I loved the Shivers books. My mom did a lot of highway driving for work and 1 of the towns she stopped in had a library with a bunch of these books so she bought me some. They weren't any better or worse than Goosebumps, but the Goosebumps tv series was great! And also terribly cheesy even for the 90s lol
I would have loved to discover these as a kid, but finding then as an adult has made it had to really gauge how they compare to Goosebumps because I have nostalgia goggles for Goosbumps
I wish I had discovered them as a kid as I can only judge based on reading them now. It's hard to imagine even thinking of Goosebumps books as having been scary.
My cousins were early teenagers in the 90’s so I got all of their hand me down books she had bought for them to read there. I had Goosebumps, Shivers, Deadtown and Fear Street but Shivers was actually my favorite because they were actually pretty scary. The Night of the Goat Boy was pretty creepy and Your Mommas a Werewolf is one of my favorite books I read as a child.

Awww man I read all 36 of these when I was a kid in the U.K budget goosebumps books. We didn't have a lot of money I remember the ps1 came out and I still had a Sega Mastersystem from the 80s. Anyway goosebumps was 3 Pound back in the 90s and a shivers book was 50p 6 books for 1. I read these as a child after completing them I moved over to the Goosebumps and couldn't dig them. It goes to show times have changed, we got what we was given when I was a kid. Now kids need to be the latest and greatest. Good times.
I want to write my own children’s horror book series, so I’m reading the Goosebumps books and any other similar ones such as American Chiller, Bone Chillers, Shivers, and any other.
I had a bunch of these. I always thought despite being a goosebumps rip off, they were just as enjoyable. Though i must admit, only one i really have strong memories of was Curse of the New Kid. Even remember the character's name after all these years. Lucas Lytle. It's strange because a couple of friends i've asked about the series also responded "I only remember Curse of the New Kid" I guess it was the best one. Or just a freakish coincidence. I wish i still had my copy. I look for it in charity shops often.

KB's Retrospective he told me it was called something like “Invasion Of road weenies” or something he’s says it’s called that cause it’s one of the stories in it
