I love this series. Last year I slowly made the transition to a more curated, ethical yet colourful closet. Yet I struggled with applying the same principals to my kids clothes. Your videos inspired me to give this technique a try with my fashionista daughter. Instead of buying something new for every birthday party or event we shop her closet for new exciting combinations. She has really taken to it, coming up with exciting ‘unique’ outfits all on her own. So thank you, not just for inspiring me, but also for helping empower the next generation to make more sustainable choices for our planet. May your tribe grow ☘️💚
Wow this is so amazing to hear - I am touched and honoured! Thanks for sharing, I hope both you and your daughter have fun shopping your closets! Huge thank you for watching :)
Love your videos because you don’t advice to go shopping and spending MORE money. I’m trying to control my obsession with shopping, so your videos are a GREAT motivation for me. Thank you! Loved both looks! Where are the over the knees from.? So pretty!
wow this is so inspiring to hear, so glad you find these videos helpful Evelyn! My over the knee boots were a consignment find several years ago ... I linked to something similar in the description box :)
The looks for a hit. I love how you break the looks down. I also realize that I buy new things because I am bored with what I have. You inspire me to create new looks with what I have in my closet and it makes my clothes seem new and refreshing. Thx so much for all that you do : )
Thank you so much Mindy for the kind comment - this is exactly what I'm after and I hope you have fun "shopping" your own closet :) Thank you for watching! xx
I love your style.. you're teaching me how to shop in my own closet. My problem is I have to use a cane I can no longer have not even a kitten heel so how could I look good, I'm 63 and I'm 5"3, and apple shape. HELP
Loved the first one and think you knock them both out! Yes please 2 looks. I love how you break them down to make it work with what you have. Great styling!
Your videos always make me think 'outside the box'. I love the two choices as you have given a definite cold weather version along with a warmer weather choice. Since joining your channel I have focused on whether or not a new purchase can blend with what I have and also give me new looks... Bravo and keep these videos coming 💚
hi there! Yay!! This type of comment makes my heart sing, I hope you are enjoying curating and building a thoughtful closet :) Thank you so much for watching and have a great week! xx
Both looks you created looked stylish and edgy. I am fascinated by your analysis of fashion elements and your creative ability to use what you already have. Great video!! Two looks was just the right number.
I love that you gave us two looks! They were both lovely, but the first was my favorite. Also love the white sweater you’re wearing. As I recall, it was a recent find... love the way you’ve styled the scarf with it. (I may have overused the word “love” in this comment- but it comes from my heart. 💕) Have a great week and stay warm!
Haha thanks so much Debbie im glad you loved those looks and everything else! Can never have too much love in the world and I so appreciate it❤️ thank you for watching and have a great week! xx
Yup, you did it again! My fave is the duster look, mostly because it's something you don't see every day. Love your wrap look because you teach us how to make it work even if it's not a match. Bravo!
I am new to your channel and am not a big shopper - so I love this sort of challenge. I do like 2 looks for one video - gives a little something for everyone! Also, I have daughters and we try to evaluate what item or items are missing from their wardrobes to make certain looks work. So much more healthy than constantly buying entire new outfits. Keep up the good work!!!
I am halfway through your video...and enjoying it sooo much...and wanted to make this comment. I think that green lace "duster" is a wrap dress. Long maxi wrap dresses are such a good investment as they can be worn as dusters. Also long button down dresses. O.K...heading back. Loving your choices and running my mind through my wardrobe for my choices.
I think you nailed it for both looks! I could see the likeness of both alternatives to the originals. You have inspired me to take a closer look at my closet ..Thanks!
for years, I let being older and heavier guide my choices, but your videos, and your vivaciousness inspire me to modify my frumpy clothes into much more fun and kicky outfits...shopping my closet has become my new sport!!!
Brand new subscriber here - LOVE this style of video! The first look was spot on, and the second look was a fantastic twist based on what you have available. Keep up the great work!
I love how you build outfits from your own closet! It is so helpful and gives me ideas of how to breath new life into my wardrobe! Can't wait for the next one!
Beautiful, as always! Dusters are one of my definite go-to's (most of mine are lightweight, summer knit type; more hobo, hippie-chic) but love the looks you've created here.
Hello Alyssa, I think both of outfits were a hit. I especially liked the first outfit...it suits my style so well. I love these videos because they give me so many ideas on different ways to utilize pieces in my closet. Thanks!
Your final look..GORGEOUS! Love it! I have a GG gold belt...think I will use that instead. I also have a sheer black Eileen Fisher maxi dress. I will separate the attached slip and use it...with the J.Brand black wax jeans I purchased in the Spring of 2011...a tiny little flair at the bottom...I call them my Star Trek pants as Lt. Uhura, Spock, Bones, and Captain Kirk wore back in the day
Thank you Lisa! Love your use of the Eileen Fisher Maxi! So smart - and LOVE the Star Trek reference - those pants sound great and right back on trend with the kick flair :) Happy shopping your closet and thank you for watching :) Have a wonderful week! xx
Poppy Barley is FABULOUS! Bookmarked them. When I am in the market for a new pair of boots....I will head their way. I love the tall boots, too. I need more of a heel...but that may come once this kitten heel trend is over. I have bookmarked their site for future reference. Thanks for sharing!
love both of the looks pretty close call but the second one wins by a freckle. Said it before and I'll say it again, I really appreciate how you break down the look and describe the crucial defining factors so we/your audience could hopefully try out something similar. Thank you
Alyssa, Love the fun looks, especially the duster. 2 looks are great! Listen, for your 2019 wishlist, add a black leather tote bag. You also need a black hat for your looks plus weather conditions. 👋😄
I love both! I liked how you adapted for your climate! Turtlenecks and tights are great ways to give warmth to 'summery' wear. Two looks are great! I always enjoy this segment!!
I know I'm ridiculously late to this video and really don't understand how I could have missed it- but just had to say how much I enjoyed it and is now one of my favourites of this recreate-the-look style videos you do 😘 xx
I think my favorite was the duster with turtleneck! Learning how to break the elements down to really understand how the outfit comes together is so helpful! Love these videos as they inspire me to play in my closet and use what I have. So trying to control my bad shopping habit and cull my wardrobe. I have waaaay too much. It's embarrasing really. Getting better thanks to you and your videos. Thanks Alyssa!!♥
aw Noelle! This is such a great comment as it is exactly why I started the channel :) I'm so glad you find these videos helpful and I hope you enjoy shopping your closet! I'm sure you're doing great ;) thanks for watching! xx
You’ve inspired me so much over the last year. I began 2019 by setting the intention to shop my own closet more and buy MUCH less. I’ve promised myself to only shop second-hand this year (besides 2-3 investment pieces I’m allowing myself to purchase while in France) and to always sell a piece for each item I introduce. So far I’m finding so much balance in this, and it’s becoming a bit of a hobby. Thank you so much for sharing your innovative styling tips with us. 🖤
I agree with your concept of sexiness. And the wrap dress, Oh it's timeless! Thanks again for the great ideas on how to put together a nice wardrobe. I liked both choices and I can see myself putting together my own variations of the two you shared.
Love your videos and I enjoyed seeing 2 different looks this time. I like the idea that I may not get the exact outfit but it gets me to style my pieces in different ways and actually get a look that I love more than the one I was trying to replicate.
The wrap dress look is fabulous! The fedora is great. I do love this dress and you are SO lucky to be able to fit your long, slender, toned legs into thigh high boots! You look incredible in those boots and for that reason this look is a real good one for you. For those of us who do not have such incredible legs.. midi/maxi dresses work better. They are a staple in my wardrobe and I have them in many color ways as they work as dresses, dusters, tunics..... Having a south western/constrained boho look....I have this covered. The longer dresses lengthen my silhouette.
Thank you Lisa! Yes such a great point about midi-maxi dresses - it's so important to dress for what works for your body. ALSO - wanted to mention Poppy Barley to you! Your comments from last week re; calf size - Poppy Barley has an online custom boot system where you can measure you calf/feet etc. and they will make you a boot that fits! Canadian company but ships to the US i believe :) xo
@@AlyssaBeltempo Thank you so much Alyssa! I will definitely put that on my resource list. I LOVE these Outfit Envy/Steal Her Style videos so much. Also, the video on caring for sweaters....Euclacan Wool Wash..I LOVE THAT SO MUCH! I have the comb and the Eucalyptus. I even use it on non-wool hand wash! I look forward to your videos so much....Keep up the great work! My Shop My Wardrobe until everything is worn is coming along fine. I purchased some lip color....but cosmetics was not on the list. I go through it...all those primers and skin care products. I am such a fan of TATCHA skin care. It all seems to run out at once and I am preparing for the purchase of three of those products....and my Armani make-up. Perhaps in March
What fun! The first look is BETTER than the inspirational picture, esp the black for warmer weather....Thanks for starting my lazy Sunday with such a great video
I love the 2 looks since they are similar, and give me ideas on how they vary! I love watching your videos while playing dress up - they help me put together looks for the upcoming week, and keep me from shopping!
Yes definitely show two looks! I really appreciate you landing on a new look that is awesome and is not exactly like the inspo pic. I love my clothes but do wear them the same way too often! I get lost in options and then miss opportunities because I think I'm missing items. Thanks for helping.
I feel like I really needed to watch these types of videos. It feels as if you are freeing me from this endless cycle of buy, buy, buy. You are rewiring my brain. I have a lot of opportunity in my own closet than I ever realized.
You are hands down one of favorites and you inspire me so much to pull stuff from my closet to recreate the looks you are showing. It’s so much more fun to use what you already have rather than always wanting more. Love your videos.
I prefer your outfits so much better. You definitely gave me food for thought in re-looking at my closet. Can't wait to take your tips and create something new from what I already have.
Hey Alyssa, that is being very innovative and that’s what it’s all about! Loved your two looks....and I loved that you did two outfits for us. I love the whole concept of slow fashion and you are a real inspiration.
Alessandro learning new ideas! I loved both outfits so much and my favorite was the wrap dress look. I definitely picked up some tips that I can use right away. Thanks so much!
Two is better than one! More? Yes, please. I liked both looks even though I don't have a long duster thing and it's probably too dramatic for where I live (very casual). I do like the wrap dress outfit. I could do that for church or going out or for an event. Thanks again, Teacher!
Hi Alyssa 🤗. The more the merrier on outfits. First pic of girl looks just like you. Same body type, long dark hair. Im not into dresses myself, so I would wear black culottes with a printed blouse, for choice. Hope all is well and have a wonderful week! ♥️
Hi Gina! Great to hear! Love your idea of pairing culottes with a printed blouse - so smart! All is well - thank you for watching and have a wonderful week! xx
Do I care? No. 😂 I love you 😂 really who cares. You're not copy her look by wearing the same clothes, but you suppose to recreate this look with your own. So you did great job as always! 👏👏👏👍😘
Yayyyyyyyyyyyyy I love a good shop your closet. If you ever did a Ted talk I would watch. You have such a fresh way of thinking. People are caught up in the wrong things. You can still have style and not be so wasteful. You are so confident and secure within yourself. You are really teaching us to learn "why" we like an outfit without having to copy it exactly. TFS as always! The black outfit was my fave but I'm partial to black lol so... Please do 2+ looks!
OK, so you are always a hit! You give me so much inspiration to look beyond just a picture of a look and to make it my own. I love your videos so much, and loved the 2 looks or however many you will give us..... more .... more!
I have many wrap dresses, they hide my tummy... so this was great, never thought they could be re-styled so successfully.. opens up many new ways to wear them without looking frumpy... Just found your channel and love it even though I’m much older than you ! (feeling lost in my early fifties and need re-direction regards looks)
Hi Sue! That's so great to hear, glad you found some new way to style your wrap dresses :) That's what this channel is all about! Thanks so much for watching!
I liked both looks, your look is a lot edgier and I think I'm more likely to wear something along that line. Loved what you said about discovering more options for your wrap dress and I REALLY love how you emphasise the importance of not envying what other ppl have/wear but rather to look to what you do have and making it work to your own satisfaction
As always, loved your exercise ! And yes, I was happy to get two looks this time. Very interesting to see how you deconstruct the looks and recreate them in a different but quite similar manner at the same time. Really great !
Thank you Veronique I'm so glad you enjoyed having two looks and still enjoy this series :) so appreciate you watching and wishing you a wonderful week!
Love the second look especially. Would you consider styling a couple of looks for older ladies who find heels difficult? Perhaps your mum or a friend? Approaching a big birthday this year and am no longer rocking heels!
I love your videos. I am trying to " shop my closet", trying to buy less and enjoy more what I already have. You are a great inspiration in my journey. Hugs from Connecticut.
Fab video! I found it really helped me with my continuing mission to wear my existing clothes and be more imaginative than keep making myself skint by buying new stuff I can't style!! So, thanks 😘
I have the second picture pinned! I live in midi dresses, and I recently got a short black blazer to wear over dresses... I might try this look tomorrow! Thank you for the idea. 😊
I, too, love this video! I think it was great that you did two looks! Your videos always end too soon for me. So I say do as many as you like. I always enjoy seeing your creativity and appreciate how you explain the thought process that drives it. 😍👍🏻
I just discovered you this morning and I'm super excited! I've been looking for someone like you who is stylish, put together and uses pieces already owned! I've started looking at outfits from the prospective you talk about (breaking the pieces down) and I've put several outfits together from my pins and the clothes I own. You are awesome! TY for sharing great tips and I look forward to watching all of your videos😘
Hi Christie! Wow so fun - welcome! So glad you found the channel and that you like it so far :) LOVED reading about how you shopped your closet :) Enjoy and thanks so much for watching! xx
I am sincerely very impressed! You rocked those looks! Thank you for breaking it down and making it look amazing within your wardrobe! I learned a lot! I hope you continue this as an on going series!
Thank you so much Kathleen! Yes I will :) There's a whole shop your closet playlist and I will continue to do this every month! Thank you so much for watching!
Just love these videos. Really make me think about how to utilise what i have without it being identical to what you are trying to re-create. . Like how you explain how the outfit is put together and the key elements to look for. You talk about the people you follow and i automatically subscribe to them. However, for me you do the whole thing ten times better than anyone. Just wish we had more vintage shops in the North of England. The more the merrier for me! Xx
Aw thank you so much for this kind comment Lynn I really appreciate you taking the time to write as I know it's been a while that Ive been doing these videos and I don't know if you still find them useful!! So thank you :) so glad you liked it and thank you for watching!
Once again you nailed your challenge!!! I loved the first look you did. In both ways you presented it! The second look with the dress and jacket was also great. And has me thinking!!! On a side note. I did go shopping this week looking for a dress. I tried a few on. And decided against a new purchase, and decided to work with what I have. I now feel even more empowered to create a great look with what I have! Thank you Alyssa! My Sunday morning encouragement has me excited!!! xo
Hi Mary!! Aw I loved this comment thank you so much for watching and I'm so glad you have found inspiration in your own closet! Happy "shopping" and wishing you a wonderful week! xx
Great video as always! I LOVE how you modified the outfit to fit the cold weather, I live in Vancouver, winter here is not as brutal...but still I have to wear a heavy scarf on top of my V-neck sweater when I go out. Your outfit looks amazing thanks for sharing!
