Waiting on my plane to return home. I just spent two weeks in Japan based out of Hotel Gracery in Shinjuku. My first night I arrived and was checked in by 8pm and went to Kabukicho Tower for dinner. I was absolutely blown away. The food, music, lights, energy. Hell of a hello from Japan. I'm sad to be going home.
Wow sounds amazing, How does my Shinjuku guide compare to your 2 week experience? what would you add?!! .. Did you check out other parts of Japan? ... Time to return it seems haha :)
So many places to visit, so little time! Free observation deck at kabukicho tower, nice!!!These places look so different in daytime compared to night.Thank you for the tips ! More vids like this please
Yes, you are right there is a lot to visit. I'm glad I showed you some new places to check out. Shinjuku is very different at night! so worth visiting both during the day and at night!
We are staying in the Kabukicho tower in the Groove hotel in January.First time will be in Japan.I can't wait. Thanks for the video!Very informative!😄✌🏼
Thanks for tips, staying in Gracery Hotel New Year’s Day , 3 days In each place Tokyo Kyoto and Osaka, starting to plan itinerary; so many places to see !
I loved this video I don't know much about Shinjuku except for Shinjuku Gyoen, in my first trip I stayed on the other side of Shinjuku Station near Gov Building, it was also beautiful at night
there really is so much to do in Shinjuku that you could explore and not leave the area for a few days! .. It's worth checking the many locations both at night and during the day :)
For me, Shinjuku is the best part of Tokyo to stay at. Its great for public transport, for food, for bars, for shopping and for bright neon lights. Also, I like Omoido Yochoko, nearby Shin-Okubo, Kabuchiko, the Tokyo Metropolitan Building, Golden Gai, Shinjuku Goen. But the best part is definitely what I mentionned first: so many subway and train lines from Shinjuku station, and plenty of restaurants in easy walking distance. Have a great time in Japan !
Looks like the Yakuza/Like A Dragon/Judgment Kamurocho is really similar to the real-life Kabukicho! Looking forward to going there myself this December!
Really the only place I've been, is one of the towers at the Tokyo Metropolitan Building. I'm not a city guy so I wanted out asap, which I now realize was a mistake. If the plan comes together I'll be spending 3 months in Tokyo, so this gives me a few nights and weekends worth of exploring.
Shinjuku is awesome, but I prefer Shibuya even more, especially at night. Actually they both look spectacular at night, so you can't go wrong with either district.
Thanks for the great video Nathan! I went to Kabukicho/Gozilla street for the first time ever last week. I shopped at Yodobashi but unfortunately a diluvian rain cut my exploration day short.
Thank you for this video. I'll be staying in Shinjuku (at the Godzilla Hotel) and it's good to know that I won't have too much trouble getting some food if I have a late dinner after getting back from a daytrip or just need a midnight snack.
@jerryjazzbo2845 thank you. Yes, I'm sure food is easy to find all over Tokyo. But if I get back to the hotel late and i'm hungry it is good to know there are plenty of nearby options for food.
@@betaraybob I just realised that I had booked the Godzilla hotel too now seeing the hotel name and lobby look from the video XD I was told to stay in Shinjuku to get easier routing to Mount Fuji. will tell when I will land in Tokyo next month. it is not so easy to find a direct bus line from Narita to Shinjuku without the hassle passing thru Tokyo station, especially my ETA would be late in the nite XD
@aquamondIII if you're going to be there in early November keep an eye out for an American with long gray hair and say Hi. Granted I doubt either of us will be spending too much time at the hotel.
Yet again my relatives insisted on going to dinner in Shinjuku last month. However, this time it was Breizh Cafe. There is also one in Kyoto and the French Normandy crepes are extremely good. hahaha! the nickname of the Tokyo Metro Government Building is the 「tax building」because so much public money was used for construction.
@@NinjaMonkeyguy hmmm,... if you want to know more about Tokyo you might like reading " Low City, High City " by Edward G. Seidensticker ... personally, I don't like high city so much, except for Takadanobaba and Mitaka ... but ... the young women in Akasaka are so beautiful and fashionable I think it's really nice ...
Very well done. Loved that you included Teppan Baby and the Granbell Skybar. Really captured why staying in Shinjuku gives you a little bit of everything.
Hi, Most are walkable from Shinjuku station yes, My suggestion is to use google maps to point you in the general direction. When it comes to Gov metropolitan building generally the west exits will get you 10-15 min walk away, All the other mentioned attractions are walkable from Shinjuku. I suggest you use one of the maps within the station to help you with the exit. Shinjuku is prob the worlds most complicated station so don't worry if you get lost! (It's a right of passage) lol
"piss Alley" lmfao Is it like shibuya where you have a high chance of encountering a drunk salaryman peeing in the alleyways? I didnt expect that when I went!
A high chance in Shibuya? You just beat the odds that time...but like anywhere else, there are people who can have one drink too many. Overworked salarymen also need a break every once in a while.
Smashing content as always! I just found out that the capsule hotel I'll be staying soon in Tokyo is smack dab in the middle of Kabukicho. I heard that Kabukicho has the reputation of being a dodgy place. I'm a 29 yr old male solo traveller. Should I be concerned?
Hot take, kabukicho tower, overated, skip it unless you're walking passed it. little known fact, there are couple of bars in Golden Gai which is open 24/7 so even in the morning / daytime you can have a drink there. tokyo metroplitan, underated! go there in day time and night time to see both sides of the city considering its free there is no reason not to, also killer tonkatsu in the basement shopping area. Hanazono Shrine is a really nice spot, i love going there during night time.
