For clarification on the 'dumb things' I mostly meant doing things more sloppy and caring less after it went unpatched for quite a while. Not involved with ely, or purposely manipulating the market. Waste of time to me. Rares were bought for muling purposes mostly, price rises were just a side effect.
so you buy phats that go into banned accounts inflating them even further. Its kind of a piss take really, that you're ruining the market for legit players. why not just stack the money or buy things that don't ruin the rare economy. You find RS boring and find the bug side fun and shit, i get it, each to their own and all that. But why should your fun come at the cost of everyone elses? I don't wanna spend 4k hours doing pvm to be able to afford a stupidly inflated rare at the hands of your team.
I think the bigger problem is the bond prices.... Who carse if the 20b item goes to 28b. No one needs to buy them, and the people that do like when they go up.
The whole G.E. Tax thing was never meant to fix the economy. Much like the Pride events, Jagex's financers from World Economic Forum forced them to add the Tax to condition players for their real-life political goals. Get ready for outrageous Capital Gains Taxes
I dont understand how Jagex does not have the means to track how much gold is appearing in the economy and how. A player suddenly gets an obscene amount of gp in a short period of time and ZERO flags go up internally?
They do and can but they have corrupt people working inside. What better way to increase your pay cheque than to sell gold on the side that you can create out of nothing.
I definitly noticed the hat prices have increased dramaticly. White used to be like 60b now seems to be more like 90b again for seemingly no reason at all because they were stable for an antire year after the max cash update hit.

It's a 20+ year old game with game code thought of by 3 kid-nerds while newer players demand rehauls of everything. Bugs will happen. After all, it's a game, an old game with so far the most stable economy considering it's duration. Jagex is doing far better work than many gvts. out there :D I get it sucks. but bro, it's a game...

Ooooof. How in the world did this go unnoticed for 2 months? I'd think there would be some sort of internal system at Jagex which would flag such suspicious behaviour (especially after the 2 week mark....)
The youtubers reporting on this bug have way too much faith in Jagex honestly. First people were saying the dupe was fake, now people are saying "Oh I'm sure Jagex banned everyone who abused it." I duped 1000 economies worth of items on New World just to see if Amazon would actually take action against it to fix the game. Despite claims from the devs saying they track everything and have cleaned up the issue, I didn't get banned until months after and that was only because I created a ticket telling them what I had and criticized them for not removing it. Needless to say, it's no surprise that game died. Jagex needs the criticism from all content creators on this one to not repeat that mistake. It is unacceptable that this was not automatically caught day one just by having metrics for gold generation. The fact that it wasn't automatic proves that they have zero tracking for this kind of thing.

@@iswearnotme sometimes it’s because the cursor takes the same pixel path random or as a straight line, it loops, or identically matches other players. There are several ways to avoid the detection, but I’d advise against using them.
@@iswearnotme Probably its not well made, I have a 5.8b account which was 90% made with autohotkey. Like 2 or 3 years macroing 10-12 hours a day, haven't even got a single temp.
For those who dont know, there is actually a couple of chats out there that exist solely for bug hunting, been in one for a very long time, even found a couple that are still closely guarded to this day. Shouldnt be shocked some people like to tear things apart looking for riches be for fun, entertainment or wealth.

its nice to see more insight on it. however if want he said was true about some mules being not banned that is a huge L for jagex. especially given the spoke of the issue as well as the scale. this is not a bot army with 1000 accounts that are getting lost in the sauce with legit players. this is a very small group of players doing a very specific thing and trading huge amounts of money back and forth. if you can't ban all of them then wtf.

Bonds have been 90-110m for over a year, and the price spike a few months ago was because bonds increased 1/3 the cost to buy with irl cash. seeing as bonds are literally just legal game to irl cash exchange, the more one costs in irl cash the more it will cost in game.

You have no idee. I found a vid of a guy who was scripting bots for rs3 as a school project a long time ago. He showed me some very intersting discords. Like its a pritty big communety... Dont underestemate them. Want an untetectible bot to play rs3 for you? Just pay a few dollars for a script and you be 99 fishing in no time. Want to abuse a mony glitch. Be prepaired to pay a lot to get acces to this. If you want cheating with inside jobs then you have to look at OSRS with ROTS and devs teaming up to cheat the game. And not eve punishing them for doing so when the communetie speks up about it.
It's not exactly that specific A massive update to the gold pouch comes out, guys who are known to hunt for bugs see that and want to try find potential bugs Log onto one account they have and trade and bug has been found
I agree about the bug bounty, I remember when i told jagex about a bug and everyone just laughed at me. Even alot of the active less game breaking bugs that are still being used everyday in pvm that just seem to float around like the unlimited SGB spec one and the infinite healing mechanic. the result of true spaghetti code and lack of development standards at its best if unit testing didn't catch this, the entire transaction itself should've failed when either side ends up in an unexpected way, neither of which happened for this dupe to take place, fairly laughable

Crazy stuff. Although not surprised at all that these things get found. The game is huge, and the economy us a bug part of mmorpgs, so alot of satisfaction comes from making alot of money on runescape.
i dont agree to duping, however, one comment i do need to state, i have 46 partyhat sets on osrs, because i kept them, on release when they were mad low prices. all legit gained, and sat on all this time.

Anything you do comes at a cost , big or small. They can track all the in game gp. Id bet good money all his accs got banned like his main he was clearly fealing some type of way about at the end of the vid. Dont cheat and you wont get banned. Just play legit

Coin pouch has been behind so many coin dupes... This is the easiest form of it i have seen though.. Last time it was the max cash dupe involving the duel arena back in the day.
@Zeb if you did not buy anything in bulk via G.E. and to my understanding only RWTed some of the gold.. That gold wasn't traced back and banned/cleaned then? Any rough numbers as to what was sold? I'd guess like at least 10T?
Also, was this the same shit responsible for earlier this year (I think or was it last year) when there was a rumor spreading of item dupe glitch because of the sudden inflation?

There have been absurd figures of people taking the 6t/hr number at face value and doing some absurd maths saying they've made around $200m USD from this. Obviously it's nowhere near this, if they botted this and/or did it extensively every day for months, they would've been caught a lot sooner. It's likely a scare tactic to make people think the inflation is higher than it actually is, potentially increasing the value of rare items
@@im_imo It clearly says in my videos description very clear: "6 trillion per hour is the absolute theoretical max profit per hour on 1 account. Not an accurate reflection of what we did. We opted to do it all by hand and not tick perfectly (using a bot) to circumvent a macro ban flagging the bug."
@@im_imo Also I will add, if somebody even sold like 5% of that USD price of gold bonds would be like 2b+ and GP would be worthless. There is not that many players buying gold on this very dead game. Even 5% of that figure you provided (5% of 200m being 10m) would be 2571 partyhat sets sold for real life money, assuming the GP rate stayed the same. Which it most definitely would not. The game has like what, 18k concurrent players? I'm not sure in what world somebody even thinks 2571 of those 18k players are buying a partyhat set. Even selling 1 partyhat set for $ isn't that easy to find a buyer.
@@Zeb yeah, and people with common sense would either read it or realise that for themselves. but as we've clearly seen, a lot of people in the community including content creators or figureheads who you'd expect to do their due diligence just haven't done that and have taken the title at face value and not mentioned what you've put in the description at all, essentially spreading misinformation and wildly inaccurate speculations. it's obviously not your fault that people are lazy and/or stupid, but I think you knew this would happen, especially since this has happened so many times in the past when your dupes have been exposed/leaked. exaggerated number in title means more attention and more panic.
If that was me i would have brought so many golden party hats and created a new account to buy legit when the dupe account got banned gph would be worth alot
@@jensv874 sure, and even if you only do it every 10 ticks, just use 10 bots. When you're making trillions of gold per hour, buying bonds for alts is nothing. Not to mention with the black market value there, they can just buy hacked accounts to do it so they don't get caught by new account detection
About a month ago, someone showed me 1gp in the trade box, and at the bottom it showed that it was worth like 1 billion or something like that, and he told me he was auctioning the special 1 gp. I was flabbergasted and didn't know how he did it so I just tried to ask him, but I didn't end up reporting him. If I could go back I would report him because there definetly was some sort of bug abuse going on.
That is unrelated to this bug. It was caused by jagex doing a lost item reclaim for someone where they had 1b+, and jagex refunded the 1b as the coin worth 1b which is what allows money pouch to go over the 2147m cap.
You deserve to be banned for false reporting. Do 5 seconds of research on something if you don’t know what it is before you send out malicious false reports.

That's why i've quitted rs3 too. It wasn't fun anymore spending legit hours on hours for some Bank just to hear "They duped party hats over the full weekend". Yeah... Now i play osrs since 4 years and damn, it's good. Such a QoL. With Runelite and HD... OSRS > RS3.
