How can you not as a fan of baseball? There's too many great performances going around to not appreciate great plays, even if the players are not on your own team. Shohei has answered the doubters.

@@Cliffem82 it’s crazy, the tickets are only 10-15$ usd to see the angles, history book stuff is happening and because the team isn’t good…no one is showing up. LA fans are some of the most fair-weather though, I grew up in Chicago. So don’t don’t test this…Cubs/Bears games sold out and we knew we were gonna lose. @@kenjichapman6447 this is an unusual play. He stolen 2nd base on swing by the batter. But the was interference when the bat made contact with the catcher’s helmet. So Ohtani had to go back to 1st. Then the next batter comes up and Ohtani steal 2nd again. He’s so fast that he’s able to outrun many plays like this. And his slide onto 2nd base is perfect in my opinion.

Got to think this will open the door to the universal DH and a lot more players trying to go 2-way. There might be players in the future who will do this better than Ohtani, but he's definitely the best we've seen so far. Hopefully he can work on striking out less as a hitter.

As an Angels fan since 1978 living in Washington for the last two plus years, I have to say the Mariners are playing surprisingly good baseball this season. They have a lot of young talent coming up and the only thing standing in their way of being a strong team and possible contenders over the next 3 to 5 years is the possibility of injuries and managerial incompetence. It looks like Jerry Dipoto may actually be a good general manager when he doesn't have to accommodate the irrational emotional decisions of the owner. It's a good time to be a Mariners fan.

Shohei’s biggest idol was Ichiro and growing up dreaming about becoming professional like him. Shohei still says to this day says Ichiro is his favorite. So power is not all for Shohei, he wants also to PLAY baseball the way Ichiro did….and that makes Shohei so special. ⚾️⚾️⚾️

Great point. Because of his size and power, many people don't realize how skillful he is. He just watches every small movements on the field, makes the best choice at the moment, and perfectly executes it. He's not just a freak athlete. He always plays right.

Another key was that he had the smarts to take that big lead at 2nd with a lefty pitching.

Stealing 2nd base twice and running from 2nd to home brought me to tears. It was just so amazing.
