I've been wanting this for years. There's so many possibilities with it from freighters to subs to cruise ships. People argue it would be "boring", but it's the same concept as flight sim just in the water.
I’ve always wondered why there was no true comprehensive ship simulator. I’ve seen RU-vidrs create simulations of marine accidents but it seems like they develop or model the simulation themselves.
I am from Norway. That currency is NOK, Norwegian Kroners. The map is just taken from google maps around Røst it seems. All perfect really. It is situated in the outermost part of Lofoten islands in northern Norway! At 0:42 you can even see the Skomvær lighthouse in the lower left part of the map. That is the outmost outpost in the Lofoten islands! Even the fuel prices seem realistic!
I grew up swimming and fishing in the Norwegian sea and it's amazing, this game also looks a lot like what you'd see out on the coastal areas in Norway.
Little advice for getting underway from a dock or slip, if the game permits it without massive amounts of damage. But if you make a hard rudder towards the dock then slowly give power, it will kick your stern away from the dock then you can reverse and straighten it back out before making headway. Then you will have more maneuverability to turn away and have a smooth exit.
I saw a storm on another video and let me tell you it was absolutely stunning, just really impressive. The white caps and water effects were incredible. Yeah, this sim is off to an excellent start there's so much they can do with expanding on this one. I am a big fan of Fishing North Atlantic so i'll be getting it really soon.
This looks like it has a lot of potential. Would be cool if you could use a racing wheel and the honeycomb bravo or another flight sim throttle. I wishlisted it on steam
Ooo some good additions to this game that would be cool. A in boat radio with proximity sound. Being able to draw out a route on the map and it would go on GPS as well. Sleep options and jobs at every dock.
i love that this game is based in Norway, such a beautiful place, and the only place i know to get all four season in one day. the currency there is Krones incase you were wondering. nice to see that translated into the game
One of the reasons developers put games in early access is precisely to find bugs. That's why it's called early access. When thousands start playing the game, bugs enter the assembly line. Great content from you Jeff as always. I'm going to buy this game.
Only 8min into the video, and I've just added it to my Wishlist. Genna wait one year at a minimum before buying it to let the game dev squish bugs and add more features. This is a beautiful looking game, and has so much potential.
Let’s goo thank you for checking out the game Jeff much love and appreciate I was happy when you saw my tweet about it can’t wait for full release hope you and cosmoballs have a good day
You know I've seen lots of negative reviews on this but as someone who perfers cargo over fishing anyways I think I might pick-up a copy on your review alone. Thanks for sharing!
wow this is a visually stunning game. Might have to look at this closely, As in IRL boatie and fisherman. I've always been keen on Ship/boat sims but have never really found one that piqued my interest. However this one looks very promising, the water effects are really good too.
I'm guessing the high level of reward is to offset the cost of continually repairing the boat. Just don't get so close to the quay, you only have to be in the dotted area to dock.
You can interact with the throttle levers directly by looking at them and holding 'E' and dragging the mouse. Press 'L' to bring up the boat's lighting controls (includes spotlight controls). Clicking the key will turn the boat on and off. I wish the horn sounded for the duration you actually hold the button. Imagine communicating via honking Morse code. I keep experiencing a bug that crashes the game. I think it's a memory leak or similar based on the Unreal crash report thingy. I might have to start a new game because I just completed a mission and as I return to base, when I get to a specific area, game crash. You can accept and run multiple missions. The most I've done in a single go was 3 and the most profitable combo so far was 2, which gave me over 120k in profits. The economy in this game is broken. Start a new game and skip the tutorial and start with 50k. It wouldn't let me use the...storage(?) to buy a new boat until I reached level 1. I had 90k at that point. The least-paying missions give 20k.
This was pretty awesome I enjoyed this alot and this game looks like tons of fun would definitely love to see u continue this and the graphics and everything in the game are amazing. And man at the wake from the lil row boat too was insane lol anyway keep up the great work much love to ya Jeff have a good one take care god bless and I will see ya on the next one
That's so funny! I played the crap out of Fishing North Atlantic and had this on my Wishlist, so I picked it up. Working pretty nice for EA. Had a few graphical issues off the bat, but didn't take long to fix. Sad part is I didn't realize (for the first job until the one where you fix the buoy) that you could hold shift to row faster! Only thing I would like them to tweak (at least for using Mouse/Keyboard) is that it feels like if you're using WASD it doesn't recognize your next input until you release the prior. Have you noticed that? Hey at least it doesn't take long to purchase your first boat! See ya in Outbrk! What are your thoughts on the upcoming Highway Patrol Sim?
Hey Stig! I did notice the controls doing that hence why sometimes you aren’t turning when you think you are. Highway patrol DLC seems meh but who knows.
Love how this looks! Normally I'm not into boats.. they're too slow and the scenery (the ocean) kinda sucks, because it's just a lot of water on the open ocean. In this game it seems you stay close to land though. I would've liked a more tropical kind of scenery though.. maybe that'll come later :)
Hey Jeff. Hope you doing well. Sorry, off topic for this video but I know you do ATS too. Do you know how to put chains on the trucks? Where can I find the mod?
Still waiting for a good powerboat simulator. Hopefully this title will feature some real life V bottom wave crushers in the base sim or DLC. Apache, Chief, Cigarette, Scarab, Nortech, etc.
Well game, you had me at picking up physical packages, carrying them to destination and then delivering them. So much better than having something on a list you just click on . Or maybe that's just me😅
this is in Norway yes, This is up in Nothern Norway, Kveldsbeita is a bit out from Bodø, south of Reine, As you can probably tell i am an Norwegian myself 🤣 also fyi 5:41 thats Norwegian krone, not USD. There is 10.58 NOK per USD, so what you have there is 51,073 NOK or 4,827 USD 22:58 this must be early spring time / winter time since its getting dark so early, since in the summer it stays bright up here pretty much 24h
Can you take multiple jobs at once? So you could deliver to Karoya and then onto Stoya? It would make the 7mph concept a little more easy to reconcile. I imagine you'd appreciate that new motor by doing it the way you ended up having to .
Just an fyi if you're still not using it. Autopilot is working to some degree. just have to watch it as it likes to veer from the plotted course from time to time.
This doesn't look that bad, but I'm old enough to remember Ilan Papini's Vehicle Simulator so compared to that, Ships at Sea looks super, super decent. I swear there was a VR ship sim wasn't there or is it this one I'm thinking of? There's a few, well, floating around so I can never seem to remember which is whichf
