Today is our first-ever day in Mumbai, India! We arrived here late last night after our Vande Bharat Luxury Train from Goa all the way to Mumbai. We explore the beautiful city of Mumbai and visit our first-ever Anna Idly and much more. We absolutely love Mumbai, the food, and the people. We can't wait to explore more of Mumbai :)

The alternate white and red bands are...Lime (calcium hydroxide) is alkaline, n geru (red ochre powder or sinopia) is acidic in nature and rich in iron oxide. This combination helps to protect trees from fungal diseases and potential pest attacks

Thums Up is the India's largest selling Cola based carbonated soft drinks. The Brand Thums Up was launched in 1976 and soon after became the Market leader. Its a true all round Indian brand of Colas that competes with Pepsi and Coke for the market shares. In 1996 it was bought over the Coca Cola company and Thums Up since then belongs to Coke.

Nice vlog - stumbled onto your channel all the way from Seattle. India is one of my favorite countries. Love Mumbai. Fun fact. Mr Tata one of the founders of the Tata conglomerate was refused entry into a hotel that catered solely to Europeans. He then built the Taj Mahal hotel as a landmark hotel that would be open to everyone. Soon after it opened it quickly become the premier hotel in Bombay as it was then known.

Radhanagar Beach is especially famous and is considered one of the top ten beaches in Asia. In the trees all over India, the red and white paint is meant to symbolize purity and divinity, and is believed to help protect the tree from harm. Additionally, painting the trees can also serve as a way to mark them and prevent them from being cut down or damaged. Also in India most of the trees exceed the limits of the pavement and the barks and roots sometimes protrude into the roads.. since white is better seen at night's white is used... and red and black are easier visualized in the day.

The paint on the tree base are to safeguard against fungal diseases and potential pest attacks. Also those are not any normal paints. It is actually thin coat of white lime (calcium hydroxide) and red geru (sinopia or red ochre powder)

Amazing video, I was in Mumbai a couple of weeks back and took a photo of the orange windows where you bought the coconut. Such a great place, it's so funny how the locals say lovely jubbly, I had to try and explain to someone what it means, and another said "sounds like a pound" haha. Have a great time guys.

Thums Up was started by Parle Group in 1977 when Coca Cola had left India. It’s a more fizzier drink as compared to Coke. When Coca Cola re-entered Indian Markets, Thums Up was the most famous amongst Indians. Hence Coca Cola Company bought the brand in 1994 to maximize profits & kill competition.

Trees are painted with red and white colour to protect the main bark of the tree from insects that can slowly eat them and harm them. This helps to increase the life of the tree and also signifies that this tree is recorded in government records and cutting it down without required permission can land a person in some legal problems.

To indicate they are under protection cover. The trees cannot be harvested nor can be chopped off. They are under the protection of forestry department. They are painted red and white so that, these trees can be easily seen in the darkness of the night.

The Orange and White are used to tell people that they are all public property and basic material available in the form of natural colours. They are not expensive either and can be painted regularly. The painted tree is a Peepal tree, and people honor it by lighting a candle on a Saturday as it is said Lord Vishnu blessed this species of tree, it is done for general welfare in life. Its is painted in reverence.

thums up ! in 1977, coca cola was asked to form a company in india with not more than 40 % foreign ownership - they refused and were asked to pack up and leave ! campa cola, 77, thums up came up as an indian alternatives and were a huge success coca cola ultimately did what was asked and they started making/bottling and selling again in 1993
