During my divorce, I lived in my 1970 Holiday Rambler full time. 3 years ago, or was $275/ month for full hookups. It was an old mobile home park. As mobile homes became un repairable, they'd make the spots into spots for campers/RV'S. For the most part, the campers were contractors and military personal. I loved hearing the base play Tapps every night. BTW my wonderful new GF and I now own 3 vintage trailers, 1 '66 Shasta that we turned into a coffee and milkshake trailer. The Rambler is stored in Asheville NC I'll have a video up next Friday about the KOA East Ashville. It's probably our favorite non state park.

I truly consider the Harverst Host to be the worst subscription an Rver can buy, almost a scam... You pay a fee, not cheap, to have an opportunity to expend money at a place while you park there... The plan with the golf courses option will be even more expensive as the round will cost at leat $25 per person You need to get at the places early and leave next day early, most of the places we stayed we ended up spending more than we would spend at a campground with full hookups.

Do you realize the amount of money spent on storage unit would buy a nice mini barn in 3-5 years? Consider having one of your kids keep the mini barn on their property and keep the mini barn when you are able to part with the extra stuff. Win-win for you and them.

The Samsung Galaxy A11 is an awesome basic phone for a low cost. It's offered by multiple providers. I have AT&T and was able to replace my old phone, which was long overdue, for about $180 plus tax and fees. Out the door was less than $200 and I was not required to change or renew my contract with AT&T.

I appreciate all the expense breakdown, but what I didn't see is the overall savings on camping fees by having all those memberships. Was there an overall savings? For instance, one of those memberships was $995 per year and if you could save $20 per night as an example it would take over 50 nights to re-coop your upfront money per year!
@Milesco
@Milesco 3 года назад
I believe that $995 fee for the "Coast to Coast" system is a one-time fee, with an annual fee of $170, if my memory serves.
@marktedder1
@marktedder1 3 года назад
so really...even though your annual costs were around $8.5K, thats because you have discounts with thousand trails, thousand trails coast to coast, Coast to coast, etc. Plus additional annual fees. So that would actually make your nightly costs higher if i'm correct?

FMCA TechConnect benefit has Sprint unlimited internet for $50 a month. I've used it coast to coast with very few places having no service. I also have the Verizon unlimited (throttled at 25gb though) for $50/mo for those places no access with sprint. Plus if I am not in a place where I need my own internet I can put them on vacation and only pay about $10/mo.

Starlink should be the best internet option for most areas and especially in areas unserved by cellular. By the middle of next year it should be a viable option for most of the US and Canada, with faster speeds and lower latency than cellular, especially if the current pricing stays permanent at $100/month for unlimited data.
@EnjoyTheJourneyLife
@EnjoyTheJourneyLife 3 года назад
Thanks Angry Medic! Yes, we are keeping an eye on Starlink for sure!
@brucefay5126
@brucefay5126 3 года назад
Starlink will require an absolutely clear view of a LOT of the sky, so no camping in the woods. To-date they have not announced a mobile option. Chris & Cherie at the Mobile Internet Resource Center are tracking this very closely.
@The_Angry_Medic
@The_Angry_Medic 3 года назад
@@brucefay5126 I agree right now, but with more satellites up and a more complete constellation, the amount of sky required will drastically decrease, and at least offers a solution when cellular data is non-existent. At least we know weather, cloud cover, and even heavy snow does not cripple the system beyond a usable capacity. There are less than 10% of the planned operational satellites currently in orbit, barring any significant setbacks for the apocalypse before New Year's Eve, there should be vast and significant improvements in the system and service.
@brucefay5126
@brucefay5126 3 года назад
@Angry Medic Good point. As you know (but others might not) the satellites are Low Earth Orbit (LEO) and not geo-stationary (like TV sats), so they will move in/out of view quickly. From what I have read, I suspect having a clear view of some portion of the sky will always be an issue for Starlink. As for RVers, Starlink has not yet made any real commitment to providing an option for mobile use. The beta-testing units are currently locked to a very small physical location/address.

It would be interesting to see how much of the expenses you pay are deductible from your income taxes because you're content providers for social media. Is your fuel and maintenance expenses deductible from income taxes? Is the cost of the vehicle loans deductible? Are your membership fees and campground fees deductible from income taxes? Can you deduct the cost of meals from restaurants or the cost of meals eaten in your RV from your taxes? Can you deduct costs for space in your RV as a home office? What about the costs for buying devices such as a computer, cell phone, etc. How much content for social media do you have to provide before the IRS allows deductions for fuel, vehicle maintenance, campground, membership fees, etc?

Oh, and now it seems that some golf courses are requiring a purchase of a round of golf! Didn't that go against Harvest Hosts own marketing in the beginning? As well as many, many vloggers promoting Harvest Hosts, stating you don't need to purchase a round of golf, just hit the restaurant/pro shop.
@Milesco
@Milesco 3 года назад
@@davepellegrino2033 : I dunno about the golf thing, but yeah, I figure if you spend one night at a winery and buy a single bottle of wine for, say, $20, that's essentially 20 bucks a night (equivalent to $600 per month) for dry camping with no hookups. So not really the great deal that all the RU-vidrs say it is.

We’re working age so had to figure out insurance too. Besides ACA there are a couple options but may not cover everything you need.

Sorry if you touched on this, but did you include the initial campground membership fees in your total, or just the annual maintenance dues and nightly costs? I’m trying to figure out if the costs will then be much lower next year, because you incurred the membership purchase this year. Thanks and great videos...K
@Milesco
@Milesco 3 года назад
From what Tom has said here in the comments in response to questions like yours (several others have had the same question), my understanding is that the membership fees are not included and are _in addition_ to the regular nightly camping costs.

@@Dandylionbee A very recent, very well designed study by Denmark concluded that masks provide no protection for anyone. Even our own US Marine Corp has concluded the same. Believe it or not, there's more than one position on this subject.

@@Dandylionbee wearing a mask reduces (it does not prevent) the amount of spray coming from your mouth and nose. It's better to keep 6 ft away. No mask rule.

@@Dandylionbee Not sure who you are addressing but thank you. I only wear a mask if entering a store or business where it is required. I do not give a place grief for having a mask rule. I don't mind wearing it. However, I do not wear a mask while outdoors or when driving! I'm also never in a crowd. 🙂👍
