1989 Shirley Bassey appeared on the Les Dawson Show. She performed one of her hits, 'I Am What I Am. In addition Shirley and Les Dawson performed a comedy skit, and then sang a duet of the song, 'Tonight, I Celebrate My Love.

You can tell they both adored each other. I miss television like this, with actual proper stars with real talent. Les now long gone and Dame Shirley only performs rarely these days.

I met her once . not a lady to be messed with, loved her & she had a great sense of humour, & a mouth like a docker who stubbed his toe lol as I say she's up there with the best

I am truly blessed to have lived through the greatest years of the greatest stars in Britain. They will never be this brilliant again because we have lost the ability to be this funnily unPC. I was 17 when the Beatles started and lived through the magical 60s and 70s. Dame Shirley Bassey is incomparable. Les Dawson had the ability to make everyone, yes everyone, laugh at his monologues.

You're the same as me i was 17 in the 60ts how i would like me and my wife go back to those days of our youth and music ,i loved the BEATELS and the ROLLING STONNES, we never really appreciated the talent we had. And the singers we danced to, we have been together for 54 years, so our memories are special ,i love SHIRLEY SHE IS A ONE OFF. Give her the love and respect she deservers .

Absolute best of all time no one can sing the songs like her, her style is unique she puts her heart and soul into every song no one can sing the songs she sings like her she is one of the best entertainers we have ever seen. SHE is MAGNIFICANT. We will never see a better artist and singer in our lives and I'm proud to say she is WELSH

The Dame was and is magnificent. But what strikes me most is the warmth and affection that was evident between these two wonderful talents. It is really very touching and Les did a terrific job singing with the UK's greatest singer.

I don't live in England, so I don't know but remember it is political incorrectness that prevents sometimes people like Shirley from shining. For some, the political correctness may be an inconvenience, but some it is finally a relief since they no longer have to be subjected to some people's insensitive comments.

The BBC capped itself in the knee with extremely bad politics and woke nonsense. Truly talented people don't get to produce and perform anymore. Its now all about quotas and political correctness. Many are no longer paying for the licenses, and they have lost a lot of viewers.

Love Shirley's voice when she isn't belting it out like a fog horn. I appreciate her fantastic voice, though her style of singing is not my thing. Always thought she could murder any song, and often did. It was not cos her voice wasn't great, it was just that overdramatic style..She was a very beautiful woman, and from that clip looked very warm and friendly.

I love Dame Shirley. I don't think there is any other singer who comes close to matching her talent and style. But I Am What I Am is the only song of her's that I don't like. Very uncharacteristic for her repertoire.
