I just called my mom and I told her that there was a new baby alpaca and I didn't watch it all yet. Now I have to call her tomorrow and tell her there's two new babies. I call her every day she's 89.

Thank you for showing Patsy. It was awe inspiring to see a kid 'walk, nuzzle, 'speak' and explore their environment in two or so hours. I think we forget these milestones for humans can take two or more years. It just showed how adept and adapted other species are. The wonder of the babes exploring!

Yeah what a sweetie! Alpacas average gestation is 340 +/- 10 days. You posted video December 3rd 2019 were they were mating, so I would say Dolly gave birth almost exactly to the day. 😊

My wife said the exact same thing. And she's a veterinarian (DVM). I understand the family wants to bond with the babies. So they'll be able to approach and handle the off-spring. But just born, the baby needs to imprint with the mother. Or else, mom might reject her off spring.

Huston's mum very maternal has trouble not wanting to hold the baby, but I was getting a bit frustrated for the babies real mum. These animals are given a very good life by this family.

They are being domesticated. Which is good for getting used for a veterinarian to handle. Also makes it easier to handle especially during feeding and cleaning.

@@alexnelson9512 Thank you. That's exactly right. Do handle baby animals. But not immediately after birth while the mother is upset. It's unkind to the mothers. It's selfish. And it shows the babies by their mother's example that handling by people is bad. And these people were not "taming" the baby at all. Just carrying "it" around like property. Poor Tina. I'm glad that some people here understand that.

I'd spit on them too if was their alpaca ! They understand that they're causing them a lot of anxiety but go ahead and keep them apart anyway. I was distressed watching the first half of this video. If that’s the case on the naming, I would love to see the little boy named “Willie” for Willie Nelson to honor him and all of his accomplishments. And I would bet if you did that and let him know I wouldn’t be surprised if y’all didn’t hear from him personally or even a possible visit!

I liove my homesteaders, but why did the brown baby and momma have to go through sll that crying. She and her baby should have been kept ❤. Tina has a little more time with her baby before you stepped in and picked up the baby. No trying to sound mean. Just seeing that momma want her baby, was heartbreaking 💔

I think Kenny would be a perfect name, since Dolly Parton was close friends with Kenny Rogers! You might want to iodine those umbilical cords, because if bacteria gets in the cord, an infection can go up the cord and settle into very swollen joints! Congrats! I loved the surprise and DJ's reaction!

Well those two are about the cutest babies I've ever seen!!! All this time you've had donkey-poodles, I've tried to imagine how little their babies would be! These are the first newborn alpacas I've ever seen!!! I bet their hair feels like silk, huh? It was so cute watching big sister, Lucy, being protective of her baby brother! Every step Tina and baby took, Lucy was on the opposite side protecting him too! I got a name suggestion...since Lucy is Tina's older daughter, you could call him Desi (Lucy and Desi) or Ricky (Desi's name on the I Love Lucy show)!

Tremendous blessings! I have never seen a baby Alpaca before, but thanks to the Arms family I saw Patsy this morning, let me catch up to find out Tina's baby name.
