We decided to put up shiplap in our 2007 doublewide mobile home. We tell you the truth about our problems putting the shiplap up. This is not really a tutorial, but an honest to goodness problems we faced.
Hey I love your video a tip for next time would be nail in the top piece that goes in the next piece of the shiplap so your not putting holes in your front face of the boards. I also live in a manufactured home and doing little jobs like this really makes a difference. Also does not have to be in 1 day take your time to get it done right
You are absolutely right about not taking 1 day..... I just have OCD and cant stand the mess....LOL. Thank you for your tip... will try that when we do our bedroom. Blessings my friend.
Your video just came up in my recommendations. I half way thru watching and already know how you feel. We are in our sixties, my husband is disabled so everything basically falls on me to do. I had to install a new kitchen floor a couple of months ago. I was near the end when I was pulling up an old tie and slipped a disc in my back. We have always been diners and now call and paying for others to come help us is all new to us and expensive. Getting old is not easy. Every time I do any projects now my body hurts so bad and it takes me days to recoup. Oh to be young again.
Gurl... tell it!! We had to buy a huge bottle of ibuprofen for our aches and pains. I remember us getting through project quick and easy and enjoyed every bit of our project but since we have bought this place we have found our bodies do not jump back as quickly or at all. Getting out of our chair or bed I need to make a video showing all our groaning and grunting just to move....LOL. My husband now has been calling around to hire someone to help but they want to charge an arm or leg to do it, or look at our age and think.... their so old we can get over on them. They dont know we have wisdom at our age and see exactly what they are doing. YES to be young agin. Thank you for your comment.... I so enjoy reading them
I just found your site yesterday and let me tell you I couldn't stop watching your videos.. Even when my hubby got home from work we watched yals videos. I feel like we could be best friends lol. Y'all 2 have ways just like me and my hubby.. Lol from doing the walls to making the bed it's always an adventure. My hubby and I have been married 41yrs and we agree with you nothing is just a simple project even though he has worked in construction it's still times things don't go as planned. Our motto is just push thru the trying times and keep on smiling.

I can’t work with my Mr. He gets ugly real fast , he says I try to tell him what to & how to do it .. we’ll , that’s my job , I am the Boss here ! 😂😂 So , I always had my dad help me with my projects, he passed away a few years ago & I sure miss him ! He was my friend & we was always demolishing some thing around here , but we had a great time at it .. lol We built chicken cops , cut down trees , built a back patio , just all kinds of things . He was my right hand man ♥️

I know you miss your dad and I would to when having someone that you can really love doing projects together and have fun while doing it!! As far as telling our Misters what to do.... well sometimes they need some directions. As you know most men dont like to follow directions either while going somewhere or putting stuff together out of even a box. SMH I think its just pride! Got to love them anyhow. Just happened to stumble across your channel! You and Mister did a great job!! Mobile home living definitely has its up and down! My husband and I wanted to put up shiplap in our dining room and repaint our living room! We also live in a mobile home and are excited to do some renovations!! Awe Michelle Im so glad you found me. We have never lived in a mobile home in our life and you're so right about having its ups and downs. Our home is a double wide 2007. I own a 1979 double wide . I wanted to take out that garden tub . Would like to see what you did . I have a very tiny shower and want to get a regular shower from Lowe’s in that bathroom . I haven’t seen one have my double wide floor plan so I can’t envision any ideas . I can’t even imagine doing shiplap since I am single senior .
Hey Karen..... I know what cha mean.... We went to Lowes and had a dickens of a time. They ordered our shower door, tub basin, and shower walls. We kept calling about it and they said it finally came in and was in the back to be picked up. We went to pick it up and then they could not find our order. Long story short they sold our order to someone else. We were furious. In saying this I would check out Home Depot if you go ahead with your garden tub removal. I just know at our age its very difficult to get in an out of that dag blame thing, so be careful. I dont think at the time we videoed that process but we do have pictures of the before an after. I will see what I can do so you can see that project. Might can do a video with pictures and just do a voice over for you my friend.
I have mobile home rental property`s , that are zone 3 and still have 1x3 stud walls on 24" centers with 1/4" sheetrock . I am doing a remodel now on one and the walls are so wavy.
Our walls were a pistol to put up our shiplap. We still have many walls yet to go and Ive kind of put it off because I got so aggravated. We are wanting to do all the outside walls to help keep the heat inside our mobile home.....
Looks great. I am currently doing a shiplap wall. What size edging did you use? And where did you get it .. That’s the issue I’m having Keep up the great work
Its really pretty when it up and all is said an done! Its just all the things they dont tell you when working with your spouse. Lawdy.. My tongue was all bit up by the time we finished. As you know manufactured homes have warped walls and everything is small if you have an older one like us. However we feel it did add to our home and we are glad we did it. Thank you for watching!
