I would say that the Merkava Mk.2D is more worth it because of it's price, at 60 dollars with premium time and 2k GE. It's the best Merkava at the BR after the BR changes were made. Compare to Sho't Kal tanks, they are not that great at the BR. Sho't Kal Dalet/Gimel are both identical, they have powerful engine which can get them to speed in no more than a few seconds, but after the speed hits its limit, the tank starts to feel a lot slower. + The shell the Sho't Kal has is okay-ish at the BR, with the 337mm of max pen. + The armor is workable at the BR. + Loads of smoke grenades, you will not run out of them, ever. + It has rangefinder. - The lineup at the BR is not great. - Slow reload speed compare to other NATO tanks. - No thermal. - Mediocre mobility compare to other NATO tanks. - Minus 8 km/h reverse gear speed, which is worse than the actual Centurion tank that it was modified from. - You only get the tank upon purchasing it. Merkava Mk.2D is identical to the Merkava Mk.2B and Mk.1B, but with an upgraded sabot round with 408mm of max pen at 9.3 and composite screens around the turret and hull, decreasing the chance of a penetrated shell creating spall damage. + 2,000 GE. + 15 days of premium time. + Mobility is great, it's not the fastest, but definitely competitive. + Good firepower. + Gen 1 Thermal. + Faster turret rotation speed than the Sho't Kal. + Because of how the armor was designed, it won't stop any APDSFS round, but the engine at the front will definitely increase the crew's survivability upon being hit. + Amazing 9.3 lineup, can get along with A-4N, A4-E, Machbet, Magach 7C, Gal Batash, Merkava Mk.2B, Mk.1B, and other tanks slightly below the BR. + It's the best Merkava at 9.3, since the BR changes were made, you will be the most advanced Merkava at the BR you are playing in. + Very fast 23 km/h reverse speed. + x20 Commander optics. - Fixed x8 gunner sight. - Slightly worse mobility compare to other NATO tanks. - It is guaranteed that your tank will be demobilized the first shot you are hit by an enemy because of the engine and transmission placement at the front of the hull.
In my experience Sho't Kal Dalet is very best at its br. I have high winrate in it and also A-4E Skyhawk for close air support make team very powerful. In future I will go for Merkava premium during discount instead of going for Merkava. Sho't Kal Dalet, AML-90, Merkavas and A-4E skyhawk make a good line up at 8.7 br.
Nah the Maus is pretty average or even mediocre in War Thunder. I mean, look at 0:35. We can just one shot a tank that takes 15 minutes to reach the battle
