A good film noir with lots of dark streets, the plot is rather complex and you need to pay attention, if you do it is a very rewarding watch. I can’t get over the sheer speed of the guy playing piano, just amazing. Thanks for posting.
...they don’t make em like this today...no cgi...no spoiled, politically motivated actors/producers/directors/writers....just good ol’ fashioned story telling brought to life by fine actors....lots of twists and turns....thanks for the upload....
Hard to judge a 1947 film by 2020 standards; .......but back then, this baby definitely had the audiences agog and on the edge of their cast iron seats!....I know; I was on of those wide-eyed cinemagoers seats of the 40's....in 1947, this film had everything.
Wow !!! Excellently written and a TRUE mystery. Being a mystery buff I LOVED the twists and turns in this story. 🤔Kept me alert and attentive to every bit of the plot and what was going on. Thanks for the download!!!! 😀
What an amazing movie, I never tire of watching it, probably around 5 times now and it gets better each time. The jazz man was superb, absolutely awesome, my fingers were bleeding just from watching it. Fantastic upload, thanks very much. 👍👍👍
Excellent. The piano player was Gene Rogers. Amazing face on that man. That secretary had spine! ! ! So satisfying , this movie. Characters to both love and hate. Lots of twists.
@@firstlast1357 - oh you mean the self admitted Marxist BLM funded by our U.S. Government? the rest of your organizations mentioned are just to keep everyone infighting. Divide & conquer. They're almost there now. They're winning. The American mind is too far gone to help save this country now.
WOW !!!!!!!.......The bogie wogie piano man was a bolt of lighting in a movie I was snoozing through......made "shoot to kill" memorable byond the title....a Berke directed film..
My dad used to tell me that the police drove cars that look like the PT Cruisers and would pick you up and throw you in jail and then let you out the next day if it wasn't the person that they were looking for now I see what he was talkin about great movie great cast thanks for sharing
Nowadays the cops just shoot and claim your cell phone was a handgun --- or they plant a gun on your body .There are two types of cops --- the bad ones --- and the cops who lie for the bad ones because of loyalty or intimidation. .
How times and people change, a B movie then, in all aspects far superior to most of the productions today, that cater to the less intelligent world ( in general) today.
There are still excellent films being made today but distribution is still mostly controlled by Hollywood . Two Greats I have recently seen are Nomadland and Ammonite. Enjoy..
Old classic movies like. these now have a home where they can be seen by all generations of folks they are free!!! Free to be seen on a computer tablet. or cell phone!!! So many good older films and even classic movie stars of long ago are now able to be seen by younger folks who will get to. see the classic movies like never before yah!!!!!!!!
Gene Rodgers was a master pianist. I've only seen him on one other video. It was called "Gene Rodgers Jukebox Boogie." How can someone that good be so unknown?
There are so many people like that on this planet Bro. Masters and beyond being a master. But he wasn't unknown. You and so many others know him. But he did what he did for for the love
Cornelieus......in his heart ,for the love of passionate Art ,to know is to be Bro....you must play or be involved in any form of art.Or just super cultured and in the know of all.
You have a very, gifted and talented son, if he plays like that! Do whatever you can for him to get that musical career going if he hasn't already started. Share that gift from God with the whole world...I'm waiting to hear...and God Bless You, Him...and all that is dear to you!
@@howardkerr8174 Not really. For one thing, the pianist (Gene Rogers) was playing "boogie woogie", not jazz. The distinction would have been obvious in those days. For another, this was popular music of the day, and Chinese restaurants were popular for society at-large, not just Chinese people, so of course the management would hire a musician to make music that would attract customers.
now i know who gave jerry lee lewis piano lessons....go to the10 minute mark and you can see for yourself.....not to mention this movie is way above average...really enjoyed !!
OK, PIZZA, extremely good movie, well made and great plot. Have more of your movies and they are very good indeed. Forget other comments. Now my only hope is that you must be careful as SS could be eyeing you, Thank you so much and be careful so that everyone can keep enjoying your fantastic film noir.
I wonder if the hats not coming off was in some way a holdover from earlier Western movies where the hats stayed on during fights so you could always tell the good guys from the bad guys?
Those were the days, smoking in every take, - i remember being a restaurmant patron, wreathed in smoke, gasping for breath and finding it normal. God bless the smoke free environment league for banning that crap form basically everywhere.
Not the "double-double cross"! If this movie had a bigger budget, maybe the cast from the Mercury Theater, such as Orson Welles, Everett Sloan, Erskine Sanders, Agnes Moorehead, etc; I think it would have been really good.
You guys are making me think the piano playing is bad. Hellacious, one guy said, and you say the piano player is killing it, like what, ruining the movie with it? I had to listen to the piano to see that you meant the piano playing is FABULOUS. Good, like Johnny B. Goode and Jerry Lee Lewis GOOD. :o)
@@Carly8Corday ~ I had to look it up. Funny thing is that hellacious is defined as something distasteful, awful, nasty, or repellent... but can also be used as a slang adjective meaning remarkable, unbelievable, astonishing, or extraordinary. I did not know this.
Nice. Great clean watchable movie. Now other than protecting the sanctimonious of the DA office why not run story of truth? DA office so ineffective everyone would think fix was in and good to pin on someone so they could clean house
