@@tommymaxey2665 If I catch a Pokémon in Diamond and send it to HeartGold to transfer it up to Black2, will the Pokémon be marked as coming from Sinnoh or Johto? I'm asking because if the Pokémon is marked as coming from their original region, then I might as well use HeartGold as the main transfer-up game.

@@skaithespirit1184 pokemon bank isn't getting shut down any time soon. If you don't have it when it shuts down mod your console and get the cia for pokemon bank to install it.

@Pain They are the only franchise that lasted this long and still allows this kind of feature from the beginning, sure the system isn't flawless but I wouldn't label it as exploitation, its hard to implement stuff when you are the pioneer into something.

The ability to download the software however is not so you need to do that now , that’s the part that sucks .At least it’ll be free to use after eshop shutdown and I would like to think the Pokémon company is going to keep that running for a few more years . So legacy support for games made in 2004 is still pretty amazing . Especially those titles were designed with other software in mind (like the poke box for game cube ).

@@MikeHunt-lz2hq you do not use bank to transfer Pokémon from gen 3 to 4.

You only use bank to transfer Pokémon from 6 to 7 and then Pokémon held in Bank can be transferred to Home. To transfer from gen 5 to 6 you need the poke transporter to move them into Bank.

bank still has to be the eshop one, it connects to official servers etc and needs an extra check, can't be installed from .cia no idea about poketransporter though

minigames are fun and all but get really tedious after doing it a few hundred times, i transferred a complete living dex from the gba games up and it was literal hours of the b&w catching game

All the info you need is in the video my dude. All games seen here are English versions (Australian to be exact). I used an R4 to inject the Old Sea Map into the game to be able to travel to Faraway Island after finishing the main story. And after successfully hunting Mew, this video shows how it is possible to get it to Bank and then Home by transferring up though generations. Definitely recommend the hunt if you’re interested!

It definitely will be legal as long as the mew itself wasn’t hacked. Only the distribution of event items was region locked, the items themselves being used won’t flag a Pokémon as hacked.

@@wolfetteplays8894 From the information I got from Project Pokémon ("mew from emerald legality") I found out that event-item distributions were language-locked, and it was not possible to trade Pokémon between different language cartridges. As such, that Mew would not seem to be legal, and yet the Pokétransporter and the Pokémon Bank flag it as legal. It's amusing, really. 🤭

as long as you got a 3DS with Poketranser and Pokebank, probably indefinitely. Since I think they intended to make Pokemon Home the "final one" so it'll be even that on a new console.

In terms of date, imagine it like this: Let’s say someone who actually did the Japanese event and shiny hunted Mew way back in the day still had that Mew on their Japanese cartridge today? If they went to transfer it today to Gen 4, Gen 5, Bank and then HOME, the date caught would still be today, even though it was technically caught years ago. So I don’t think HOME would ever flag date as an issue. In terms of flagging a Mew that had any other language other than Japanese, I feel they would have to be really cruel to do so. Im not saying it’s not a possibility, however to flag a Pokémon as illegitimate, despite the data for it and the island it’s on being available in every copy of the cartridge (not just Japanese), it would just leave a bad taste in people’s mouth. Yes technically the event only came to Japan, but I think at this point there’d be too many other factors at play to 100% determine its legitimacy or illegitimacy. That’s just my opinion anyway.

Different people have different opinions on if it’s considered legal. While the item ‘Old Sea Map’ was only ever distributed in Japan, Mew and the island it lives on is in every copy of the game, regardless of where it’s from. I will consider it legal until Pokémon HOME tells me otherwise. Also, thank you!

That is actually a very good question! I just searched the e-Shop to double check Poke-Transporter isn’t in there and you are correct. I downloaded Bank just now on my second DS (which I hadn’t done for some reason) and annoyingly it won’t let me proceed to the Bank menu screen without paying the subscription (at time of writing this it still costs money). I hope you can download Poke Transporter through Bank once the store goes down but I simply don’t know. And thank you :)

yeah I know a lot of people will say this isn't legit but I've done my fair share of legit transfers, I really could not be bothered going through that again. Also the hacked 3DS/cart dumper method works with physical copies of gen 1/2 too. Nice to have my OG Zapdos from 1999 on my team on my Switch.

@@c0wqu3u31at3r im having those exact thoughts right now since i just put cfw on my 3ds but honestly, the process of getting the shiny is still legit (or as legit as it can be) with this Mew for example, and for other hunts, the odds are the normal odds, no changes, on games that while yes, they are ported roms, the roms themselves are "games ripped from their cartridges", basically functioning the exact same way a digital copy would. If someone would question the legitimacy of a shiny mon, not because of the odds or anything but because of the legitimacy of the game acquisition, while having to do with a company like Nintendo who almost seems like theyre actively trying to hinder u from buying the games, then thats their own problem honestly. You're getting the mon in a legit way in a legit copy of the game that was just acquired in not the most legal way. And as for transferring it thru transporter, and bank and all that, its like taking a bike, then a bus, then the subway to get somewhere. Like yeah i can do allat, or i can just take the car (pksm to bank). Yk what i mean?

The GBA part is the only step you need an original DS or DS Lite. The Gen 4 to Gen 5 step can be done by using a DS and 3DS like I did, or you could use 2x 3DS’s. Gen 5 to Bank you will need a 3DS.

Yes you can. You can use any Gen 4 game to transfer from any Gen 3 game, and you can use any Gen 5 game to transfer from any Gen 4 game.

Yep you only need a regular DS for the GBA portion. Gen 4 to 5 you can use the DS Download Play option found on the 3DS Home menu to transfer. And yes you can use any Gen 4 game into any Gen 5 game to transfer.

to get it running again you just have to set it to a time *after* the last stored time before the battery died. while this isnt a metric you can see, it can be accomplished by just setting it to todays date. should be plenty because pretty sure it starts out in like 2004 on a new save file

Gen 4 I’m not so sure about because I’ve read non official copies of either Gen 3 or Gen 4 don’t connect with each other - but I can’t confirm personally. Gen 5 I’m also not sure about in terms of connecting to the Poke Transporter.

Sadly no as the Poké Transporter 3DS app you use to transfer Pokémon to Bank will only work with Gen 5 games and the Virtual Console Gen 1 and 2 games.

Back when I went to record this video, changing the date messed things up for me and delayed recording by a day as it wouldn’t let me transfer without waiting 24 hours. After recording it I tried playing with the date again and it still physically made me wait 24 hours. Maybe there is something else differently I could have done but from my short experience I had to wait sadly.

The GBA to DS part of the process you’ll need the DS or DS Lite, but yes the rest of the process you can use any 3DS or 2DS that has the Poké-Transporter and Bank apps installed.

Just got really lucky at 3,701 run aways. The trick is to not turn off the game and keep the frames counting up!

No matter what you say or makes you happy, It is NOT legit unless it’s from Japanese Emerald. The only legal LEGIT shiny Mews that are not Japanese are POGOs stamped from the Kanto event. It was NEVER meant to be released globally which proves its rarity. Glitching is also not legal as well as it wasn’t intended by Nintendo themselves for such an exploit to exist. Sorry but you’re gonna have to go buy a Japanese emerald and shiny hunt mew yourself if you want a legit one or wait for the Kanto event to return in Pokémon GO.

I will explain why it is ILLEGAL: The event was only RELEASED in Japan, therefore ONLY the Japanese versions can go to the island and capture Mew, otherwise it is ILLEGAL since you would be INJECTING the event ILLEGALLY. There is a trick to put this Mew with an English name and not have Japanese, but that is from the 6th gen since a Mew (or any pokemon) that can be nicknamed can be changed. But it only works in a Japanese version that has the language in English. So having an Emerald Shiny Mew of a nationality other than Japanese (the name can be in English) is ILLEGAL.

Yep and more than one year since I transferred it in HOME still has no issues with it being stored there which is nice :)! Definitely transfer it up!

Yep the Pomeg Berry glitch is another way you can get to the island.

The event to get Mew was never available in English copies of Gen 3 games. The method hylianstagram used activated the flag to allow it to happen with a peripheral tool. I still count it, because all the hard work was done legit, plus extra work to make it happen.

Cause the game counts the R4 as a legal event idk why . I did it years ago with Darkai and it worked great have said Poké in home . Most of events do Even Legit copies of Poké games on the R4 it still counted towards being legal For odd reason Nintendo doesn’t pick up the R4 or something idk never looked into it

It does definitely suck for the physical games that it keeps getting harder. I hope that when the Pokémon Gen 1,2 and 3 games eventually come to Switch it’ll be as easy as transferring straight into HOME.

Nope you’ll be fine. Mine is still in HOME with no issues. Because Mew can be obtained from any cartridge of Emerald at any point in time, I guess the programmers of HOME just allow it regardless of small technicalities like language.
