Shooting the Marlin 60 22lr Stainless Steel Rifle 

That is one beautiful marlin 60 rifle! I bought my first marlin in 1989 for 105.95 and it still shoots like brand new.

I got my marlin 60 from Kmart for $60. I had to Spent one whole months earning from my paper route as a kid. Later I upgraded it with a sling and $20 scope. I've shot like 8000 rounds plus threw mine. It stills sits in my gun safe in a place of honor.

Marlin Model 60.Doesn't matter if it's stainless or not.Best rifle in it's class.Get yourself a Spee-D-Loader for tube fed rifles,you won't regret it.Just be careful when cleaning and screwing the rear screw on the trigger assembley,it can break.DI Products web-site has replacement aluminum assemblies that will last a life time,,good video.

This is the best looking 22lr.

I have one (in SS also) and like the rifle very well. Just one thing to be aware of. When emptying the rifle be SURE to manually eject the last TWO rounds from the rifle. Unlike all the others I have handled this rifle retains TWO live cartridges after the magazine tube is emptied... and if you don't know that you may one day find yourself unpleasantly surprised.

Think I like it better than the Ruger 10/22 .

I believe the ONLY advantage the Ruger 10-22 has over the Marlin model 60 is that it can be reloaded fasted with a magazine. Both are fine rifles but I do believe the marlin is more accurate and is just a more hansom firearm.

My first gun was a M60. Still have it. That thing is over 50 years old and still works. It mainly sits at home now though and I use my other M60 I picked up a couple of years ago.

Should have splurged & put a nice Stainless Steel scope on it.Sweet rifle.That ammo was slow & you can see it before it hits the target.

Very nice. I have the exact same setup. Stainless and a 3x9 scope and it is VERY accurate too

My Tech sights for my Marlin 60 (also fits 795, 70 Papoose ) are arriving 2 morrow!!! They are purported to B the best "thang" since rolled toilet Papper!@ I love my Tube fed 60 and we ALL have the best barrels in the game!!!

$60 for .22 ammo is insane. I think I got my marlin 60 in 1986 for $60. We use to buy a plastic ammo can with 500 rounds of .22 for like 12-15 bucks and shot the whole thing up in one day. Your dad was right guns and ammo were more affordable. Now they want you to take out a lone on your house for a day of shooting.

I now have a Ruger 1022 10 rd magazine clip, I used to have this rifle marlin and I like the way it shot and loaded much better. I want to get me another one

just picked me up a new model 60 recently. seems to be a good gun. have yet to shoot it, but I cant wait.

A good cheap .22 with real good accuracy is the old Springfield 87a made by savage just re branded. Shoots as a single shot or semi.

No. No, do not remove the magazine tube out in the woods. Pull it to the end, it will stay. Otherwise you will drop it and you will get dirt and mud inside your weapon.

Just watched a video which explained not to bench rest off the barrel because it affects accuracy. Just saying. After much thought I bought the ss 60. I also purchased a spee d loader. Which is a whole lot faster and easier than loading magazines.

You sound SOOO much like your Daddy! I bet folks can't tell you apart on phone messages! I love the Speed D Loaders from Mid Way!!! 8 -15 round slots in a cylinder (120 rounds) that load a 60 (my 2011 actually holds 15) in < 1 sec!!!! Much better than a box or even a BX 25 IMO !!! Also, is that a "Do IT ALL" rimfire target? If so , I may fuy one @ Academy. It looks as though yourz has served you well.

Question: Are the receiver all in stainless steel or aluminum as the blued one ?, the same question is for the trigger guard which in the blued is made from plastic. Thanks!

Nice rifle you got there! That box of 22lr ammo was an attention grabber for me, lol. Haven't seen one of those on the shelves at my local gun shop or Wal mart in a while. Just recently, a Bass Pro shop had opened up in Tacoma, WA (2 hr drive up north from where I live) they had almost everything in stock, including 22lr and the first ammo to go was the 22lr. It only took 2-3hrs for it to sell out. I didn't get a chance to go :-( The good news is that my (Lewis co.) county sheriff said that he will not be enforcing 594, because it is unconstitutional.

I have a 1978 Glenfield Marlin 60 serial number starts with 222. I'm 69 yo and do 1/4 groups on one knee off a bench not using some fancy frame it sits in. Do it free hand kneeling and I'll be impressed. BTW you never how many yards you are shooting.

These are a lot of fun but is it just me, or is marlin slipping on their quality control? I have a 60 & a 336 and both came with really jacked up rear sights. And every one I looked at had the same problem.
