Some overseas Chinese (but not all) tend to have the "colonial mentality" of worshipping Anglo Saxon culture while harboring disdain for any "non-white" culture (including their own). I know of at least one Hong Kong Chinese that moved to Canada, that still retains such a mindset.

My mother was very religious but she never indoctrinated me. She just allowed me to observe her lifestyle and make my own decision. This is true in some cases but most of Chinese students go abroad to learn and widen their views of the world. Meanwhile, how many American students are willing to travel and learn from other countries overseas?

With such a huge student population, the competition for the top schools and universities in China is understandably fierce and intense. Most Chinese would probably prefer studying in a local university to studying abroad, if they can help it. But they may choose to study abroad if they fail to qualify for local universities.

My personal outlook on these form of governments is that they're all corrupted. What matters is the degree of corruption. They can all be a good government for the peoples and also a bad one. It depends on the 'peoples' in the government, not the form of government itself. Of course, many would refute me on this but this is how I generally look at it. Still, it is quite disgusting how the West painted anything that isn't democracy as black with their influence.
