Carpenter and Building Educator, Ilya Benesch, walks us through the assembly of site-built corner casters for shipping containers. This caster assembly was built using basic shop tools and metal cutters, and allowed CCHRC-NREL employees to successfully maneuver the shipping container into our laboratory space. The container shown in this video is destined to become part of a small home in the Native Village of Unalakleet. This shipping container will house all of the plumbing and mechanical equipment for the home, including a full kitchen and bathroom. Once construction within the container is complete, the container will be shipped from the Fairbanks laboratory to site in Unalakleet, where the rest of the home will be framed around it using local labor.
