Shiva in his Natraja swaroopa has a very unique and stunning abhushan and accessories. This composition talks about all those elements that together make his majestic being. He has snakes around himself and Parvathy at his side as his better half. In them there is the unison of Thandava, the male vigour and Lasya, the feminine grace. The choreography also explores the concept of Shankaraabharana where Each swara of the carnatic classical music is used to represent one of the many items that adorn lord shiva s physical realm.
Sa- Kinkini or the sound of the gajjee
Ri - Puli thol or tiger skin
Ga - Bhasma or the burnt ash
Ma - Maan; te deer
Pa - Snake
Dha - Damaru; the mystic drum
Ni - Ganga the river goddess
The dominant emotion in the composition is bhakti where the dancers/ devotees are praising the lord s form, celebrating him and surrendering to him.
