Foundation reviews are my absolute favorite--and yours are always awesome. As a 50+ , dry-skinned foundation junkie, it's especially nice to see someone who isn't too awfully young (and with perfect skin to start!) whose skin-concerns are so similar to my own. You've saved me buckets of money, but "cost" me some, too--and I appreciate both! Thanks for being here.
You couldn't have said it better- as a not English person who loves foundations and her 🥰 and her knowledge about makeup and especially foundations 💫👌 its so impressive! Thank you! Greetings from Helsinki Finland 🌞 Yey- spring vibes.. Charlotte
Can either of you recommend the best full coverage foundation that won't settle into fine lines and wrinkles? Tarte Amazonian Clay has been my holy grail forever. But I'll be 49 in a couple of weeks and I feel like it's just not working for me like it used to. Thank you!
@@beachbum1110 I wouldn't know, but I can definitely recommend checking out her website! She always mentions it at the end of foundation videos, and it has a ranked sortable searchable spreadsheet of all the foundations she's reviewed over the years - with links to each video! Really it's great! The link is in the description
I've worn this a bunch of times since filming - even with just a quick fingertip out the door application - and so far it works every which way, with or without primer, however I apply it. I am really enjoying this one!!
I’ve been on the fence on this foundation but I think I might have to try it now. My skin turned from oily/acne prone to normal/dry in the last couple years and I’ve been struggling to find the right products. Thanks for reviewing this one!
I've been excitedly waiting for you to review this one! I went ahead and bought this one a few weeks ago because I was just too thrilled at the thought of a full(ish) coverage WITH a dewy finish, and it has not disappointed. I've been pairing it with the Charlotte Tillbury setting spray since I wear a mask all day at work, and it seems to be helping it wear just as well with the mask. It's impressive, I'm loving it and think I might have found my new HG! Lancome Renergie Lift has been my go-to, but I wanted more coverage. This is like PERFECT!
This one holds up incredibly well. It does pretty well with masks too. I haven't worn a mask for a super-long time with it, but I have only had a tiny bit of transfer the few times I've run errands with it.
I've been using this foundation for a few weeks now and I absolutely adore it! I wear Oslo in Nars and (usually) 1C0 in Estee Lauder, I bought the shade 140 in this and it's the right depth but a little peachy on me so I may use this through summer and purchase 130 for Winter 💕
You do a fantastic RU-vid vid foundation review. I love the details you mention and the review at the beginning, middle, & end of your day. You’re awesome!!
Hi! I’m excited lol Hey, I know it’s a year later but I trust your review so I came to your channel and I just ordered this, I hope you are still enjoying it? It sounds really nice! I have the same skin type as you 🎉😊
@@goow Hi, I just tried it today for the first time and I absolutely love it! It might be my new favorite like holy grail, it looks perfect on my skin! Thank you ❣️✨
Please do a review of the new Dior foundation. It sounds a lot like this one. Many influencers are raving about it too. I don’t know if I should get this one or the new Dior. Please if you could review it soon. I love your reviews. You’re the one who got me hooked on the Makeup Forever Reboot.💖💖💖
Wow, this foundation looks great on you Shelly. I know I use the term 'smooth' a lot with your foundation reviews but this one is seriously smooth. :D The shade looks great too! Bummer about the application portion of the video but you still convinced me how good this product is. :) Have a great weekend Shelly. :)
Now I'm tempted to add this to my Sephora cart for the sale. I just got in the Dior Forever Natural Nude the other day. Gotta say...it's almost HG status for me. Hate the pricetag though. Thanks for another great review, Shelly!
Thank you for pointing out what kind of sunscreen it is (mineral AND chemical) right out the gate. I'm allergic to chemical sunscreens and they give me a terribly itchy, unsightly rash all over my face, hands, etc for days afterward! So I know this one isn't for me right away. Which is a shame, because it sounds amazing. But, c'est la vie! Lol The way you review things is so helpful! All the pertinent information about the products ASAP. I really appreciate it 💜
Absolutely lovely foundation on you! Wow 🥰 looking so beautiful as always! A little extra good today! I'm impressed and migh have to see, I need a new "go to" ..my skin has changed so much now in my 50's.. I need an everyday one and then..the perfect one..I'm so lost- I watch a lot of YT 😊 Thank you again for a great review👍 Xoxo Charlotte
The foundation looks gorgeous on you. I'm in love with the lipstick color. I definitely like the darker foundations on you. The color is beautiful. There's not one wrinkle on your face! It's a definite yes!! 💘❤ Shelly, you linked the wrong lipstick. Can you please tell me which Essence Nude shade you are wearing? Thank you!
Whoops updating now! Working on too many videos at one time lol - it's shade 05 Legendary in the Essence This is Nude line, but it doesn't seem to be at Ulta in this shade. I got mine at CVS - go.magik.ly/ml/14m6x/
Oh I just order this and my fingers are crossed it’s good. My other wise list is the Chantecaille foundations and Pat McGrath. I need to find something that will hold up to mask wearing for 6 plus hours
Fab been waiting for someone to try this. My hg’s at the moment are Dior natural nude, Mac face and body and chantecaille future skin gel foundation. I also like Estée Lauder but the shades aren’t quite right for me. Looking forward to this video!
loved that this worked for you because i've been wondering about this one. if you can get your hands on it, i would love to see a review of the kvd good apple balm. super intrigued to know how that will work with texture and dry skin, which is what i have.
I really wanted this to be a good one! Looks beautiful on you. Funny, my DH mentioned how sun kissed I looked the other day. Hehe Somehow, makes me feel better. Thanks!
I’ve had very good luck with Shiseido foundation ( great coverage for me!) and I have old skin 😁 it’s a close 2nd to Estée Lauder’s futurist hydra rescue ( for me) .
You look a little bit tanned but that is lovely♥️It is summer time♥️make up is a safer way to get that summer glow without having to hurt your natural complexion and keep it safe♥️
Dang this looks GOOD!!! So, if the 220 Linen is your summer shade, which would you choose for your winter shade?? I'm probably that shade, the Linen would be a bit dark for me... Enjoy your weekend!!
I'm thinking 140 Porcelain, which looks like a neutral with a tiny bit of rosy cool to it. I like to lean a tiny bit on the cool side when I'm at my palest. But I think 130 Opal would also work if you want to stick more neutral.
What did you end up putting it on with I know you forgot or whatever about the application but did you use a sponge or brush it really does look awesome
I would have done the nose ring side of my face with a damp sponge and the other/my right side with a brush. This one works well either way (and also works great applied with fingertips! I can't find a way to make this one go wrong!)
Hi Shelley, agree - this foundation is sooo pretty on you! I would love it if you could share what products you use to set foundation and any finishing powders you use? Even, how you apply them please?? I have similar skin to yours and paleness and I want to set my foundation but clueless and terrified of setting powders as emphasise fine lines etc. I need longevity and that airbrushed look. Loose or pressed powder? I don’t know!! 🙄🙄🙏🏻👍🏻😀😀😀❤️
Hi Silvana! I did not have to set this foundation with any powder (which is awesome!) When I do set with powder, I only set the areas of my face where I apply powders on top (cheeks and perimeter of face where I do blush and bronzer). Whatever is left on the brush then I'll tap over the rest of my face, but there isn't much left at that point. I prefer pressed powders and the two I use are Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish or the Flower Beauty Light Illusion powder. Here's a clip where I show how I set with powder: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-H1fOZio1CWc.html
I really wanted to see what the foundation looks like you before you any blush or bronzer over it. I can’t tell if it’s good for me. How is it on patches of flaky skin, textured skin? It’s not too radiant or greasy looking, which I like. What about transfer to a mask? Did you use a primer? If so, which one?
I wish I could've shown you that, but as I put on the screen in the video, my computer corrupted the clip of the application and prior to applying makeup, so I could not show it. All of the rest of the details on texture etc are in my master list (search Shiseido in the box at the top right of the spreadsheet). geekoutofwater.com/foundation-fest/ I have had good luck with this one under masks - slight transfer but not so much that it's visibly noticeable except on the mask.
This looks really great. I see there a citrus extract in there used for fragrance and I’m wondering if it would bother me. I will see if I can get a sample because this looks like it could be good for my kid’s wedding.
Ooooh that is a close call!!! Doggone. I've worn this one probably 4 times now so far and I am loving the heck out of it. I'd probably decide based on coverage. This one is a smidge higher coverage than the Dior, so choose based on coverage preference.
I love the PMG eye look but it definitely didn't look like the Taupes... unless you used it for a base to put the duochromes on. I mentioned it because you have the Taupes listed as your eye palette (unless I'm blind... which I could be). 😋😄 Have a great weekend! Hugs, k
@@goow no prob hon. I notice things like that but it's not really a big deal. I just thought I'd mention it in case it was something that you thought was a big deal (or something along those lines). 😁 Have a good weekend!
do u think it'd be good for super dry sensitive skin? I'm looking for a medium coverage dewy foundation that won't crease and looks like skin. My fiance hates thick makeup
Definitely good for dry skin I think. Sensitive it would probably depend what they're sensitive to. It does say it's dermatologist tested and non-comedogenic, but for example it's got a citrus peel extract in it and I know some people are sensitive to natural extracts like that.
@@goow I'm so glad! Can't wait! OK, can you give me one spoiler, though: Which shade did you try? You and I have about the same skintone, although I think yours is a perhaps touch cooler?. I felt like LN6 in the Lys was close to my skintone but a bit too dark. Which shade did you use in the Lys foundation and did it match? I'm thinking of trying the LP4, but I'm afraid it may be too pink for me. Although thanks to you, I tried the Cover Fx Natural Finish Foundation in P20 (rather than N20) and it actually matched really well! Not too pink!
Whoops goofed up my links! It's Essence This is Nude in 05 Legendary - go.magik.ly/ml/168y3/ - Ulta carries this line but not this shade for some reason. I got it at CVS.
Darn I just spent $27.15 on Milani's Screen Queen 2day (yes foundation's expensive in Canada)...but this I'll purchase next pay check Lol I'm a foundation junkie 😁
Ohhhh man..guess this is going in my cart! I’ve been curious about this! I liked the other sheisdo foundation tho. I wound up giving it to a friend tho, bc I got the wrong shade in it, but this one seems more up my alley anyways, bc I think the finish is a little nicer.
