So, I take from this, and this vid was hard to find, I take that the 7.5j version (basically the only legal version in the UK) is that for max impact and minimal misfire the steel/rubber compound are best (obvs I’m not saying they compare to a 11j or 30j destricted version or a real 22 etc) but better than nothing and better than rubber balls and better than a .177 bb airgun, cheers
Like I was told in the military, a weapon is only a weapon if used as a weapon. Add the AEA HP SS to the pot bruh .22/.25/.30, all three are lethal enough to take down a coyote with ease from 50 yards away and their semi auto... Nice hitters you got tho💯
I'm honest opinion, I had my cousin to shoot me with it within 15 to 10 feet range. It stung for some time and I had a swelled spot. It wasn't designed in mind to put dents in aluminum or steel. Until you get shot with it. You can't say it's not a home defense. It definitely is. Once you'll hit with it stock you'll agree removing the valve block really isn't needed.
Just testing what works and what doesn't. The point here was if you are going to be using the heavier projectiles, the power does need to be adjusted for it. Thanks for watching! 💥 💥💥
Nah bro lol at my channel I took 4 shots from this and I would still keep going if I really wanted to I don't trust it as a self defense weapon without any modifications to it.

dude you should upgrade the hip because those ammo are way to heavy for 7.5joules. because the 7.5j really suck but you can upgrade it to shooting 20joules. the 7.5 have no place for home defense. only souped up markers might help in self defense
I think the hdp 50 compact got 8.9 to 10 joules on 1gram rubber balls, which is 420 on first round and like upper 300s fps on rounds after, the the umarex pepperballs weigh.08 gram, thats flys close in fps as rubber, i seen a video on dis regular hdp 50 and some guy shot his girlfriend in back that had a security gaurd jacket on, because he does security somwhere, but she aint feel a thing so that tells me the gun is only 7.5 joules or lower if that, it needs to be 11 joules black version and it will do better or even with more joules if made even stronger, on the compact i only seen 2.8 grams fired out of mod version like 11 joules or more and gets like mid to lower 300s im, assuming on factory version of compact its like only mid 200 fps with aluminum balls.
You would have to be close quarters for the steel balls to be effective deterrent due to the weight. 25 feet is the maximum effective range for them to be of any effect but I definitely wouldn't want to be inside of 10 yards of those steel ball still🤣 we are talking .50 fire or no fire that still is serious knock. At some point I think I will be removing my valve block and going with aluminum ammo and a tite bore barrel not to mention dieseling and I don't think ANYBODY would volunteer to be touched by that.
Kenn, absolutely you MUST remove the valve block. That will almost double the FPS of rubber/steel rounds. Also, his shooting distance was too far. Most self-defense situations are indoors, at a distance of 10 to 20 feet (that's what I'm calculating for my needs).
I did remove the block. The HDP-50 is now broken because of it, so I won't be doing that again. I use 25 feet for my standard because it is the length of the hallway from the living room to my bedroom.💥💥💥
@@thellc24-7 hi yes. There are a few videos. People say take it out but i did not. If you take the pistol apart in the rear is a valve block. It has a pin hole for the air. I drilled my out to 3/16 and now it's a power house. You can shoot 1 6 rounds mag at full power. Then the 2 nd loading is less but still recommended. I use rubber balls and glass.
My detailed comments in here got deleted twice. Not sure why. Anyway, what I said was that I have both aluminum rounds, and what seller "SSR" on Amzn. calls "Rubber-Steel Balls." On my modded HDP 50 I'm getting 400 FPS with the "Rubber-Steel Ball" ammo. SSR says the rounds are: 50 caliber, made of very strong 50% rubber, uniformly mixed with 50% steel powder. Rounder and much heavier than comparable rubber balls on the market. One single ball is around 2.7 grams. So far these rounds have functioned precisely and without incident. You get max velocity and a very hard punch. I'm pleased with my aluminum rounds too. And because in 50 cal. the round is very light, you get in the high 400s FPS! Bottom line: The two compared, for self defense I'm preferring SSR's rubber-steel ball rounds.
What brand Co2 did you use? because i just found out that crosmans are now selling the weaker Chinese ones with the skinny neck. Looks like only Umarex & Gamo (Germany/Spain) are selling the good ones from US factory.
Last ones I got, which are the ones used here are crossman. I got a 40 pack from that one store that sells everything. But today I saw a 30 pack of Umarex at the feed store for 12.99. I was not aware there was a difference. So now that you mention it, I will have go back for them. Thanks!👍🏾👊🏾✌🏾
You can mod this gun to over 20 joules without buying a kit all you got to do is remove the valve block it's easy the video on how to do it is on RU-vid you don't get but about 10 powerful shots but it'll shoot riot balls 500 fps and you can still shoot pepper balls after modding. You should mod it then redo this video
The way it is at 200 fps, it’s just a paintball gun. We need be honest and not put people in danger thinking they can trust this. You need at least 500 fps to break and spray pepper balls enough, and also give pain stopping power to somebody. You’re better off with a 4.5mm steel BB gun and shooting someone in the face at this point.
