I have changed many shock absorbers In my time, and I have seen many bad ones. However, I do not believe that I have ever witnessed one that has a drip. Link to TOOLS and PARTS I USE...

Just what I need .. a good explanation on replacing shocks on a 2006 Chevy HHR. Others are too immature explaining "how to" .Either too impatient to explain, and skip information or they just don't know.

Thanks Juan! People should know what to look for even if just to be prepared for repairs. Shocks fail slowly over time,an can not be noticeable. However, just put some new ones on and the better ride and handling can be felt with the first drive.

I would suggest using a hand wrench when putting the bolts back in to make sure you don’t strip the retaining nuts.

Where did you jack up the rear to get both wheels off the ground or did you do one side at a time?

What is size of bolts in case mine are shot?

Top bolt shows...m12x1.75x81 Bottom bolt shows... m14x2x75 I believe... Bolt Depot... has these. Some suggestions are to use a hand wrench to tighten and loosen.
