I’ve got an 8x10 b/w photo of Jean Harlow in a gorgeous evening gown and several different sized photos of Shirley Temple personally autographed for my mother, Shirley. My great Aunt was a very kind and gorgeous woman who worked in Hollywood, as the secretary to singer/actress Frances Langford. She travelled the world and is featured anonymously in 1973 the “Best of Life” magazines hardback book. She was gambling at a roulette wheel, my family was shocked to see her when my dad purchased the book.

I read Shirley Temple's book CHILD STAR. The "abuse" you allege was not as you report. What you referred to was her first movie experiences on the low budget BABY BURLESQUE shorts. She mentioned being put in an old camera sound proof box when she misbehaved or didn't pay attention. She admitted that she learned to stay focused from that experience and did not experience that any more. All of this happened before her career took off at Fox Films and later 20th Century-Fox. During that period, she was under the supervision and care of her mother. There were not reports of abuse during this period. In fact, she was quickly sent home when Lionel Barrymore had trouble remembering his lines and let loose with a series of profanities. She nicely reminded him of what he was supposed to say and he didn't like it. She wondered what she had done to be sent home. The inappropriate conduct happened after Shirley left Fox and went to MGM. In her book, she cited Arthur Freed exposing himself to her, and she laughed at him, resulting in him ordering her out of his office. When she told her mother about this, she said that Louis B. Mayer tried the same thing with her! THESE are the accurate facts as stated in Shirley's book.

It does not surprise me that children have always been targets of abuse. So have I, because of my looks. Most of these rats never get caught or are brought to Justice. I worked in Hollywood North here in Toronto as part of the production crew mostly, and I have say that while I it wasn't always perfect, compared to Hollywood California, it was a bloody utopia. You couldn't pay me enough to cross the border and work in the industry there. I might have frozen my arse off here during our Canadian winters working long hours outside sometimes, but over all it was way better than the Hollywood described here in this video. Animals and kids were very well treated, monitored and only allowed to work a certain amount of hours in the day. Lack of diversity here, maybe in the earlier days, but certainly not now. Has anyone seen The Handmaid's Tale, Law and Order Toronto: Criminal Intent? The latter is a regular United Nations by way of casting. And they're certainly not stereotyped to "menial" roles like the blacks in Hollywood, US...Just saying.

This is the truth of the last time we saw Andy Kaufman on TV. A beautiful blonde young woman accepted Andy's wrestling challenge. They started wrestling & she proved to be surprisingly strong & good at wrestling. She quickly got Andy in a neck hold. He usually wore an ascot scarf around his neck & this was the same. As it turns out, Andy was hiding a huge medical problem with the scarves. When she grabbed his neck & squeezed, a huge boyle (~3 to 4 inches across) on the back of his neck released a huge amount of white puss!!! It was horrifying!! She stood up & showed the audience & TV camera, explaining what she had just found on his neck. The camera got a shot of it. She said she was going to sue & it was not part of the show, but a medical threat to her. Andy walked off stage, yelling, "It is the END OF THE WORLD!!!" several times as he exited the stage area. I sat there stunned, I always liked him. Why didn't he simply go to a doctor a few YEARS before that, & have it taken care of properly?! That is the exact truth of what happened & was on TV that night.

All movies and TV productions should by law be required to have Child Protective Services lectures given to juvenile actors. Next all productions will have a CPS Officer on scene with no restrictions. These CPS services to be paid in full by movie and TV producers.

Actors also worked directly for the actual studios as employees back then as well vs now. While there's still powerplay & I appropriateness- it's nowhere near how crazy it used to be. There also never was such a thing as a 'reality star' or 'views' - you can't mix the generations here as though it's all just 1 thing...
