Hello. Just want to ask about copyright in genre breakcore/mashcore, how this works. Many people who create music in this genre use other people's samples and sometimes in large quantities. Old Lapfox trax stuff (mostly under a pseudonym 'Renard'), Reizoko CJ, goге$hit̰ and others. Of course, no one is against various references in music and I understand, that mashcore is just such a genre but... repeat, sometimes there are many other people's samples, which already looks like plagiarism or just a 'lazy' music. I have nothing against the above persons and I even like them music. Even love breakcore/mashcore but these questions just don't give me peace of mind. When music can be called author's and when a remix? How bad is it to insert large chunks of other people's tracks into your music and sometimes do not specify where other people's samples were taken from? How 'lazy' music in this genre? Breakcore artists have a copyright issues? p.s. sorry for my broken english, it's not my native language
Breakcore is a punk genre were samples are often used without permission - I believe music shouldn't have limits and using other music to created your own unique sound is just as valid as playing a guitar The label I've not long signed with deals with sample clearing however, while I post stuff without sample permission the label will later clear everything, but in my own personal opinion using samples without permission is not inherently bad or lazy or anything, it's art and other music exists like v/vm who processes songs by aphex twin and john lennon with granular effects Bottom line is this is all underground shit by people with no power or influence who are just scraping by and were using songs someone's already made millions on so who the fuck cares
Real plagiarism would be me taking the songs and just releasing them without doing anything which is something I don't support, this is using and chopping up and adding to (with amens / kicks / bass / effects) and mashing together different songs and creating an experience you wouldn't get from hearing the originals
