The release clause was met by spurs Gray had the release clause put in, Leeds United had no option but to sell him and Archie had to agree to the deal.

That is sadly life in football, we all have our favorite players and stars, and eventually they move on, whether we like it or not, or whether we expected it or not. We'd all like the bromance of Archie being a one club man for his entire career, for the Gray dynasty to continue, but promotion has cost us that bromance. We all knew the sharks would be circling the moment we didnt go up, only PL football would allow us to keep these sharks away. Its a rarity in this modern age, that a player remains a one man club and extremely rare that they also have remarkable talent as Archie has shown us. If we are getting Rodon as BBC Sport reports, may soften the blow, but I imagine that most will jump on the Harry bandwagon now. As you say, Farke might be out in 6 months, and the next manager wants to know why we got rid of this or that player, with Cresswell. We have to look forward and hope we're successful this coming season, so we can keep the sharks at bay. We have to dust ourselves down, bring in unknown talent from the continent, and smash this league points record, and then stay up.

I disagree Conor, we would still be talking about selling Gray if we had gone up, because we were not good enough to go up, wholesale changes would be needed, therefore cash needed and Gray is our cash cow.

We didn’t need to act before the deadline as we were PSR compliant as per many reports. Brentford met Archie’s release clause which meant the sale started to go through. No distrust in the ownership. Got to evaluate when the window closes.

I don't believe the 49ers are purposely hiding transfer information from fans. They've done all their business quietly (which we applaude on incoming deals that we like) and don't want other clubs having any hints and gaining advantage in transactions including any amounts needed for P & S. Selling our youth products, especially a Gray is always painful.

I think Conor hit the nail on the head, and Archie has gone because no offers came for the others. I would also like to think now with Archie gone we keep the others Summerville etc, apart from the likes of Wober, Firpo (because he out of contract in 12 months) etc. Also I think even though we missed the deadline for PSR because they filed the paperwork last night, they are then given long to sort the deal.

Every player has a valuation. If offers meet that valuation, then those offers have to be considered. £40m will help fund a squad strengthening. Unfortunately we are in the championship and have to be realistic. Archie wont get us promoted, using the money to buy four or five top championship players might do.

49ers are in it till they meet valuation of 1Billion. IMO they wont sell before then. Archie Gray is talented player but he hasn't played on a level where the players are all equal in skill, pace etc. IMO i don't see him better than Tottenham, he doesn't have the pace to really stand out on top level - Im hoping otherwise for many years to come . Technical ability and skill it is class so it does warrant his fee.

Gray definitely not a right back. And he find it hard in the prem most young players have a drop off second season. Maybe part of the deal is for him to come back on lone for a season

I don’t like any of this and I don’t care about the fee, he’s a Leeds lad he’s been done dirty. I do think he’s a chance of playing at Spurs, Ange won’t mind playing him if he thinks he’s good enough. I know many have said it’s like throwing us a bone and a small time mentality but I wouldn’t think it would be a bad thing if he gets loaned back for the season.

looks like Gray might be a bit of a rat, put in a release clause in his new contract and is accepting offers from anybody, hope it is not true but if it is good riddance, his brother will be off as well i have no doubt in next 6 months
