It's okay to scrutinize the stats he accumulated especially the numbers after his 2nd stint in Cleveland. After he joined Miami, the competitiveness and balance in the game slowly shifted, enough to discredit half of his statistics.
@bobkeps2095
@bobkeps2095 3 месяца назад
Even in Miami he still had to beat teams better than his own. 2013 spurs had 4 hall of famers (2 of which were top 7 of mvp voting that same yr) and with great role players as well. Mj never beat any teams like that. Mj played in expansion era were his team was heavily unbalanced. I dont see anyone making same argument. In 96-98 Bulls had 4 hofers plus great role players, going against teams with only 1 hofer and similar role players, or 2 hofers and less skilled role players.

it's not the flop that makes him pale in comparison. Lebron needs to understand he needs to do what he has done in Cleveland in 3 straight years twice to meet MJ's level.

The flopping is pretty bad. But as far as the argument about rings, people are getting tired of that fallacy. Any intellectually honest person knows you can't determine an individual title based on team accomplishments like that.

@giladpachter4546 3 месяца назад
This reminds me of reasons that Fed fans give for why Djokovic shouldn't be considered the GOAT of Tennis. Sure, MJ has 2 more rings and a better percentage in finals, but . . . 1. LBJ's team minus LBJ was never as strong as MJ's team minus MJ between 91 and 98. Not even close. 2. LBJ practically carried 3 franchises to championship on his back. 3. There's no shame in losing to 2014 Spurs, 2017&2018 Golden State or 2023 Nuggets. Those monster teams where/are obstacles that even the 90's Bulls would not surmount. 4. The number of personal significant records that LBJ has over any other player - including MJ - is overwhelming. Agin - not even close.

Only thing I disagree with is the second point. Carried the cavs sure. That lakers ring he had help from AD who led the playoffs in points and win shares, and the heat had a big three and good role players.
@giladpachter4546
@giladpachter4546 3 месяца назад
@@aogly I get why you'd say that, but notice that other than blocks, he almost matched both of them combined on the other 4 metrices, had overall better percentages and he had a favorable ratio when factoring TOs and PFs. Also, remember that LBJ is the only player that there's a concensus that he makes every player around him better (well, except for Westbrick). Finally, othere than Irving, Love and Wade, other players that had departed from James didn't exactly have a stellar remainder of their career.

2. lbj went with bosh to team up with wade. he did not carry the heat, they were the heavy favorites all 4 years. he went back to the cavs with kevin love to join kyrie... also the season he joined lakers...they only improved 2 games from the previous season.. the next season they got AD and won. To credit everything to Lebron is disingenuous.

LeBron has the best individual stats of all time, but the flopping is egregious. It's comically bad.
@Fernando-vg4ym
@Fernando-vg4ym 3 месяца назад
Problem is, they are longevity stats. Longevity stats don't mean anything. For instance, he has most points all time. What's more important, points over a career or, points per game? If you're going to mention all of his good longevity stats, you also have to include his bad ones. Such as turnovers. But in this case, you have to mention his assist to turnover ratios, which is one of the worst in NBA history. Fact is, over his entire career, he has only led in two stats over an entire season. Points and assists. So, as the saying goes, he is a "jack of all trades but a master of none".
@lightbeforethetunnel
@lightbeforethetunnel 3 месяца назад
@Fernando-vg4ym It's not only longevity stats that LeBron has. Advanced statistics for overall value over average replacement player show he's #1 all-time. A major thing people overlook is his assists per game. He's #1 all-time for his position, by almost double the runner up, in his stat. That's insane. And assists are a very valuable stat in a team sport like basketball. Combine this with the fact he's elite it pretty much everything else, too, and you end up with LeBron having the #1 highest stat for overall value of all time. He's even higher than Michael Jordan, but only slightly, during both of their primes. This is not a longevity stat, btw. It's the overall value he brings as an individual player, making it more likely his team will win, by taking all forms of contribution into account and weighing them all appropriately. This is why he has the best individual stats of all time, not longevity. Even though he does have longevity, too.
@Fernando-vg4ym
@Fernando-vg4ym 3 месяца назад
@@lightbeforethetunnel VOP? Yes, correct. But, Ever so slightly over MJ. However, MJ has a better winning percent in both the regular season and (it's not even close) the playoffs. Assists for his position? Correct, but he also has the most turnovers in ALL of NBA history, for EVERY position. Highest stat for overall value of all time? Did you just make that up? Never heard of it. Again, MJ has the better record percentage wise in the regular season as well as the playoffs. Best individual stats of all time? Sorry, that's a no-go. MJ led the league 14 times in individual stats during his (slightly longer than) 13 year career. And MJ is not even the leader in that category. Again, as I've said before LeBron's done it twice (Yes, a whopping TWO times) The only thing LeBron leads overall is in total points. Rebounds? Not even close. Steals? Dream on (Even MJ who has played in almost 500 fewer games, is ahead of LeBron). Assists? Again, not even close. So, yes. LeBron is high on the list of those things I've mentioned but only because of Longevity. Besides, all of this discussion is moot because we were talking about stats. What you mentioned about VORP is ADVANCED METRICS, not STATS. And if you want to go there, MJ leads LeBron in almost all of those as well.
@lightbeforethetunnel
@lightbeforethetunnel 3 месяца назад
@Fernando-vg4ym I'm glad you're aware of VOP, and that LeBron is slightly ahead of MJ (with everyone else fighting for a distant 3rd). But after that, notice how you go to team accomplishments? While I understand the temptation to do this, it's a category error fallacy. Fallacies are invalid arguments. They're inadmissible on their face in intellectual forum. And it doesn't matter that a lot of people commit this fallacy, it's still invalid to evaluate an individual title based on team performance. I'm a bit confused after that because you accused me of making the stat up when you first agreed that LeBron is slightly higher than MJ.
@lightbeforethetunnel
@lightbeforethetunnel 3 месяца назад
@Fernando-vg4ym What I'm arguing is LeBron had better individual stats per season, not longevity, during both player's primes. And that LeBron has the best individual stats of any player in NBA history, when it comes to overall value. Many people who still argue for MJ are doing that based on various fallacies, such as team accomplishments, focusing too much on a single stat, such as scoring, while ignoring other stats, ignoring assists, and so on and so forth. It is actually fairly difficult to evaluate this correctly. It's not an easy matter. A person must really understand statistics and logic to answer this correctly.

Jordan and Kobe united basketball fans, families, friends, nation. Lebron divided fans by his consistent drama and flopping. He made the league so soft, and non-pro basketball players now were copying his flop techinique, even in streetball. And now lebron is in the verge of retiring, Adam Silver in his interview said he'll bring the defense back. 🥴 I just hope Anthony Edwards will be the next face of the league, next to MJ and Kobe.

@@crujones27 He’s broken countless records, he’s played at an MVP level for 21 seasons straight, plays in a much more skilled era, ect. The only point you guys have is “6 RiNgS” yeah LeBron would have 6 or more too against those teams Jordan played. Not to mention the years without Jordan the bulls were still a 50+ win team. Goes to show the impact he had on his team was smaller than it seems. Cavs were a 60+ win team with LeBron and when he left they were less than 30. Jordan was also helpless until Pippen and Phil Jackson. Before the DPOY argument is brought up LeBron was robbed a couple seasons.
