Navy Seabee, I was a lucky pup to carry an Ithaca model 37. Mine had Gold hunting scenes on each side. It outshot any M14, or M16. 9 rounds of 00 buck.
Ejected and loaded from the bottom. It was so warm in the morning waking up. The only time I ever thought of being a criminal was for keeping it. The concrete wall went up like a prison. I hope it's in a military museum. 1970--75
I have an old Ithaca 37 as my main go to home defense shotgun. Its not a trench gun but a nice 18 inch barrel featherweight with wood furniture with an attached nylon side saddle and leather sling.
I own a Ithaca model 37 Police model shotgun that I just love which I have owned and used it for more than 50 years. It shoots like a rifle with a Slug as the deer hunting area I hunt in, is shotgun and hand guns only. The Ithaca is good out to hundred yards no problem and I love it along with my other rifle, which is my Model 70 Winchester 30-06 with open sites that’s makes it hard to miss your target.
Correction...nothing puts the "fear of death" in a bad guy....then discharging a shotgun in a closed environment. Racking....as we all know...means nothing.
The Ithaca model 37 that I had was probably the best pump shotguns I ever owned I can't find a new one on the shelf anymore I called Ithaca you have to special order them and they have a premium price tag and they are worth it.
Ithaca 37 was also in Vietnam. They liked it because it ejected from the bottom and slam fired. I think they were sawn off civilian models. Seems i remember a veteran telling me that. Ever heard the stoner term “blowing a shotgun?”
I was so lucky to buy a 1970 m37 with the slam fire from a guy. He said he paid about 400 back in 10 70 and only shot it less than 25x. I got it for 225! And that was in like 2017 I think. 400 in 1970 is easily 1000 today. When I took it apart to clean I found the ORIGINAL GREASE dried up inside. Grease don't just dry up in 10 15 years like that. That takes time.
As a MP in the Army , we used Winchester shotguns in 90’s , each platoon had 3 or 4, they used old M1 Garand bayonets which looked like a sword over a bayonet. It was used in civil disobedience aka riots, with POW’s , and guarding sensitive sites and nuke weapons. I have a picture too.
My favorite pump shot gun is a Remington Model 17 for hunting ... the father of the Ithaca Model 37. It is lite and I love the bottom loading and ejection as the shell husks land at your feet ( I always pick mine up !!!) I also have hunted w/ a Winchester 1897 , a little heavier ... both where designed by Mr John Moses Browning and are awesome firearms !!!!
Just bought the Rock Island armory version made in Turkey for $489 it looks just like the original trench gun but in blue steel and beautiful Turkish Walnut 😅
My grandpa was 3rd marine division in the pacific, in the late 80s I inherited a model 37 Featherlite and a model 37 trench gun. Lucky me? Is it real? I have more questions now than ever before!
"And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And anyone NOT FOUND written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire." (REVELATION 20:12-15 NKJV) Today, while you are still alive and able, may you repent from your sins, believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that JESUS CHRIST is your Lord and Savior, so that through Him, your name will be written in the Book of Life. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever BELIEVES in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved." (JOHN 3:16-17 NKJV) By God's GRACE ✝️, the gift of Salvation and Eternal Life is available to all. You can RECEIVE it. You can REJECT it. May you choose wisely.
