Here's the official music video from the film Shiri, directed by Kang Je Gyu (Brotherhood) and starring Han Kyu-Suk (Scarlet Letter), Choi Min-Sik (OldBoy), Kang Ho-Song (JSA) and Kim Yoon-Jin (Lost).
I watched the movie in Tokyo in 1999 or 2000. No one in the theater left the seat until the credit rolling was over to listen this song. That was quite amazing to witness. Great movie. Wow it's been already so many years.
Sounds amazing. I went and bought this DVD and her album right after I finished watching the rental copy I got from Blockbuster Video (which dates me & the story) back then, too. Seven daffodils is another monumental track from Carol Kidd.
A excellent movie that I definitely need to re watch. A superb performance/rendition by Carol Kidd. Buy the CD, close your eyes and play it through a high quality stereo system. Excellent audio quality upload. 👌👌👌
This is one of those films which takes you in by its absurdity, its romance and its insane action... And then it ends with that final scene and you are left sitting there very sombre as the credits roll by. Very unique for an action/spy film.
Had been years since my first watching of this movie. Shiri is one of the best spy/action films to come out of Korea. I really enjoyed the suspense and intrigue that comes out of Shiri. Kim Yoon-jin plays a perfect assassin. Carol Kidd's "When I Dream" ballad adds a special touch.
LYRICS I could build a mansion that is higher than the trees I could have all the gifts I want and never ask please I could fly to Paris, it's at my beck and call Why do I live my life with nothing at all? But when I dream, I dream of you Maybe someday you will come true When I dream, I dream of you Maybe someday you will come true I can be the singer or the clown in every room I can call out someone to take me to the moon I can put my makeup on and drive the men insane I can go to bed alone and never know his name But when I dream, I dream of you Maybe someday you will come true When I dream, I dream of you Maybe someday you will come true
I saw this movie on tv in the early 2000s and bought the DVD right afterwards. It's definitely in my top 5 of Korean movies with Brotherhood/Tae Guk and The Wailing. Yunjin Kim also always amazes me with her acting here. I don't know if she actually matches Korean beauty standards with her slightly round face and very Asian eyes, but I always feel sad towards the end of the film because I feel the woman she plays in this film is such a loving and warm partner and I'd be happy to be with someone like that.
@bobbybulletbobson Just my two cents. I have the 2002 original theatrical version Columbia TriStar, Culver City, Calif which ends with the ocean scene and rolls into the credits. Great movie, 1999 winner of several Korean awards, well worth watching.
This is similar the story of Romeo and Juliet. "My only love sprung from my only hate." In this story, it was more saddening since the woman was pregnant and didn't tell her partner. Could've all been avoided. The thing though was that these two guys didn't know the woman became both their girlfriend.
Comprei o dvd depois de ler e gostei da história, me pareceu que seria interessante ... Valeu cada centavo ... Lindosssssssssss filme e música ... Vale a pena assistir :) :D ...
Though the movie was in Korean, I was still able to understand each topic as it was subtitled in English. One thing that caught my attention was when the both of the team leaders from each side were arguing in the control room. The N Korean team leader mentioned something about partners (husband and wife) eating the flesh of their deceased offspring as they were also dying of hunger and have nothing to eat while the S Koreans are living in a lifestyle were food is taken for granted and wasted.
This song was my Karaoke go-to "panty dropper" for a while after I heard it. Actually had 16 pairs of underwear thrown on stage one night. Must be my baritone.
