Not the first one, a little far back. Still lethal, but not as quickly.

I would lean towards it being slightly farther back then I'd like to see on the 1st shot but the lung size on elk is pretty big so he probably hit them. 2nd shot didn't do anything lethal. Hit bone by sound of it and the way the leg picked up, there's a fair chance it broke the thin part of the scapula but with how little it penetrated, I'd doubt it entered the chest cavity, and if it did, it wasn't by much

The 2nd shot actually broke his leg bone and caught lung. The bull only went 70-80 yards and piled up. Neither shot was ideal, although each would have been lethal on its own. The combination of the 2 was enough to provide a quick ending, but alone, each shot would have caused a much slower result.

Some dang good elk calling there! Thanks for posting the video and your honesty is awesome! Yes not the shots we as hunter like but thats how it is sometimes! It was awesome the way your caller stopped the bull for a second shot! Better make sure to have him on all your hunts:) 10 years dry on pulling my NM tag:(
