I LOVE that you mixed in shit about disability access with race, ethnicity, dialect, and culture. Perfection!

and that is why there are so few of us (I'm dyslexic/have general language processing issues and physically disabled in a wheelchair/walking with double canes with chronic pain that limits my stamina) in higher ed - because accommodations for us even in K12 suck. I am a mom of 4 and my eldest (9 years old, 4th grade) has signs of the same language processing problems, and I'm trying to prevent his physical hypermobility from becoming painful like mine (our joints dislocate easily).

As someone with dyspraxia, (it would take a while to explain, just look it up) and Crohn's Disease (requiring occasional absences) I've found college to be a LOT better than high school. I've been able to use my laptop for notes in every class, and professors put up notes online. In high school, laptops were banned and there was no posting of assignments online. It depends on the college, and yes there are a lot of problems to solved. But I think it isn't nearly as bad as it is in high schools

Exactly what is "Standard English?"
@theletgotree

I was wondering that also! Looked it up and found: "In an English-speaking country, Standard English is the variety of English that has undergone substantial regularization and is associated with formal schooling, language assessment, and official print publications, such as public service announcements and newspapers of record, etc. "
