Because of you and your tutorials, I'm even more comfortable with my decision to close my booth, stop selling on a MP, and open an Etsy shop. 😃 When I set my prices, I only consider how much I can get for it in my area. Finally, I can choose a price based on the value of the piece and my work. Thank you!
Thank for the encouragement.. I have the same experience with FB Market place..I can’t stand it.. It’s turned into a yard sale nothing sells on there over 15.00
Thank you soooo much for making these videos! I have been selling on facebook market place and it is very frustrating when you spend so much time on a piece then feel like you can't list it for what it's worth because you know you won't be able to sell it. I have been wanting to do more with my stuff but didn't know how but now I know where to start and you have given me to confidence to do more so thank you again!! Ps. LOVE YOUR STUFF! and I could listen to you talk all day 🤗
I have a question. If a piece was delivered damaged when the customer checks it, should the customer NOT take possession of it? In other words, should they ask the driver to take it back? I wonder what would happen.
I have no idea. So far nothing has been damaged and I haven't had to deal with insurance or anything like that. Good questions, I do not have enough expirience to know the answer!
Usually insurance will take care of it. If you ship something worth of value I've heard it's worth always getting it insured. Gotta look at your profit/loss
you are such a given soul.Thank you so much for the video (and not only this one )...you gave me so much encouragement....ouff this market place.....I can't sell anything and I am in Canada!!!!
I set up everything exactly one week before your first video. Since then I've sold a piece through Etsy, however, I am very concerned re uShip. I sold a 40-pound jewelry armoire that I needed to ship from Maryland to Arizona. I packaged everything myself. The quotes I got from uShip, OMGOSH 😲! LOWEST WAS $395 all the way up to $606. This was a very small piece of furniture. Am I doing something wrong? I think that's outrageous. I had to wrap and package myself, and then ship via UPS. If I sell a buffet or dresser...holy cow!
I had the same experience! I was trying to ship from Arizona to Florida...a 40 lb bookshelf. It was $661🥴I'd hate to try a large dresser also! Idk what I'm doing wrong...or if that's just the going rate
@@jnaifuqua-clair1590 INSANITY! I lost money. Cost me more to package and ship than the cost of the piece. I thought I was charging enough to absorb that cost, but no. Now I understand why I see jewelry armoires priced at $700-$900 on Etsy.
What I do is make offers instead of take them. I am not sure why the shipping is so high. I explained this in the first part oof this series but what I do is check the average and lowest prices for a piece. Then I post my offer instead of asking for theirs. It shouldn't be that high. For me a dresser from Maine to FL is around $300! Place your offer and wait for people to take them!
I have a question Kacha....you mentioned that ETSY held your funds for 45 days. So when you make your bid on U-ship, are you having to use your own money (like do you have funds set aside, and then reimburse yourself essentially once Etsy releases your payment?)
Hi, just wondering for those whom wax their pieces do you include in your product care that the piece may have to be re-waxed in the future? Do you put that in your product description at the point of sale?
Enjoyed both of your shipping videos. I am going to try, what made you decide to include shipping ? Do you have an amount that you allow for each piece or do you just use the uship estimate ?
How do you find drivers? I thought you ship these pieces ups or something related to that. How would you know if the driver is legitimate and won't steal your piece?
Kacha and anyone else who knows... Ok, im totally new at shipping amd extremely appreciate both of your videos but i have 3 questions still I hope you can help me better understand. 1. When adding free shipping to a piece - how much to know how much to adjust on the price of a piece when shipping could be $150 one place and $350 another? (I dont want to not add enough BUT i also dont want to add so much that it deters some potential buyers) 2. Does customer see how much charged for shipping (asking because of when free shipping is offered...) 3. I know your vids are half about etsy and other about uship BUT I have someone from marketplace wanting a vanity shipped, do i collect payment for vanity before arranging shipping (before its delivered, or at the same time once i findout how much itll be to get shipped or two separate separate payments OR?
Have you thought of NOT using free shipping? When adding the cost of shipping to the price of the item, the customer ends up paying sales tax on shipping cost. And, the seller has to pay Etsy their cut for shipping. It seems to me that the only people who win on "free shipping" is Etsy and state government. It hurts the buyer and the seller. It is a brilliant idea for Etsy. Whoever thought of it at Etsy is getting a ton of pats-on-the-back.
Hi! On small pieces I think it is worth listing with shipping price included and saying "free shipping" because many times the shipping is more expensive or just as much as the piece. When I listed those pieces without shipping included, it put a few of my interested customers off when they found our how much additional shipping costs were. I haven't tried it on larger pieces yet. I see the pros and cons of both though.
Hi Kacha, have been following your Instagram for a while, love your works, you inspire me to go for it too, because I have been flipping furniture for myself before. Just out of curiosity where from the us are you? Does it help to sell you local?
