You are the first channel that talks specific about the time managment considering the crhonometer number. THIS IS A MUST! It's more important than the English part itself. Even those who definitely know english can fail at this exam due to the lack of time management. Thanks for your content!
hi and thank you for sharing your valuable experience. I was wondering if I can use my own knowledge on a certain topic when I am on the writing task. for example if it is speaking about a certain branch of philosophy, am I allowed to use and kinda add my own knowledge to the analogy or I just should use the provided information? thx in advance@@NoteFullTOEFLMastery
I took my TOEFL exam two weeks back and scored 105. R-25, L-30, S-24, W-26. I consider myself somewhat good in English and hence thought I didn't need much practice. Though I was a little worried about time management and trust me guys this video is all you need if you're worried about it too. I watched this video like 5-6 times in the two-day span before my exam. Trying to understand what my pace should be. I never tested these timings on a mock test but you can do so if you want. All I wanted was to get an idea of what pace I should be following while taking my exam. In my personal opinion, this video is really really helpful for the reading and writing sections as you have an ample amount of time over there. It got a little confusing for me in the listening section as I knew I was solving questions faster than I was supposed to. So after my second listening question, I stopped keeping track of the time. Managing time in the speaking section is really tough. You really need to memorize it down to the last second. I struggled to keep track of the time as there was too much going on in my brain at that moment. I ended up messing up my 1st question of the speaking section and hence decided to not bother about the time for the next three questions. I think that time management isn't for everyone. It is an important skill but you need practice to be good at it. So don't stress if you aren't able to manage your time as well as others. just do whatever works for you. but if you want to learn how to manage your time during your TOEFL test, this video is the best one I've come across.
Thanks so much for this video. I know it will be of great help for many of us. I'll be taking the test soon and i have faith and know that I'll definitely get a great score. To anyone reading this, kindly pray for me and wish me success 🙏. Thank y'all and be blessed.
where can I find test samples for new TOEFL exam? since it is very new do you suggest using the old version of TOEFL exam samples to practice some sections like the speaking? thx again@@NoteFullTOEFLMastery
Joseph! You're the best instructor ever! I started watching your videos back in 2010 with the aim to sit the TOEFL iBT one day... and take my English to the next level. Currently, I'm working in the US and finished my master's last Dec in KY. Thank you for your tips! Saludos desde Perú.
Thank you so much for your kind words and texting this. I’m happy to be still connected with you through the videos. Congratulations on your job. Bravo! I wish you nothing but continued success. 🙏
I recently did it. I found no difficulty with time in Listening & Reading, but I ran out of time in Speaking & Writing even though I’m almost a native speaker. Ironically, Writing & Speaking were my highest grades😅
Hello, i would like to know the difficulty level of the reading section? Were the passages complex and tough to understand? And do you mind sharing your scores?
@@saqibchowdhury7679 Just make sure to not waste your time reading the article before doing the questions; you’ll lose a lot of time. I’d say it was a little bit more advanced, but the structure of the questions are exactly the same, which is good. I think there’s no need to share my results but I got the lowest grade in Reading, which was 23/30
Very very important and useful information!! Your calm voice and explaining really helped me to relax before my test tomorrow, thank you very much for your effort!
If you, a native speaker of English and a long-time teacher of TOEFL itself struggle and find the test challenging, what about a learner of English whose challenges are even more? This makes me wonder if the test was meant to be so challenging so the majority of students keep failing and repeating until they get the score they want. ETS focus is money, not the test taker's language efficiency! And why do universities not accept the test credentials after two years? Am I going to forget the language after two years?!!
Literally only watched this video as prep, and gave the test today. I got a 30/30 on both reading and listening, the time management made it very easy, thank you!
I haven’t received my score for the other two yet, but my writing went very well too, the time management tip helped me frame my answers very well. Using the time stamps with speaking requires a lot of practice though, I couldn’t keep track of time for that bit.
Fantastic! 👏 So happy to read this. Thank you for sharing this comment. That was the entire purpose of working on this video and getting it on RU-vid as fast as possible. GOOD LUCK with your results!
You saved my life man!!! I am taking the test tomorrow, and it did help me to be well-prepared, particularly in time management. Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This comment made my day. #TeamWork. I made this video exactly for YOU and others in your situation. There was no time to lose to get this out. Good luck! I really hope it helps on your test day. 🙏
I absolutely love your content . I watched all your videos and gave my toefl a few days back and got a awesome score all because of your tips . Thankyou sir .T
That’s awesome! Congratulations! Thank you so much for sharing this. It always encourages others to know that Success is possible with hard work. Very happy you enjoy the content too. 🙏
First time I scored 88, and after listening to notefull I scored 103. Reading 28, and the rest 25! Very grateful for these videos. Time management on reading is the king
Hey Joseph, I gave exam on 3rd Feb and just got the results today. Scored 99(R:22, L:26, S:23, W:28). I fumbled a bit in reading, expected 25 but the total overall score is more than enough to apply for Masters degree. I would like to thank you and Notefull for all the resources you provide. You are truly the 🐐of TOEFL exam guidance.
I'd like to know the exact number of questions that will come in the listening section because the ets website states that the total number of questions will be 28...is that so? And your content is superb and highly beneficial to many of us. Thank You!
I want to say a big thank you for Joseph. I passed TOEFL only after taking your Notefull self study classes. My reading score was 18 and my speaking score was 23 before taking Notefull. I followed all your instructions and methods. Thereafter, I witnessed a great improvement in my scores. My reading score jumped to 25 and my speaking score to 27. Also, I followed your strategies for new TOEFL writing question and I got 27. I am forever grateful for you.
@rulahaddadin8120 I went with his self study plan. Watched all his videos there first. Timed and organized every sections as he said. Kept on practicing.
Haha. Thank you for texting this. I think it’s also because I tend to speak slower now as a result of teaching for over a decade. But, I hope it’s also because I speak very clearly. Plus, it’s probably because your skills are quite strong too. 💪
I could not even do the new TOEFL Home Edition, because ProctorU had "technical issues" - I've waited for 3 hours, when I was canceld. I wrote the support - since today no answer from ETS! I feel totally scammed!!!
Hey Joseph, when will you create more content for the academic discussion question? As I'm planning to take my exam on the 20th of August. And thank you for the great effort, you are an amazing teacher and doing a wonderful job in helping us.
We plan to release a video about TOEFL writing question 2 over the next few days. Until then, for extra help, please check out our previous Facebook Live class on it: fb.watch/m7Dk7vtBZJ/ Appreciate your kind words and happy to have you as a student!
It is 100% okay. During the course, I provide my personal number for students to text me if they have any questions about studying. That way, you can attend the classes you can, watch any classes you missed, and know you'll still have a personal connection with me if anything comes up. Remember there's a lot of great BONUS content to help you when you join the course. Excited to work with you this month! www.notefull.com/product/astonishing-august-complete-toefl-gold-course-23/
Sir I have exactly 4 weeks to prepare for TOEFL i already gave it once but didn't get through I wanted your help to get through it Reading is what I had real difficulty in others I feel with practice i can be better ...so i really need your help ... I checked you site but all 4 together I wanted toru assistance
Thanks so much for this video! I will have my test tomorrow. I am a bit stressed, but with this time management technique I feel more relaxed. Will write here my experience and results.(Hope it will be ok).
Hi Sir, If possible, give us some information on the question types reading and listening sections, indicating which question types are deleted or even given more frequencies. Thank you in advance.
Hi sir, I need more practice in the reading section of the TOEFL Test . Could you please introduce me where I can get more practice ??? Thanks a billion .
Thanks 🙏 I purchased diamond course and I have never take Toefl exam before on July 26. After I decided to take it which test is changed. I don’t know whether I am lucky or not. I hope new version is eaier than before. Good luck 🍀
GOOD LUCK! And, don't worry; the new exam is challenging, but you can do it. Overall, I think it has some nice benefits over the previous exam. But, again, it still demands a lot of hard work and focus. Your Diamond Course will guide you to success and we're here to support you if you encounter any issues along the way. YOU CAN DO IT!
Thanks so much! I would like to know whether we can still see the reading passage after the listening during the time we speak in speaking question 2&3? Thanks!
Great question. 1) If you've never taken the TOEFL before, you ideally want to study 40 hours: approimately 10 hours per section. This will ensure you get the highest possible score with your current English skill level. 2) If you've taken the TOEFL before, or know you need improvement from practice tetsts, study 100 hours for every 4+ points you want to improve. This will ensure you improve and don't waste your precious time or money on TOEFLs that you're not ready for. GOOD LUCK with your studies!
Out of 2passages, there are 20questions.,.what is the total number of raw score that one can get in both the sections? Suppose in the first section I get all the nine questions correct but get the last onewrong which was worth 2marks.what is the raw score that i get in my first secton and also its equivalent scaled score
Thank you for your videos! I have a question… they have given me 50% extra time for disability, do you know how this works? Do you have any experience with people who have taken the test with accommodation?
Hi Joseph! Should we refer to the student's comments while doing Writing Task 2 or can we simply ignore what they've said and present our own idea? How did you formulate your answer in the exam? Did you mention the student's names or explain why you agree or disagree with their comments or did you just write your own opinion?
The interesting thing is that it's up to you. The TOEFL has released perfect example answers for writing question 2 that do not mention any of the student posts. That makes sense since they want you to "contribute to the coversation" with what you write rather than repeat. But, if you can (don't stress about it since it can be a little tough and it's not necessary to score a perfect on this question), I do teach advanced students to include a short statement (just a few words) that references a remark from a student's post. This shows higher-level integration of information in your essay, which can help lift your score if other parts aren't as strong (grammar, etc.), which is why I did do it in my own essay. But, I only advise it for students that have mastered writing a strong basic post. I hope that makes sense. 💪 Good luck with your studies!
hi, there First I want to thank you for what you are doing for us, I have one question about the timer reading section. * Is the timer start count-down from 36 to 0, or is it divided like for the first passage(18-0) and second passage(18-0). * You said that first read the title and the first sentence of each paragraph (36-35 for paragraph#1) & (18-17) for paragraph #2, Did the whole passage pop up on the screen at that time, or what do we have to do? (On some videos the question directly starts from paragraph one and question 1) i hope you will reply to me, thank you so much
Great question: the timer counts down from 36 to 0. That's why time management is so important. If you don't track your time, you can easily lose your time management and struggle towards the end.
It is better to include a very SHORT reference to a student, perhaps taking up 10 words of your total 150+ word essay. But, you can score perfect without referencing the student. By adding a reference to the student, you show your ability to reference information, which will help if other parts of your essay aren't as strong. Hope that makes sense.
Hi Joseph: one question on the listening timing: Since questions per recording can vary between 5-6 questions, is it correct that the conversations always have 5 questions and the lectures 6? It seems like that when I look at your timing in the video. Thank you so much in advance!
Sir, i scored fine in reading and speakinh but scored extremely low in listening and writing. Two years back i scored 28 in both but now its 21 in both. Got 26 in both readjng and speaking. I just dont know what went wrong. Can you pls help?
Hello. I still cannot understand the question types of reading section. Is it still asked "according to the paragraph 3" questions or asked "according to the paragraph" questions as a new format? I mean shall we search and find the paragraph trough the question? Because instead of reading all the text I was reading the paragraphs according to the question which already point the exact one.
Hey, I just passed my TOEFL exam a few minutes ago. I've watched a lot of videos from your chanel and they really helped a lot. I had an issue during the Listening part , I had the mic from the headset away from my face, alongside my head. Do you it got recorded or do I have to mentally prepare myself for the next try?
Yes, you can. 👍 Specifically, one easy way is when you finish answering all questions, you have a button on the top of the screen titled "review." Click on that button to see all questions. Then, you can click on any question you want to review.
Hi sir, please I have a question about the listening section; Did the pace of the talk become faster as much as I become not able to determine the idea or take notes? please help me in that cause I heard about this note alot
Hello guys. I would like to ask a question. I just got my TOEFL IBT score of 77 but my university program requires for a 80. I have already paid the tuiton fee completed my enrollment but I did get trough from harsh time. Which shouldnt be considered as a excuse. My deadline day is coming in about 20 days, is there any chance there that I could get in. I have already past math exam ext. Thank you sincerely..
I understand the challenges you’re facing. I want to help. Are you asking for enrollment in the golf course since it’s now full? Make sure that you were at least studying our diamond course for help with this. That way you can study at your own speed and perhaps more intensely. www.notefull.com/product/diamond-course-for-all-toefl-sections/
Can you plz talk about how the new reading section is graded? There are 20 questions for 30 marks. All I want to know is that if I answer one question incorrectly, how much does it cost me? 1.5 marks? or what?
I am having trouble collecting my thoughts during the Speaking test. I start messing up words and repeating the same thing, and freak out even more, do you have any tips to manage that?
The easiest is: think first and speak second. This happens when we start speaking before we know what we’re going to say. Don’t let the timer rush you. Better to see if you were words better than more words with more frequent errors. You can do it!
Thank you so much for the super helpful tips! Also, I would like to ask is there a change on the scoring for each part? Like for the reading, does 2 passages meant that the score range is now 0-20?
Hi, from what I know the score range will remain 0-30. They will most likely supplement the section with questions that are worth more than one point. Because the new TOEFL has 2 passages, there will be 20 questions.
Happy to this helped you! And, no: there is no change to the total scores: the perfect score for each section is still 30 and therefore the highest score on the TOEFL is still 120. Hope that makes sense.
@@NoteFullTOEFLMastery thank you so much for that speedy response! It's now quite confusing to obtain atleast higher than 20 points. I noticed that my reading score changed drastically from the old version to the new one. The last time I took it, I got 25/30 and when I took it again on the 4th, I only got 16. I guess it's harder now to get more than 20 points
Hello! The unofficial scores of listening and reading can change when they gave the official one? Got 21 in listening and needed 22. Would be great if it change to 22 when they give me my total score 🤣
Hi Joseph! Is it true they have changed the writing section. Now they have launched an academic writing. Is it similar to IELTS's writing format - charts, graphs and etc?
It is true. Make sure to watch this video to the end for a complete description of the change 👍 Also, it’s not quite like what you find on the IELTS, so do make sure to watch.
Hi teacher. Thanks for this video. I am taking TOEFL in a week and I have heard that reading section is now much harder in the new version, is that true?
You are not allowed to have any of that during the test. You can take it to the test center, but you'll have to put it away--for example, in a locker. Even watches are generally not allowed because of the attempt to limit any cheating or use of recording devices during testing.
Hello sir,am actually finding it difficult to handle reading and listening in the TOEFL exams. Whta I s the best strategy that i can use to pass the two skills? Thanks in advance..
To improve, the best strategy is to study hundreds of hours. 😬 I speak this with sincere seriousness to achieve your dream. This way you can improve enough to defeat, your TOEFL, if you need big jumps in your score. To help organize these studies, we created a new class. Please watch it here. I’m confident it will really help you to organize your studies for the reading and listening. 🙏 ru-vid.comP8aTy0StxKQ?feature=share
What is the best strategy to tackle the Toefl reading? Is it reading the passage first and answering questions or just skimming and scan through to answer the questions
The best strategy we find is: Invest your first minute reading the title and first sentences of each paragraph. That connects you with the content of the reading. Then invest 8 min and 30 sec answering the first 5 questions and then another 8 min 30 answering the final 5 questions. Read the question first… then the reading for the answer. That totals 18 min for each reading. Make sure to review the first part of this video where we explain this in more detail. 👍
Unfortunately, no. ☹️ But, I can tell you that it was exactly what you would expect. A question on a familiar every day topic. I promise you that you don’t need to know these questions in order to do well on them. It’s all about expressing yourself through an academic pattern to support your opinion, which works for any question on any topic. I hope that makes sense. 🙏
That's a great question and concern. If it's all that you're thinking about, it means you haven't memorized it. You don't want to "try" to remember it. Memorize it. The value will be amazing when you take your exam. Invest about 1 to 2 hours memorizing the timing from our PDF and then it will be something that instantly comes to you without thinking. Don't let it stress you. Allow time management to guide you. It's ESSENTIAL for success in our experience. Here's the link to get the PDF if you don't have it already: www.notefull.com/getting-started/
I completely agree with the comment. Time management makes sense in Speaking and Writing; for Listening and Reading, invest time in improving your English by doing as many practice tasks as possible and then let common sense guide you. Thinking about time laps would overload your already stressed cognitive capacity.
Essentially yes. Ibt just means: Internet based TOEFL/test. But no matter what version you take it’s the same unless it’s called the TOEFL Essentials. Confusing to have so many names, but I hope that helps.
I agree. I think that they will make it so that you can request a bathroom break at any time under a smoother process. The key will be your calls and emails to complain about this as you take the exam. Then, they will change for sure.
Hi, sir On the writing section ( integrated one) Can we access the article while we are writing the idea of the article and the lecture. Please reply to this question.
