Thank you so much, MrB48. I've been watching your cave videos--absolutely fantastic! And this vid about the trekking poles with shocks was neat to watch. I lost one of my poles down a waterfall (oops, taking a photo with the poles between my knees--heh heh, down she went!) and have been needing a new set. Thanks much, and happy to see get to know your channel and sub it! Jules

+steinwaygoat Hi Jules, Sorry about your pole! But you still have one, its better then none. Poles are sure nice to have! The shock poles work great! They seem to save your knees a little more! And when you get old like me you need all the help you can get!! Thanks Jules. :-)

very good advice. I just got back from a 27 mile hike up and down 7 mountains and im so glad I had my walking sticks even though I used my camera stand as a walking stick most of the time. lol

Trekking poles are great! I've been using them over 5 years now. Started using them when I did part of the AT back in 2009. I carry a set of Leki's, not only for incline and declines but they are very useful when you need to make wet crossings. It's pretty nice having two extra balance points. Oh ya, they are good for fighting back stray dogs too :-)

Oh man, what a funny story! haahha! I learned the hard way too. But once you use trekking poles, you never go back. They are invaluable. Did you hear about that lightweight bp'er up in Alaska? A Grizzly was coming at him so he threw his pole at the bear. The bear screeched and did a 180 shitting berries as it ran. Literally. There were stains on the rocks for 30 feet. Thanks for another great vid.

So far I've been comfortable using a single pole. Right now I carry a Cold Steel Big Bore blow gun with a cane tip on the end. Works great

Great advice and I agree 100%. Poles make a huge difference. I also use mine a lot for my tarp shelter setup. I have been stealing my wife's though, I probably should go buy my own...

Very good advice worth considering by anyone who does a lot of "walking around" or hiking in the outdoors. The trekking poles may seem expensive, but, what are your knees worth to you? Thanks for sharing your great videos with great insight my friend.

Excellent video and correct on all counts.. I learned going up the app trail the hard way like you did. Now I use them all the time ,, check out my videos ,, one of them incorporates a camera on one of my poles... keep up the great instructional vids
