A clean baler is a happy baler. (dusts off baler with shirt, blows loogie and gets that spit shine. Puts shirt back on. Brads the man! )

It is always good to see hard work and keeping what you got up and running. Keep it up and thanks again for making vids for us.

Can’t hardly beat a New Holland square bailer. My 273 is slow but very reliable. I usually run it behind a hydro 84

I love our hydro 84.

Bales look good to me. I know its a lot more work but I like square bales better, I guess it reminds me of my youth. Thanks for sharing.

I like squares for the fact they force me to collect the hay out of the field.

I hate tedding but after we started I was sold on it. Good video. We managed to get 3 cuts this year. We just didn’t hardly have the dry time dodging the rains this year. Down in ky.

I remember back in the days it was metal wire not nylon string around the bails

I find the finer grasses take a lot longer to dry down for hay !

Fun to see this, brings back good old memories. Like the first row you bale. as straw is jumping everywere it's because you're baling it in the opposite direction. Not wrong but would be easier if you baled it the opposite direction. As mentioned, brings back good old memories :)
@boehmfarm4276
@boehmfarm4276 5 лет назад
I thought that was the hay just being short second cut. It feeds fantastic in any direction for first cutting.

You could be very right. I had more experience with straw (wheat) as with hay. A harvester always cuts the straw. We always had the effect when chosen the wrong direction. The fewer straw you had, the worser the effect. So when baling the lanes with few straw, it was all about picking the right lane. Saddly no longer baling ourselves today. after 60 years of duty, the baler broke down massively. :( Greetings from Europe

60 years is a good long run for a baler.

Ever thought about a used tedder for spreading the hay to dry out faster - just curious

There's only once a season I really might think it would be an ok idea to buy one, and that usually occurs on a second cut field.

You definitely need to get a tedder to spread that hay. Racking just rolls it up.

Crab grass is about the best warm season grass..much easier to grow and more tonnagd per acre than any other and almost as nutritious as Bermuda

its one thing to be shiney, but are the blades sharp :)

Yep, I don't bale junk hay in squares, and the baler might be getting close to 10,000 bales for its life, maybe.
@danielthomason5685
@danielthomason5685 5 лет назад
Actually crab grass also more desirable to horses and cows because its softer...more palatable
@boehmfarm4276
@boehmfarm4276 5 лет назад
But everyone demonizes it as a lawn weed..... But the bales turned out real nice, a little different smell than the cool season grasses I bale.
@danielthomason5685
@danielthomason5685 5 лет назад
It can be a nuisance in a lawn, but a hell of a warm season forage or hay
