This is a first look and review of a weapons lubricant called Shooter Lube. It's a 2 step system with a Solvent and an Oil. I've had very good results with it on my pistols and now I'm going to use it on my rifles. Works great and it's affordable.

A friend of mine gave me a bottle of the solvent and oil about a year ago. Best thing I've tried so far.
@ballparkweiner1

It was on my FB Page last yr. with the coupon. The reason I tried it was because it's non-toxic and without any odor, so it's safe for me and my Wife doesn't scream at me because of the smell. I clean my firearms in the house. I like it. I have Hoppe's, Rem Oil, G-96, CLP and Sentry Solutions. They're all good. I don't use Motor Oil, WD-40, Lithium Grease, Crisco or Extra Virgin Olive Oil. But, each to there own. Thanks for another well thought out and filmed presentation TDS.

All solvents work! Even a dry piece of cloth or paper towel will remove an important amount of dirt. I know there are other uses for lead and things like that. Shooter Lube doesn't smell, I like it.

Over the last 10 years there have been many new cleaners and lubricants on the market. I watched all the reviews and they all seem to go quiet after a while. I think it's whatever that works for you. I have been using Hoppes #9 for cleaning and Rem oil for lube for years and it works fine.

I would urge people saying it's great stuff to do a real thorough cleaning with it, run a q-tip with the cleaner over a part and watch it come away clean. Now do the same test with Hoppes. The results will terrify you. I've replicated this on around 8 different firearms with the same result. Always cross compare. Too many jump on the wagon without checking just how great it is. When I did it with shooter lube and cleaned the hell out of the rifles I was stoked. Then I tried a q tip with hoppes and got a carbon filled q-tip :(. Good for quick cleanings but definitely does not penetrate. Smell is non existent though which is a huge plus.

@nu-visionstudios-jasonalem1895
@nu-visionstudios-jasonalem1895 2 года назад
Technically Hoppes is only for the bore not to clean a whole gun like most people do which is wrong. these kind of products are like Ballistol They just don’t smell and you can clean the whole gun with it just won’t be as clean as hoppes because of the ammonia. Again Hoppes is for the bore so none of these products will clean a bore like one with ammonia like Hoppes.

At 5:30 you say that you only enter the bore snake in the direction the bullet would travel. but then pull it back out going the opposite way. Wouldnt that kind of make it going both ways ?

I don't know if you still need this question answered, but that wasn't a bore snake he was using in the video. That was a cleaning rod. A bore snake is kind of like a long, fat string and you typically pull it straight through.

I've tried a dozen different oils (but not this one) and have come to the conclusion that anything that keeps the gun wet will perform just fine. If I had to do it all over again, I would have saved a hundred or two dollars on high priced gun oils and just used a quart of Mobile One, which would have lasted a lifetime.

Hi, any update on how tis system has been working for you? Have you noticed any fouling that was difficult for the solvent to tackle? Any fouling that has been built up and caked on that you used it on (not fresh burnt powder, to similate those who don’t clean as often). Also how do you think about the lubrication / protection properties of the lube? Anything stick out as superior than the other CLP products due to it being a 2 step system? Thanks
@sixfootdworf9545

I have been using it for two years. I personally clean my weapons after each use, but this is very easy and fun to use. I have always been a spray everywhere and wipe it down kinda guy. The stage one you just spray everywhere, let it sit for a few seconds, and start wiping or brushing away. Gets stuff super clean. The oil with the applicator needle is then used to lubricate moving parts. A drop on each of the slide rails, and then a drop on the trigger bar, safety plunger, etc.

Paul Highbaugh I use weapon shields oil and I have to agree, that stuff is very viscous and stays on. Honestly though everyone buys so into the hype of the best cleaner and etc. as long as it won't freeze or evaporate easily, it will work. I shoot and clean monthly so even the cheapest oil would work. If you shoot thousands of rounds in between cleanings then you wouldn't want something cheap

+Lex Green There is some real chemistry here Lex. They didn't send me this stuff I got it from a friend so I don't have to defend them but lubricant made specifically for firearms is deferent than Grease and mineral oil. That stuff may be cheaper but not the best for a firearm
@MatteoSixSeventyFour
@MatteoSixSeventyFour 7 лет назад
Not too sure on the mineral oil. But I'd agree WL grease is more than fine for use firearms. There are several top notch builders who recommend it. Such as Jim Fuller to name but 1. As for oils on a whole within the firearms industry, there is a lot of snake oil. In most cases a hi temp & pressure additive in basic oil will more than suffice. And plenty of ppl have had great results with mobile 1 and other such brands in their guns. If it works well within a high pressure and heat environment like an engine. It'll get the job done in a firearm. The solvent OTOH is interesting. I've yet to delve into that sort of thing
@jayboston9620
@jayboston9620 7 лет назад
The Daily Shooter Cool, they sent it out & not trying to attack. Just take a more scientific/realistic approach..Meaning, Mineral Oil is the base compound, now I could go for additives, but they often show little to no return on performance in a firearm & same or even more so for motor oil. Simply cause you can't even get the gun hot enough to break down the oil. Now if we all had Full Auto SAW's, Shit yeah give me the peak performance additive oil. Otherwise what's good enough, is often Good Enough.
