Laura Branigan, through different interpretations, demonstrated that she was one of the best and very good female voices of the 80s. I personally believe that her voice, on the 1987 album TOUCH, reaches its highest peak in power. Although my favorite is still HOLD ME from 1985.

I can't comprehend how someone can have such a mega powerful, passionate, emotional voice!

I love Laura Branigan's discography! Her voice is incomparable, as she transmits so much when she sings, few voices achieve that. Although it is a cover, she had the characteristic of interpreting it even better, I think. 👏🏻

This was originally recorded by Jennifer Rush (I am not familiar with this artist). Laura Branigan's cover reached #26 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1987. In 1994, Celine Dion covered the song and took it all the way to #1. Celine Dion had a massive hit with the tune and hers is probably the most famous version. As for me, the song shows off Laura Branigan's powerful vocals, but this has just never been a favorite of mine, no matter who sings it. 😊

You probably heard Celine Dions version

You know, sometimes less is more. Laura had a really impressive voice and she could sing any which way - see Self Control and many others. Here she is just over-singing and the song gets buried under the vocals, which are almost histrionic. " A whisper in the morning" (admittedly she sings that part with some sensitivity) but as soon as the chorus hits it's boom bombastic, and she's off and the poor bloke has got his hands over his ears as the whole room shakes like an earthquake, wondering what this crazy woman is getting so worked up about. I actually blame the producer for not telling her to reign it in a bit. Imagine if she had sung it with a bit more sensitivity. It's a bit like Whitney's I Will Always Love you - Dolly Parton's subtle original expresses the sentiment of the song far better. As I always say, just my opinion folks, other opinions are available and equally valid.
