Great to have an option with the original out of print. Given the changes in color were under Rachel's direction, one assumes this new edition allowed her to build on her vision. I like the white borders better. Thanks, Chris.
I don't believe you said which one you prefered. Thanks for showing them side by side. I think I prefer the smaller size, the back design and softer, warmer color scheme and borders, of the earlier version to the larger more contrasty and saturated tones of the new version. I also think I'd have preferred not all the blue skies to have been stripped out. I'd love to know why those changes were important to Rachel and hope she saw the final drafts before she passed. I haven't checked to see if she offers an explanation for the changes in the book.
Thanks for watching Robin. In all honestly I don't strongly prefer one deck over the other. There are certainly some cards I prefer in specifically from one of the editions. I have a feeling ill chop and change which deck I use. X
Thank you for this comparison! I think I like the size of the older version better, but the colouring of the newer one with exception of some cards, where I prefer the colouring of the older version. But what bothers me on the newer version, though it is really an unimportant thing, but still it shouts at me, is, that line between the number and the title. I think it is unnecessary and looks weird. In general I think it is good that the deck is republished, also from a tarot history perspective, and Rachel Pollacks role in the tarot world. Personally, I will probably not get the deck, as I think I already have decks that give me similar vibes and that I successfully use for what I would use this deck for, so I do not see the need to purchase it right now. But if I were a collector type, I'd probably want one of each of those versions.
I purchased the new edition and really love working with it. It is so cool to see the first edition next to the new one. Both editions are beautiful. Thank you for sharing! 💗
