I built some hind lateral extension horseshoes for this horse named, Gigi. She has been barefoot behind for quite some time but as she has gotten older, she could use a little help with her movement. In the video you can see by her conformation that she could use the extra support. I built these shoes for her specifically out of 3/8"x3/4" bar stock. They came out pretty sweet overall! I’ve watched many videos of farriers now in the US and abroad and you were the first and only farrier I saw dust off the foot off to make sure there was no debris before you put the shoe on.. well done.

I'm a new subscriber just subscribed today. You do excellent work. You're a professional at this job, and you care for the horses you service. If not you wouldn't be in this job. Aloha Braddah!

❤ What a great job to have with those horses it has to be so satisfying to see the horse walk with relief and a smile. I mean your back must hurt every single day but I guess that comes with the job. 😁

Hoof width+toe to heel+1.5”+bump amount. So in this case I added a half inch for the lateral support

What products do you recommend owners use, especially for field horses here in the Pacific Northwest?

Hey Gavine, what brand of shoeing tool caddy are you using? It looks like you can swivel it around and use it from both sides, with different tools on either side. Is that correct? I am using 3 - the hoof stand with magnets and pic tubes screwed into it for tools for trimming, a homemade welded adjustable peg with 4 magnets for clinching tools, and the 'Shorty' box for shoeing. I'd like to have 'all' the tools in one place, plus a shelf with room for nail boxes, CS mud, etc. Yours looks like it might have all of that.

It’s a cart made by Nature Farms and I believe it’s called the Cobra

Such bad idea these shoes. They go from no load to fully loading the joint and entire leg too fast. Snapped my horses patella.
