Read my review on this flight at Simple Flying: simpleflying.com/a-bad-experience-delta-one-los-angeles-new-york-jfk/ UPDATE: A senior member of staff at Delta took the time to get in touch with me to offer me an apology for the experience. @@EliEFloyd He put it in the article version "I visited the lavatory and told the crew lead, who half took apart the seat to find discarded rubbish (and I mean a LOT of it - papers, grease, fluff, food particles) in the seat mechanism. Once this was removed, I was able to recline finally!"
I used to be a flight attendant and remember LAX being notorious for shitty catering. I wasn't surprised the food was horrible, but I was definitely shocked at the state of the aircraft. That's unacceptable.
This is why U.S. travelers are shocked and surprised when they fly business class on Asian carriers to Asia at the level of sophistication, comfort, and service they receive. They put U.S. Airlines to SHAME !
D'Nae Lewis early trust me Early Looking for tickets either Back of the plane Is horrible I suggest getting front of the seats that's likely cleaned by the attendants
Book early for international and fly during off season for best prices. If it’s a domestic flight, I’d buy about 90 days out. Prices tend to do a dip around this time before shooting back up. Use Google and set a price drop alert for your desire route. If you’re flying solo, won’t be checking a bag, and don’t care about where you sit, go for basic economy and save yourself some money.
@@ddebenedictis doesn't matter the cost differential, you build brand loyalty by delivering a quality product in a consistent fashion with distinctive service, that kind of formulary builds brands and is quite difficult to compete with.
The thing us that on a 767, the standard seats in economy are at leat 18 inches wide. Some of the wider seats the industry for economy. But you would think that business would be at least 22 inches wide.
I actually like Delta Airlines, i think they are a good airline and the Boeing 777 i went on from Hartsfield Jackson Airport to Mumbai was pretty good, good food and pretty quiet.
IDK. I think Spirit still wins that one. The one time i flew Spirit I found the flight crew to be rather.. rude.. I guess. and it was just to me, but to most people on the flight.
The general cleanliness of the seating area was poor. I just wonder what the galley was like. The cleaning should not be reflected in the age of the aircraft.
@Michael Raffi , for People such as myself with limited payed leave from work ,I want to spend as little time as possible getting to my destination so I can enjoy what little time I've got for vacation .
Yousri Chaachoua not nearly as nice from my experience a while back. The seats don’t tilt, the screens are above your head, not in front of you, and the food isn’t as nice.
Cooking with Andrew That doesn’t mean a thing when there’s dirt _literally embedded_ in the plane. Your argument is shallow at best. Can _you_ deep-clean a plane in 7 minutes?
Small hint about cookies: If it's hot, let it cool to lukewarm. It's like really hot plastic, just edible. They firm when they're cooled, and flimsy when heated.
That is a sign that the ice cream has completely melted and then been refrozen. It's very dangerous as it can cause food poisoning - full of bacteria. I have returned to the supermarket ice cream that is frozen like this. I know it has been melted and refrozen.
"While the Wifi did connect-" *Wifi in house cuts off for a few minutes randomly.* You mean this isn't something people have to deal with every 30 minutes - 2 hours?
I know this is meant to be quite funny but here is a serious tip. Buy a new, good router. Nowdays, WiFi is just as good as a wired connection for every averge consumer that doesen't want to transfer terrabytes of data through the own network. I own an expensive Asus router (about 300 dollars) from 2017-2018. I have the full 100MBit of my internet through 2 massive brick walls and 7 meters straight distance. (Or about 800MBit/s transfer speed) The router and wifi never laggged, crashed or something else after more than 2 years of operation. Connected are about 20 devices at the same time, but obviously not all are used at the same time all the time. Sure, an good router is expensive but it is definitely worth every buck. And ocnsidering that they made a significant jump in performance since the last 2 years is also nice. Really, the internet problems I ever had since then was comming from the provder itself. I just wanted to leave that here :D
Jeb Brooks and his million miler Delta card are gonna be disappointed by this Paul. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I like Jeb and his reviews as well as yours. Thanks for always being an open and honest reviewer. Edit... Next video in the queue after the video finished. Jeb Brooks- Delta Air Lines Refurbished 777 video! 🤣
As a KLM employee, I'm not surprised. My wife and me were travelling from Chicago back to Manchester with American Airlines and as we boarded, we were told or IFE was not working in our seat rows. After take off everyone was moaning about it so I took it upon myself to sort it out. I went to the Bulkhead and checked and sure enough, the main plug was off. I reconnected it and low and behold, it worked !!!!!!!!!! The Flight Attendant lost it with me totally !!!!!!!!! So I showed her my FAA Maintenance License and she calmed down. After about 30 mins I was invited on to the Flight Deck and the Captain thanked me. Didn't get ant freebies though ........ LOL. I think the cleaners must have knocked it off
@jonybeam most of them are like that though? It's just a vanity project, flying around the world in first class (how they pay for it I don't know, they're either getting handouts or it's someone else's money is my guess) and dressing it up as flight reviewing. Reviewing what? A product most people won't ever use no less those that are probably watching their videos... simply put these guys with cash to splash and a desire to travel have worked out that you attract hundreds of thousands of subscribers showcasing something the vast majority of people will never ever see. It's a pretty clever idea and fair play to them but I just wish more of them would be honest and admit it's all about vanity, because then I'd have a lot more respect for them.
It’s definitely sustainable to pay for your travel yourself and run a channel like this. For example, my channel is averaging over 1.5 million views a month. The Adsense alone covers my expenses.
Disappointing. Very frustrating to see the underwhelming experiences you’ve had with the US legacy carriers. I used to dream about getting the frequent flyer status to obtain the upgrades to the premium cabin. Now, I’m almost convinced I’d be just as happy with a window seat on a budget carrier. Another informative and entertaining review, Paul!!
Delta frequent flyer system is a rip-off. It's designed to stop you getting stuff for free for loyalty. Fare tend to be more expensive, FF is a joke, and quality tends to fail at all the wrong times. Delta seem to want to make a buck before everyone gives up on them, or at least do no better than the main competition. Alaska is a better deal, but not that much beyond the western half of the US, unfortunately.
Honestly I'm sick of those Dashlane ads, and my comment about how fishy Dashlane sounds was deleted, of course. How much do they pay you?! Now dare to delete this one again...who cares about freedom of speech when they pay you? If they're spending so much money on advertisement it means they sell your data. There's no way they can afford to pay that many people for advertisement AND pay their developers AND pay the servers with just the revenue from the premium service. if it's too good to be true or if it's free, you're the product being sold.
Luis Villa just the opposite. Businesses like airlines are so highly regulated on the administrative and mechanical as aspects as well as labor, that they have no other choice but to skimp on the part of their business that’s presented to the customer. Simply because they can afford to provide shitty service and uncomfortable conditions and you’d still fly because there’s no other choice.
American Airline company leaders focus on making money. United Airlines CEO earns $12 million a year while United has a bad reputation while an ANA (Japanese based airline) CEO just put his salary to only $90,000, and a Japanese monk who became CEO of Japan Airlines worked hard to save the airline from bankruptcy and both ANA and JAL are now 5 star airlines.
I've been watching a lot of your videos lately. I hate flying just because of all the slow processes and steps involved. Maybe I'd enjoy it more if I made a video about each experience. At least I'd feel like the time wasn't completely wasted.
mading Actually they are stored on board with dry ice packs. There is nothing to stop the crew thinking ahead and removing the dry ice so that the ice cream isn’t rock hard when distributed. I know - because I used to be crew!
i hope you have flown delta one since this video, not sure if you have. however i would like to point out that delta has updated almost all of their fleet with both economy, economy plus, and delta one. i’m sure you know this but this should be noted by any one else who sees this video. i flew delta one to japan before it was updated and i can attest that the old first class was quite brutal. however having recently traveled on delta one to japan again, i was very surprised and satisfied with their upgrade.
I watch an American VLOGGER Jeb Brooks and he says Delta is the best. He has just finished 1 million air miles with them. I think you had the misfortune of being on an old aircraft. The meal looked dreadful for business class, some improvement needed there.
My Delta experience (since you asked!): First of all, this was many years ago. After my story, you'll understand why I don't choose Delta as a first choice for my admittedly infrequent flights. The part of the flight that turned out to be a good decision was white-knuckle flyer me -- not usually, but that day (premonition?) -- taking a Xanax before we took off. I was seated towards the very back of the aircraft, Starboard window. The flight was ATL to DFW. We were awhile into the flight, when smoke began sifting out of the overhead air vents (the little round ones, that you rotate.) The next thing I knew, a Flight Attendant went *running* up the aisle with a fire extinguisher. The air/smoke was turned off for several minutes; when it was turned back on, the smoke began again. The passengers (many International, I had noticed earlier) were, surprisingly to me, *completely* silent, save for one young lad who plaintively spoke: "Fire, Mommy." My memory fails me as to whether the Captain spoke first, or the oxygen masks deployed first. We were instructed to put them on until we were "below 10,000 feet." We were also told that we would be continuing into Dallas. I remember fixing my gaze outside my window, to see the ground w-a-y down there. We kept on the masks for 10-15 minutes, until the Captain said we were now below 10,000 feet, and could remove them. I think I just kept mine on. Eventually, we landed safely enough, (don't ask "how much later?" because it seemed like an eternity!) and, as we deplaned, some adult male passenger happened to have a disposable flash camera (this was, again, many years ago, even before cellphones). He turned around and took a photo of all the oxygen masks hanging down. I wished I could have had a copy of that photo! There were *so many* "Red Jacket" a/k/a Service Reps awaiting us as we deplaned. It was then I realized I had left the dress clothes which were for my Aunt's funeral (the reason for my trip) in the hanging section. I approached one of the Red Jackets and said, "Sir, I left my clothes for the funeral on the plane." Such a *look* he gave me, but the clothes were fetched. Surviving this drama changed my airplane travel in two ways: 1. I rarely book Delta. When this is a subject of discussion, my usual comment is, "I don't have good luck on Delta." Then again, I probably had *awesome* luck that day, and I'm certain some who know much more about flying an aircraft than I do would say the successful end to this event *should* mean that I *always* book Delta! Anyway, moreover: 2. I get really irritated when passengers don't pay attention to the safety talk at the beginning of the flight. I want to stand up, turn around, and say, "Listen *up* , people! You may need to *know* this!"
The 75$ compensation is laughable, but at least they did something about it. Interesting that there is such inconsistency across aircraft and routes...
Okan Turkcan i was degraded from Premium Select to Economy comfort due to an equipment change on my last flight from Fra to Dtw, Delta offered me a 50 dollar voucher and kindly requested me to fuck off. Being a Platinum frequent flyer at KLM I didnt accept that and went to KLM who hosted my status, got a 500 euro voucher, the ticket price refunded and deep regrets and apologies but for Delta’s unsatisfactory and Skyteam unworthy behaviour. Unfortunately as the Platinum desk employee stated they receive a lot of similar complaints about Delta offering terrible service, rude staff and old equipment. Just boycot Delta they deserve to go bankrupt.
75 usd on a 2200 usd ticket is near as makes no difference nothing... They should just treat passengers nicely and with respect, and they just dont seem to care about that as the competition is not present...
Delta is the marriage between Northwest and Delta. It’s kinda hard to have a coherent product when you’re the result of two companies making one. Even their pilot seniority lists aren’t fully merged yet
@@TomCook1993 Sadly, Northwest should have survived in my opinion, They were always friendly and never had any issues with their Staff/Equipment. But yes, the merger I don't think has completed.
@@badgerattoadhall Try Swiss, that's awesome (or Lufthansa in general). Of course, my judgment may be influenced by the fact that the seats next to me and in front of me were empty, and that we landed 1 hour early, but seat width and leg room were fantastic.
I flew Delta One round trip from Seoul to Atlanta, and my return flight was similarly disgusting. When I boarded the plane, there were white footprints all over the carpet. The flight attendants were scrambling from cabin to cabin (no dedicated DO staff for this flight!). The amenities were strewn in each seat rather than being placed neatly. Everything was grimy. My seat controls weren't functioning properly, and the seat in front of me didn't function at all and the passenger had to be re-seated. The "noise cancelling" headphones were a complete joke. I've had more luxurious and comfortable flights in economy class with other airlines. I will NEVER fly Delta again after that experience.
The International airplanes in Atlanta are from the old northwest and are being updated all the time, it just takes a long ass time because they have to move them all the way from around the world and doubled their fleet size, but there almost all gone. If you want a much nicer interior do LAX, or MSP for Asia. And JFK or MSP for Europe.
Agreed. The 767-400 isn’t that old, relatively speaking. That is their older Delta One product, which has improved since this, most notably the IFE, screen, and seat. Nothing wrong with the aircraft itself. The crazy thing is Delta is retiring 777-200’s with near brand new interiors, much nicer than this, thanks to COVID-19.
I'm quite surprised by the cleanliness issue. As you said, that was more than a miss on one pass through. I'm a Delta loyalist and I've never encountered filth like that. Broken equipment, yeah, never such filth.
I'm flying Delta one on this same type of aircraft from Detriot to Paris and this is making me scared! But he is really only judging the cleanliness of the plane, not all are the same.
They were purchased by DL and CO as direct replacements for their L1011’s and DC10’s respectively. Identical capacity, slightly better range, and of course lower costs.
100% UNACCEPTABLE! Business class tickets are NOT cheap, and regardless of the age of the aircraft or the distance being traveled, I would be appalled by this nonsense, I'd defintely also want to talk to someone at the Delta corporate office.
One of my first flights was on a Delta TriStar. I was 7 and we were headed to Disney World. It was Thanksgiving day and they served a slice of rolled up deli turkey with gravy-esque food-type liquid product on it for lunch. It was probably actually disgusting, but I'd give anything to have that again.
(1) I sincerely hope someone/anyone from Delta Corporate watches this. Christ, this experience was a disappointment. (2) US transcon in premium cabin is undoubtedly the best on AA (A321) and JetBlue Mint. (3) That pink/green cactus shirt is 🔥.
Wow...this makes me appreciate just taking economy class when I have to fly on Delta and paying (and praying) that I just get an aisle or window seat and knowing that I did not have to pay all that money for craptastic food, 2 chocolate mint balls, dirty sleeping arrangements and the knowledge that you could have taken AA or something. Just...ewww.
@@khanchy when the government basically gives money to the airline like Emirates and Qatar its basically easy since the company operates almost freely and does what the government wants. United, American and Delta operate on their own dime and all of the cleaning is done by contractors who don't care if an aircraft is clean is or not as long as they get paid and that's it.
I had more or less the same experience with Delta on an international flight. Business was full so I requested a cleaning crew to do something about the filth. They actually did and we got delayed for 1 hour. Food was lousy too by the way. For me, Delta, never ever again !
Delta needs an express team that can detail the interior of all their planes. Delta is best but the interior if you noticed needs more cleaning. Hire me!!!!! Lol
I was really shocked when I saw you Instagram story about this so I've been looking forward to this video. Really surprised with Delta for just how bad a flight you've had, flew with them in economy on one of their A330s from Atlanta to Amsterdam in march and it was pretty good. If I was carrying onto TLV on that aircraft I don't think I'd want to get back on... 😬
Don’t fly in United’s old 767 business class. There once was a piece of duck tape keeping the tray table compartment together. I’m sure the new first class is way better.
Thanks for your videos! :-) I flew transatlantic in economy with Delta two years ago Amsterdam - Salt Lake City - Paris. I remember that the meal service especially on the daytime flight was more than plentiful, in fact we arrived in the US quite stuffed. The quality was not bad.
I can only imagine that the "less than clean" experience you had is due to the wages the employees receive to clean several aircrafts within a very short timeframe!!! You get what you pay for and $8.25 isn't much! "You", as in Delta.
@Maya Ennouni I couldn't agree with you more. It is not the passengers fault and they should receive the experience they expect. It is Delta's fault for removing high paying employees, replacing them with Contracted employees making $8.50/hr, removing flight privileges they once had, and running shifts at less than 50% required. You can't expect employees to take a pay cut, lose benefits, have increased healthcare premiums and continue doing the quality of work they once did.
I can't believe how privileged people have become. There are literally people starving to death and this guy complains about his service? Even worse; people are watching this and agreeing with him and thanking him? Go do something meaningful that will help out your fellow human!
And here you are, complaining about a video that was literally free for you to watch. I assume you are sending your message from Syria where you are helping out in a refugee camp - surprised the WiFi is strong enough.
rick berland It actually is really good. I flew from jfk to san diego on economy and economy plus (premium economy) and they were both very good. I would fly those instead of delta one on a transcon route.
I couldn't help but laugh out very loud at that rock hard frozen ice cream. What the hell was that? How did they manage to get the ice cream temperature wrong?🤦♂
