I dont understand why would we use Shodan....Its fun to see all those features but how does it help in a general problem solving...? Could you break into any system using this...it looks more like a community where systems have voluntarily agreed to become transparent...please correct me if I am wrong..

As the above people suggest, Ngrok, iptables, proxychains (technically, right?), and the Packet Squirrel from Hak5 (default creates a VPN on both sides, and simple dhcp/DNS server) will solve that way better than what you are referring to .... Which I'd imagine is your own router blocking you.
