Like everything else with the Abomination Corvette, the brake system had a nasty surprise for me when I went to bring it back up to spec. So it called for a total rebuild from the ground up. But, we did it on the cheap and it turned out even better than I dared hope! Check it out and let us know what you think!
Here are some links to products and tools I used in this build. Please note that I may receive a small percentage from any purchases made through these links. So thanks in advance for your support!

If only more people rebuilt parts of their vehicles. Often times the rebuilt part can be better than new. Repairs using stainless steel is a good way to give long life to parts.

For $85 per corner, I'm not sure I'd have rebuilt them myself... But it's good youtube content ;) love your work.

That powder was oxidized aluminum so new pistons are needed for the one caliper.

When I painted my calipers I used those foam noise cancelling ear plugs to protect the threads from paint

Smart. Had to be a lot quicker than squishing paper towel bits in there. Will try that next time!

Thank you 😊As a amateur I really enjoy your how to and how not to do videos 😀 They are a great help on my project,although my Vette is in a much better condition than the abomination Corvette 😁@@TheHorsepowerMonster

Just binge watched your Corvette series to this point. (should have called it "Rusty" lol). Very nice series so far, I REALLY hope you continue it to the end. I've seen a number of car projects that appear to have been abandoned. :( Two questions so far: First - Why did you not add gussets to the frame during the weld up portion? There are some great resources that show you how to cut them out, and where they go, or you can purchase them ready cut. It goes a long way to stiffen up the chassis for a road/track car. Second - I'm assuming you purchased a gas tank that is baffled and ready to accept an in-tank pump? Or are you planning on an inline fuel pump? Anyhow, GREAT series so far. Someday I'll be inheriting a running (but rough) 1977 vette. Numbers are non-matching already, and it was a California emissions car. One of the least desirable years and least desirable models to collectors. Anyhow, I'm planning a teardown to the birdcage (car spent a couple decades on the Texas gulf coast) and full rebuild. I'm thinking of a modernized big block for power and L-88 fender flares for a better footprint. Again, thanks for the video series, it IS inspirational!!!

Another awesome video. Think you would ever do a HP dyno video on a straight eight or air cooled vw engine?

I prefer nickel-copper alloy tubing but I did buy a rusty truck that had the rear line replaced with nickel-copper and was leaking again. It had a rusty tube nut

Couple tips first u should rock the easy out back and forth and next time put the heat in the caliper around the bleeder screw not the screw itself
@douchedidit9222
@douchedidit9222 2 месяца назад
Put grease on the drill bit and drill slow and it will catch the metal

I'm not completely sure, but that replacement caliper you got probably has the original style lipseals in it. Those things are dangerous and bound to fail at any moment. Double check your purchase details and if it has lipseals put o rings in it too.

Did u ever consider silicon brake fluid . Still needs flushing every 2yrs but perfect for a car that sits alot .

Calipers are easy enough to get it just makes more sense to buy them from the auto parts store or at least get Lonestar caliper

Cleans up and paints the calipers but doesn't clean up and paint the ugly bolts. 😢
