When I was hunting for Staryu in the SS Anne I had this thought! Almost no person playing a regular playthrough would be able to fish in the SS Anne dock area with a Super Rod because it requires sequence breaking by trading a Pokemon already knowing Cut into your game. This fishing spot has a 1% chance for Slowpoke in Leaf Green and 1% chance for Psyduck in Fire Red. I'd be willing to bet that neither one of those has ever been found before shiny with the SS Anne met location! Great video as always Nils! The reason koffing spawns in that small 'lake' is because that lake is canonically used as a dump for toxic waste. Grimer also can spawn there, depending on the game lol Also, that Jirachi hunt is much easier if you use glitzer popping strats to teleport to the HoF depending on which one youre referring to. I found a random shiny larvitar on my way to fight red in heart gold. And got PKRS about 20 minutes later while EV training it…. I literally do not expect anything else in life after that.

Crazy thing is that odds are somebody across the globe has gotten a lot of these on purpose or accident but just never uploaded footage or showed it off online.

Proud gen 1 shiny articuno owner as a teenager back in the days (didn't know why it has sparkles when i transfered from my yellow to my silver cart and the other legendary birds didn't have it!) since the color palette wasn't much different from what i would expect i only learned later (because access to the internet was rarer also) that it was shiny!

I did over 1000 Primo encounters back in the day, never got the shiny but I’d love to go back to that hunt at some point, it was always tough because any extended break from the hunt meant rememorizing the code you needed for each mon

I'm sure pokemon that require stuff like having to play through the whole game to get a single chance, like the jirachi, or really low probabilities, like koffing, won't be acquired by shiny hunters, because they're busy doing less crazy methods, it'll be obtained by someone just playing through the game casually. And they won't even know the significance of it, so they won't ell anyone.

That pupitar hunt I've actually considered doing!! I've been hunting the 10% larivitar on the top floor for over a year. Im on phase 8 currently. If I somehow phase with every kind of pokemon on that floor I will consider heading down to try for the pupitar as the line is still 10% all together!

The Nature Preserve in Black and White 2 has the return of the Level 100 Magikarp if you want to hunt it. Although the ones who have never been found are the Amnesia Psyduck from Stadium 1, as well as the Baton Pass Farfetch'd and Earthquake Gligar from Stadium 2 because of the effort

I found a shiny Meditite in Scarlet while watching this I commented on you last video that a gen 4 Meditite was my first shiny, so it’s pretty fun finding one 5 generations later!

Shiny lvl. 1 gyarados from nature preserve in BW2. a 0.000001220703125% chance encounter while fishing in rippling water meaning an extremely attention demanding hunt with constant repel use. Meaning ~1million encounters to reach odds. At level 1, it only has thrash, meaning if you're dumb enough to not pack a master ball or a ghost type for this hunt it can faint itself with its high attack and low HP at level 1. In an area that gives you a free shiny. An obscure area that is extremely difficult to unlock. Turns out, Gyarados is the rarest shiny after all. If anyone would ever hunt this, I think the best way to do it would be to leave the haxorus just standing there, a free shiny you can't tempt yourself with because you're going for the most earned one ever, that only holds value in the journey towards it because it is identical to the most common one in history in the eyes of most pokemon fans. Imagine killing the level 60 shiny haxorus with a level 1 shiny gyarados with several PCs worth of released shiny basculins, magikarps and stronger gyarados flopping about unova somewhere, after most likely at least half a decade of hunting for pixels.

These videos are great! One topic I would love to see discussed is the most difficult to catch shiny, with regards to catch rate. The one that I believe is the hardest to catch, would be the safari zone in Heartgold/Soulsilver with Beldum and Metang. Though you can repel trick the Metang, it has a catch rate of less than 1%. I would love to see if anyone had gotten one!

I shiny hunted primo slugma in heartgold. I sadly lost the cartridge. It had shiny slugma, charizard, ho-oh and gyrados on it

There ain't no way.....I know someone who has got the 1% shiny koffing. It was like 3 years ago, and he was replaying the game. I was at his house, and he was just goofing off in the water and found a shiny coughing. At the time, I didn't know what the odds were, but we were just happy to find a shiny 😂. You all may call me a liar, but I swear on every God to ever be worshipped. This happened. The sad news is that the save file has since been lost.

Right now I’m doing a legends arceus shiny only run with a few rules. I have to catch a new shiny after 1. Earning a new star 2. Entering a new area (such a coastlands) 3. After defeating one of the yellow guys. After completing any of these three condition I am no allowed to progress the story period until I find a shiny for the last check point. Probably the most fun I’ve ever had playing a Pokémon game tbh

Funnily enough, my very first shiny (even before Gyrados) was a shiny Koffing in the Burned Tower! I was close to being the first I guess

I bought a Gameboy version of Ruby off Ebay and it contained every single pokemon available and its shiny version too...that was the day I stopped caring about Pokémon.

Sonikks has uploaded a video of getting the channel jirachi over a year ago also there are a lot of people that got it through rng manipulation, which is basically just soft resetting but figuring out when to press a instead of trying blind to hit the right moment

not the Weezing obviously but as a child I found a shiny Koffing in the Burned Tower and I reset my game cause I thought it was a bug 😭 i remember getting a surge of adrenaline looking down at my screen and seeing a grey-blue Koffing and thinking “what is that??”, it freaked me out lmao. I have a ton of shinies nowadays but still no Koffing, I wouldn’t be satisfied with hunting it in a modern game though. Maybe someday I’ll go back to the Burned Tower and hunt it down

I got the level 100 magikarp back in the day. When rng abuse shiny hunting in platinum, you could easily use the magikarps in the process. I got it by complete luck and have never recreated that feeling. I had a living dex on that cartirdge. One day it just vanished and I never saw it again.

When I was a kid me and my twin brother and our 4 female friends all found shiny weezing no lie this video reminded me of that all 6 of us found the shiny weezing in burn tower as kids

If we take into account the language or region of the pokemons caught, perhaps the korean gen 2 games or any korean pokemon games for that matter may be the rarest 1% shinies, since you can't even trade them around with the other pokemon game from other countries, and the gold and silver copies of the korean pokemon games cost an arm and a leg too

What about a shiny Family of 3 Maushold with a Rare Mark? That would be an insanely difficult shiny hunt. 1/512 x 1/100 x 1/1000 comes out to a total of 1/51,200,000. That is with using Sandwich Power + Shiny Charm + Mass Outbreak Odds, but then factor in that Tandemous usually spawns inside the walls during mass outbreaks. This would mean most hunts would only be Sandwich Power and Shiny Charm. That makes it 1/683 x 1/100 x 1/1000 and a total of 1/68,300,000. It's also insanely difficult to see this shiny, making the hunt less likely to even be attempted than any other ultra rare shiny. This is my vote.

Alot of dedicated hunters play Pokemmo and most of these rare hunts you have mentioned, people have done on Pokemmo with shiny rates that are 1/30,000 at base.

I have noticed that once in a while (usually a fest or tour) Pokemon GO will launch research to obtain a shiny mythical. They've done one for Mew, Celebi and Jirachi. The only question now is; what medium will have a currently unavailable shiny mythical finally made available-the main series, or GO? TBH, I find the GO ones more of a flex because of the work you have to put in them but otherwise finding a shiny in the main series is more rewarding

A hunt that I recently started that I think might be one of the rarest shiny pokemon ever is a 3 segment dudunsparce from the Gen 2 games. The only rarity of it is the fact that you need to have a gen 2 game, poketransfer, and pokemon bank along with how long it takes to hatch eggs in those games, but it still probably has never been gotten so far.

My masochistic arse is hunting an Authentic Shiny Sinistea from Glimwood Tangle in Sword and Shield. Edit: Forgot to mention. I'm also trying to catch it in a Dream Ball, which I only have 1 of on my game file. And these Sinistea know Memento, so fun days for me.

Question, does it count if you did find the lv100 shiny Magikarp, but it was through manipulating RNG with the cute charm method? Genuinely curious because if so I think I know what my next hunt is. Heck, do any of these gen 4 shiny pokemon count if you use the cute charm method?

I have to believe a casual player has gotten some of these before. The Jirachi for sure. That Koffing on the water I doubt because no casuals spend more than 4 seconds on that water in total.

One of the most insane Shiny Pokémon I have ever found is my Shiny Sunkern in Violet. Now, a Sunkern doesn’t really sound impressive, but this one has a very unusual met location. The Pokémon League. In that entire region of the map, there is exactly one location where it COULD spawn, the large flower patch. That, combined with how many Pokémon are often spawning and Sunkern’s Shiny being surprisingly subtle, and you begin to see the issue with finding a Shiny Sunkern there. There’s a number of Pokémon that could spawn in the flower patch in addition to Sunkern, notably Flabébé, Happiny and Combee.

I think one of my rarest encounters was a random 5% Solrock in Pokemon Y in the glittering cave. Unfortunately, I may never get it back because my save file corrupted.

Gotta correct you again, my Living Shiny Dex includes all Unown, hunted from various locations, including Firered. Unown in FRLG are strange, the shiny rate is wonky af and can actually go as low as 1/100, dependant on your TID SID combo

That HGSS pupitar will be on my list whenever I finish kanto and start johto. At 36/153 for my kanto shiny origin dex after 3 years. I’ll bet someone else will hunt pupitar before I get there though.

For the Primo egg hunt, I have seen a shiny hunt on RU-vid where someone get the shiny mareep but they used RNG manipulation to get it. I was just checking it to make sure it was possible to hunt the eggs cause I'm doing a shiny badge quest atm in my heartgold game and I want to go for shiny slugma for 6th or 7th badge. My rarest shiny is in the same game where I got shiny scyther from bug contest at 5% (wasnt even going for it). I've been stuck hunting for one of the legendary roamers (Entie/Raikou) for the last year 😢

In gen 2 if you use Sweet Scent the encounters go by super quick. Currently doing a hunt in Crystal's Dark Cave for 5%-Teddiursa or 1%-Dunsparce. Currently only have phased once for Geodude, but im doing it. Watch me. It's gonna me year tho because I'm bot used to shiny hunting like that lol

Many pokemon from gen 1 cannot be shiny without exploiting glitchrs. Only gift pokemon (starters, eevee, fossils, hitmons, lapras), trades, static encounters (snorlax, birbs, mewtwo), game corner mons (nidorinx, porygon, abra, scyther, pinsir etc.) and fishing encounters can have the right DV spreads to be ahiny on transfer

I actually did get a resort area level 99 shiny Magikarp. Still intend on going for the 100.

Just because it wasn't in the video (it's fine, the video is really good and very informative) you can only shiny hunt specific pokemon in gen 1 because of how the stats work out. These pokemon iirc are gift, fishing encounters and static encounters. That's it. So legendaries, starters and fishing. If you want to get a really interesting shiny, use the statue fishing glitch and get a shiny from inside of a gym lol.
