The downbound ALGOMARINE seen passing under the Glendale lift bridge and entering Lock 3 on the Welland Canal, Nov. 2, 2015

b.1968 Lauzon, Quebec - d. 2016 Aliaga, Turkey; Age 48
-----------------------------------------------------
Built in 1968 in Quebec for Nipigon Transport, this vessel was originally known as LAKE MANITOBA; she was bought by Algoma and renamed ALGOMARINE in 1987, and then underwent a major overhaul at the Port Weller drydock.
This video from my archive shows Algomarine on the Welland Canal in Nov. 2015, still working hard as usual. But her service was to soon end. About a month after this video, on Dec.1, 2015, she would pass upbound through the Welland Canal, for what would turn out top be her last-ever upbound trip on the Welland Canal. She would spend her 2015-16 winter layup in Goderich, and then travel back down the canal on Apr.26, 2016 with a last load of salt. Her registry would be closed on May 10, 2016, and she'd be then sold for scrapping. She'd end up being towed from Montreal to Turkey - under her tow name "MARI" - arriving at Aliaga, Turkey, in June 2016, to be dismantled at the age of 48.
But as seen here on Nov. 2, 2015, on a routine workday for Algomarine, all of that was yet unknown.
