great Whip" for Milo... it does only about 90% damage. However, it gets an extra 2 attacks per round! So you will do over double damage to Dark Sol and can take him out even more quickly. Always great videos!! : )

Why did you use Boost 1 instead of Boost 2?

It's been a while, but from memory, Boost 1 gives WAY more points to a single character than using Boost 2 on everyone. As such, since I'm not really using Pyra to attack physically, it's way more efficient to use Boost 1 on the Hero, then Milo and Pyra at the end. That way, the Hero can start dishing way more damage right in the first turn. But my memory may just be foggy :)
