Shooting a left handed bow right handed
Yes it’s possible to shoot a left handed bow right handed even tho it’s not really ideal.

The Mongolians shot bows on the non-dominant side of the bow. It was said to be faster on horseback to reload a bow. Their conquests are evidence of how it was effective.

Mongolians, tatars, Koreans, Scythians, Turks, Chinese, Japanese, Hungarians/Magyars, the English longbow men in some medieval paintings shoot right sided, and I’ve probably touched a fraction of the list. Shooting on the right side of the bow is incredibly common and super fun for speed shooting. But these aren’t center shot bows. The question is are there issues with compound bows with shooting a center shot bow like a compound or modern recurve “on the wrong side”. I can’t honestly think of one. It’s possible you need to cant the bow a little to make sure the shot is lined up straight.

I grew up shooting recurve using a left handed bow. Pulling arrows from your back overhand and setting on the right side just feels more natural to me. History shows that many groups all over the world shot this way before the English decided to put the arrow on the left side vs the right.

If you like Diamond bows, my new 2023 Diamond by Bowtech Alter binary-cam bow is pretty sweet, very smooth drawing, and mid-priced with swappable performance and comfort modules and a huge weight/draw adjustment range. It comes in right and left, ha ha ha!

One can load faster this way, no archer's paradox with a mechanical release, and drop away or whisker biscuit rests, so why not? However, I get the idea that this kid is a natural with uncanny athletic flexibility, so maybe not for everyone.

Man I traded my shotgun for a lefty bow and was really depressed when I realized the mistake I made. But this video gives me hope guys. Thanks!! I think I just need to figure out how to line the peep sight up with the sight without and blocked sight from the bow string in front of the peep sight

I'm actually about to buy a bow and was torn on whether to buy left or right handed. I'm left handed, but compound bows are all designed to rest the arrow on the non-dominant side, and i want to rest my arrows on the dominant side, so nice to see it can be done. But I heard there are ergonomic and sighting issues if you fire an opposite handed bow. I've considered whether or bot you can simply mount the arrow rest of a left handed bow on the left hand side, but it seems like you cannot from what I've gleaned.

why not get a recurve?

@@spacemonkey1776 I'm gonna a longbow, a recurve and a compound. But other than longbows and recurves being quieter, cheaper and easier to maintain, compound's are superior to recurves and longbows in every way. A compound with the same draw weight as a comparable quality recurve will require less force to draw and less force to hold at full draw due to the let off. And a compound with the same draw weight as a comparable quality recurve will shoot the same arrow at significantly higher velocities.

@@arcticwolf8313 i have a Hoyt Satori. Its an apsolute killing machine. I started off with recurves because in a SHTF scenario i can recreate a recurve or longbow. I cant recreate a compound, unless i spend a ton of money on a press and other equipment. I also have a crossbow and a compound on the way. A compound has allot more range but where i hunt its tight woods so its in recurve range all day. But if you want to shoot same side long bow or recurve is your ticket. I take it youve seen Lars Anderson is why you want to shoot same side. Low weight and no shelf is required to shoot like that. The good thing about archery is you can do it how ever you want bro. Happy hunting.

So if I’m left handed and the bow is right handed can I still shoot it without getting hit by the strings?

@@AUSTINFRILOUX okay well I have a right handed bow but can’t pull it back Right handed but can left so I can try shooting it left 100%?

No there’s no chance of string slap because the cables are towards your arm not the string. That’s one possible advantage, although I don’t think string slap is a real issue with compounds (haven’t shot them a whole lot)
