There many pros and cons to the sun visor debate. However, from the impact protection point of view, it is safer to not have one, which is also why Arai also always avoid an internal sun visor. Undoubtedly, this saves the NXR some weight and it's not too big of an issue considering it can be fitted with a photochromic visor. Thanks for the comment! Besides the improved safety, what do you think of the NXR?
I disagree, having a built in sun visor makes it safer when you have unexpected blinding sun in your eyes or glare from the road's surface when your commuting. They made a big mistake not having one in this price range.
I’ve just discovered your great channel during my research and this particular video helped me decide to go for the NXR. I will revert here with my feedback. Cheers!
@@michalpach1179 best helmet I’ve had. Very comfortable; I feel it a bit more designed for sport than touring, but excellent quality of materials and execution. I didn’t have the chance to test it for more than 1 hour ride since it is still winter in Romania, but I expect nothing but the best from it. Cheers!
Just bought a NXR to replace my Neotec2. Sooo much better. Way, way better. so much lighter which means no more headaches or sore neck, (which the neotec2 did every time after about 3 hours). Less buffeting, more stable at speed. The Photo visor is great too, works a treat. Allows me to fit a Cardo Packtalk Slim, (way better than the integrated Sena unit). One of the best helmets I've had in a long time.
Great to hear you're enjoying the NXR! It's weight definitely does impress, not to mention the option to fit your choice of comms system. Thanks for the comment! Besides aerodynamics, how have you found the NXR out on the road?
@@Championhelmets although more expensive, I think the NXR. But nothing to the detriment of the RPHA 11, this is also a great looking helmet. A Quest looks imho to bulky.
the visor mechanism can break very easy, dropped mine form 30cm and the right side visor tension system broke and came apart. At least you can get spare visor mechanism for around 20 eu. Linning quality is only decent. Im going to try another brand next time.
I would say lining quality is top notch, but the type of it might not suit everyone. I personally prefer Shoei's kina fluffy lining than other brands' slick materials.
Thanks for for this helpful video! I’m looking for a new helmet and I want to choose between the shoei nxr and agv k5 s. Feautures like the sun visor isn‘t necessary for me. When I started to look for helmets I found the k5 s very attractive from the look, but I always thought shoei is better than agv, like the mercedes of the helmets :) But I also have to say that I have not so many experiences with helmets, I‘m a female rider who just started. Do you have any recommendations shoei nxr oder agv k5 s ? Thank you very much!
Hey there, and welcome to the riding world! Both helmets will be top notch, but the best way to decide on one or the other would be to take your bike and riding style into account. If you've got a sport or sport-touring motorcycle, then the NXR would be better. However, if you're planning to focus more on touring then the K5s would be a better choice. In short, the sportier you go, the better the NXR will be
How disapointing that the helmet isn't shown with chin curtain.. A chin curtain is a must to keep insects out of the helmet and keep noise to a minimum.
Though the chin curtain does come with the helmet in the box, we chose to review the helmet without it to make it easier to see and access the interior. Nonetheless, we have actually tested out the helmet out on our road test where we measured the helmet's temperature, noise level, and more. If you're curious to see how it fared, you can check out our results here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-F5UERxtAHUM.html
@@Championhelmets Thanks.. I've seen it already. And I'm convinced the helmet is quite quiet. But I really want to keep bugs out of the helmet too.. I don't know if the helmet can do that. Helmets without a good chin curtain typically let bugs in the helmet.
@@Thomas-us4wq So far, we haven't heard much about whether the NXR lets bugs in. While there is always a chance of this, you can always add the included chin curtain and self-adhesive mesh or foam can help cover the vents (though this may negatively impact the ventilation). If you find you have any more questions, we're always happy to help
Hi avinkris The GT Air 2 should be pretty good for cold weather as it closes up pretty well. Depending on how cold it actually is though, you may want to ride with a balaclava or something extra to keep you warm
No problem. Most helmets will not be very warm at that temperature but if you close up the ventilation and have another layer, it should be ok. Make sure you use the pinlock visor though because you would probably get some fogging
The GT Air 2 is a bit better. Sunvisor, aerodynamics, newer, ventilation and so on. But the NXR is a fair bit older and less expensive. So what do you think?
@@shadowv6794 To add to what Shawos already mentioned. The GT air has sun visor, NXR is lighter and has smaller shell size. Pick what mean most to you, both good helmets in each way.
The NXR is meant to focus on being an all around helmet, so it will carry fewer touring features like a sun visor. However, have you taken a look at the Shoei GT Air 2? It is also meant for sport-touring, but it does include a drop down sun visor
