It is like a cultural muhalla of Pakistan. People from all walks of life share the same feelings, love, loss, and waiting for someone, somewhere and hope for union. These feelings are above, nationality, ethnicity, or gender bias. Everyone desires companionship and love. Ali Sethi was the right choice for this song Shae Gul, an amzing addition to the international Coke Studio family. 💚🤍

A Pakistani and a native Urdu speaker here. There are some things worth mentioning about the song. - The song is in two languages: Punjabi (a largely spoken regional language) and Urdu (national language of Pakistan). - The song is about heartbreak. English translation interprets it as a stereotypical heartbreak between two lovers but it's so, so much more. Notice how the male singer sings the lyrics with he/him pronouns. In Urdu poetry, these pronouns are used as abstract. This gives so much meaning and perspectives to the song. The heart break could be due to a loved one, a friend, a long awaited opportunity, social pressure, stress and depression, loneliness, family, anything. - Then when the Urdu part comes, both singers are singing in a yearning tone. The lyrics like "All I need your love" (similar to that) also implies that they are referring to God that all they need is God to overcome worldly heart breaks. - Urdu is a very philosophical language. That's why philosophy is the core of Urdu poetry. Another important detail is that the song starts and ends with the old lady. It's because old people know the true meaning a heartbreak and pasoori (haste, frustration). :)
Ali Sethi is one of the finest singers....And Shae Gill sung brilliantly....her voice is unique totally unique.... masterpiece....Love from India 🇮🇳🙏❤️👍🤗
Sari is also worn in Pakistan. Its the cultural dress of some communities in Sindh. And many old grannies also normally wear saris. Sari was commonly worn in Pakistan 30-40 years ago but the fashion died in 80s coz of dictator Zia. I hope sari comes back in street fashion. Also sari has nothing to do with religion, its a cultural dress. Some of the most famous Pakistani women who took part in Pakistan movement and later also wore Saris. And you're right, Sheema Kirmani is a professional Kathak dancer.
@@AsimS92 Its getting less common, especially amongst the young. Sarees even in India may be common but increasingly women are looking at alternatives and the primary driving factor is Sarees can be a hassle. Wearing it takes longer, cleaning it takes longer, as a male, I can only imagine but attending the call of nature could become an obstacle course.
Its not our culture. Sareh generally represent Hindu culture. Its inappropriate dressing and should be discouraged. Make your mother and sister dress in that, and make sure not to cover the back and belly as most of Hindu dress Sari. Suits people like you right.
@@servantofallah9425 SMH. 1st of all why are you commenting on a reaction to a music vid? 2ndly women don't need men to tell them how to dress, they have the intellect to do it themselves. People like you are the reasons why some Hindus hate Muslims. Your condescending tone to another culture, its best your kind sticks to caves and camels

Muslims who migrated to pakistan from india still wear sari especially the old grandmothers. Its a cultural dress for some communities such as some urduspeaking migrants. Also this aunty is doing orissi and is a renowned dancer who also owns a dance academy. The video is giving ode to the indigenous cultire of pakistan and the culture of migrant pakistanis too.
It has nothing to do with migration. My grandmother was azad kashmiri and she wore Saris. Majority Pakistani women wore sarees until early 80s. Now the saree trend is coming back.
love her saree, in india different parts of have different kinds of sarees but in punjab people normally wear suits and kurtas or salwars. so i am not surprised that a lot of people in pakistan do not wear sarees.
@@suhridguha2560 different ehtnicities have their own culture and dresses. Most dont wear shalwar kameez either in pakistan even though it is a national dress. Dressing is very varied in pakistan.

The building with architectural arcs , long veranda and lights depicts the dancers waiting for the buyers, lovers and (tamashbeen ) spectators . The lyrics represent the action and gestures of each dancers individually and collectively arranged with beautifully crafted moves.

The origins of the sari originated from the Indus Valley Civilisation which in turn is the home of culture and civilisation in South Asia. As such, the sari has always existed in what is now Pakistan. Later invasions of the land brought variations in dress but the sari is still our historical dress! Pakistan is the land of the Indus after all! :-)
@@harshitrijhwani5920 it’s hard to say whether that is true or not. Early Mongol invasions of the region which sought to destroy are one thing but Achaemenid expansion into the Indus Valley or Moghul expansion across North India can hardly be deemed to be destroying the culture of the region? Culture evolves and grows and all those additions through time become part of its heritage.

She is master of kathak dance in pakistan.love the song and voice of shae gill.her voice is so strong.lyrics, composition everything is best.Ali sethi is always mind-blowing.
Blasting! There's no low to this weed of a song! Sheema Kirmani ji hasalways donned Saari with immense pride. Sheema ji is Pakistan's maestro Bharatnatyum dancer and her beautiful moves makes this a timeless song! Punjabi song doesn't necessarily mean a desi item song. Pakistan is a country of multiethnic land. Our Punjab is very fast-forward and colourful. Shea Gill is big time love, she's just brilliant withher calming high notes and becomes a powerhouse when her vocals infuses with Ali Sethi. Their octave notes, the situation, iktara, thedrumbeats and the overall rhythm are tremendously addictive! The song depicts hopeful and happy lovers. What a masterpiece by Coke Studio Pakistan!

Saari wali lady famous Pakistani classical dancer sheema kermani hai. Yahan wo Indian culture ko represent nhi kr rahi balke wo usually sarri he wear karti hain.. Aur ye producers, tv and theatre actress, choreographer bhe hain..
Through these reactions, you are interacting with your audience. You are the best reactoin-er from India. There are so many, but they can't interact with their audience, the way you are doing it successfully. I'm noticing you from years. In my sight your the best in this field. Your channel is the fastest growing channel. You came up very late and now near to million subscribers.
Yes you are right sir. Ali Sethi is the most melodious singer of Pakistan and he is always lyrically this much strong as you are seeing him here in Coke Studio. Anyways nice Reaction.

Sari is worn lovingly in Pakistan on formal occasions. It has nothing to do with religion. A graceful and timeless attire of the sub-continent. Sheema Kirmani is a great Kathak dancer here, much respected and revered!
Saarhi is not exclusively Hindu or Indian , however the trend for Saarhis in Pakistan has diminished in recent times as peoples preferences have changed…
