ardyth, you have a remarkable sense of creativity combined with an excellent eye for color. each of your videos inspire me. thank you for sharing with your pleasant down-to-earth attitude!
Oh. Wow, Ardyth! You always blow me away with your creative ideas, and i love your fun presentations. I definitely need to shop my stash. Now, where to begin ..???
You never know when you'll find a new tip/technique in these videos ! The one I loved in this video, is the idea to die cut your sentiment into the main image and then insert the a die cut into the cutout... Thought that was most interesting & a fun idea!
That's an old one that I haven't done in ages - it has some really need border-type applications. I'll have to expand on it. Thanks so much for watching!
Haha! Me too, even with an inventory. Because I live in Canada, things sometimes take a while to get to me, and I remember that I wanted something but 'forget' that it's already on order! Thanks so much for watching!
So beautiful.. I have noticed that uou always startbwith a2 panel and then die cut it to square.. So my question is, what you do with those leftover piecea.. Please make an inspiration video of that.. Thank you..
Oh boy. Yes, I do that. It's because I keep pre-cut A2 panels on hand, and when I cut it down, I can choose which part of the panel I want to use on my square card. And mostly, the extras get thrown out. Eek! Sometimes, if it's very pretty, I will put it as a strip on the inside of the card, at the bottom. But now you've got me thinking..... Thanks for watching!
LOVE your channel! I'm A very new sub but have been binge watching for days! Anyway, one thing I wanted to say that I've learned is blending both directions with my tools so the ink gets up close to all the edges of the stencil 😃 I've gotten so much inspiration from watching you!! I have a hard time doing clean and simple because I feel like the people I send them to expect over the top but really I think I'm not alone in putting undue pressure on myself. I'm ready to do this and be happy about it! No more self harmful pressure!
I hear you about people's expectations, and over time, I've tried to remember that while I'll try to make something they'll like, they know who I am and what my style is, and they appreciate it even if it's not exactly what they would make. I hope that makes sense. LOL! Thanks for watching, and subbing and leaving such a nice comment!
Love using what you already have rather than buying more more more. ❤ I have a hard time resisting buying all of the things. Or at least I want to buy all of the things.
I agree 100% - USE the stuff we have at hand. Note at the beginning of my personal journal for 2024 "don't buy ANY unnecessary card making items this year". I plan to stick to that as much as possible. Great video!!
Thank you for your honest inspiration and tutorials. I am off to the shop but without leaving my home and not clicking on the Internet! Stash shopping a new activity!! ❤
Great examples for stencils and paste! I use a plastic container with water and soap nearby to hold my stencils until I'm done so I can wash them all at once. The soapy water helps keep the paste loose for easier cleaning.
That's a great tip - I don't trust myself to not slosh it everywhere - I'll have to put some thought into that because it could really change my attitude about pastes! lol! Thanks for watching!
I’m doing the same thing. I realized I had become a collector and not as much a crafter. So much mixed media, dies, stencils, embossing folders, ink, well you get it. Have a good week. Hugs💕
I love this idea of shopping from your stash. I'm actually embarrassed to count how many unused items I have ... I have a feeling it's more than the used items! Loved all of your cards!
Great video -- great uses of color and showing how it changes up the look from one background to another. And I agree with others who have commented that dealing with the occasional "ooopps" is not as difficult as it first seems!
Another fantastic video! Gosh, I love them all. Thanks for so many tips! I love the one for turning the bottom of the thanks die into an edger die. You are an amazing teacher; a pleasure to listen to, and just amazingly creative. ❤
Great cards...great challenge! I don't even want to count the number of unused crafting items I have. Since the beginning of June I've been going through all the supplies in my craft room--can't believe what I've found. I've started by creating cards with my unused ephemera and 6x6 paper pads. Over 100 cards now ready for a charitable craft fair in the Fall.
I'm definitely up for this challenge. I have been entering all my supplies into Airtable and have been working on adding my stencils. I have SO many that I've never used so i want to take a day and just make stenciled backgrounds and use these stencils. I love how easy you make it look to create such beautiful cards. I have way more than 68 items that I've not used yet!!🙄 So thanks for the motivation to get them inky!!!😊
Ok after seeing that Simon has some new yummy bright pastes out omgoodness it looks like it’s a must have. lol The cards you made are beautiful. Tfs ❤😊
I’m sure you’ll figure out what’s best. But when I get ready to use stencils and pull out 4-5 at once, I use a hand towel laid long ways hanging half off the table with a square baking pan with soapy water laying ontop of the half towel still on the table. So I can put the stencil in the soapy water and go to the next one and if I want to use it again I can lay it on the towel, flip up the end of the towel and dry it. If that makes sense. It works great so I don’t have to walk.
That definitely makes sense, but I do not want that much water sloshing around in my room! lol! I'll have to develop a habit that works for me if I'm going to continue using these pastes, which I'd like to do.
@@ardyth I have a big long table so it’s not in the way at all. Haven’t spilled it yet. Walking with it’s more risky but you have to have a good size area. I have 2 of those 5 foot sturdy plastic tables from Sam’s club and they sit parallel. One is my work area for everything except inking and things like that. I just turn around and do that on a huge old glass cutting board on the table behind me. My inks are all there and my die cutting.
Right at the beginning I had to stop and say how amazed I am at your ability to organize on the computer so well that you know exactly what you haven’t used!-68 particular things! I know when I look at it and I’ve started pulling things out too! I have some paired with backgrounds to use and the ones I’ll never use or have one just like it but better I’m taking the other out as I see it. I’ve been dying to get time to crash my stash! I just don’t have time doing it all on my own and disabled. But I’ve been in the mood for months! Must be going around like the flu! Lol
Wow Ardyth. Even though I watch all or most of your stencil videos, your think outside the box techniques leave me in awe. Since I do have one or two stencils, I haven't used, I will have to try them out in particular trying paste through them. Thanks so much for the great video and the encouragement to try new things. ❤ 🇨🇦 😊
Absolutely love this idea. I’m switching craft rooms to make room for a son coming home for college and boy do I have a mess. Also I have A LOT of unused “new” products! It’s a bit embarrassing and sad. Thank you for this challenge
I am doing a major purge of everything in my craft room. I have created a category for myself called “use in 2024 and destash”. Your “use your stash” plan is a great way for me to use these and move on. Thanks, Ardyth! I am onboard.
Yay! Can't wait to see what you make! I do have some unused goodies that have been around for a while, so I'm open to the possibility that I may use them this summer and decide not to keep them. It's going to be an adventure!
Loving these cards! So simple, yet so effective! I wish we were hitting 30C at the moment! Currently in Australia, I'm in the minus of the morning and lucky to hit 10C some days! Brrr. Good excuse to be in the craft room and trying some of these techniques! Thanks for sharing!
I NEED to do this challenge but won't start until July 1st. I love how you used the stencils. I think my favorite is what you did on the black paper with the neon. It looks SO COOL.
I have a few stencils that look like they’re made to turn. I love the lime and blue! Great cards! I have yet to make a card with just a stencil. I love the look but I’m so used to more it’s hard to just stop at one technique for me. I like how you ink over the pattern. And how you cut out of your card panel for a 2 for 1! I still haven’t tried. When I get done adding to my plainer panels, I don’t want to cut them up! Lol
I have lots of unused supplies. I don't even remember why I bought some of them! I know I can't be the only person who has done that! I am really going to try to play with some of these items this summer and discover why I thought they were so great in the first place!
I figure by going through, I may actually end up realizing that some of these unused items are unused because I don't want to keep them. I think that's ok - it's all a process. We do the best we can with the information we have at the time. At least that's what I'm telling myself! lol! Thanks for watching!
I am saving for Stamptember, so using my stash all summer long. I need to make some dragonfly cards for my stash, and they work well for masculine cards. Two for one, so to speak. I am also going to take out previously bought but used maybe once stamps, and make Christmas cards with them. I have a couple of stencils from Tim Holtz I haven't used, will use those for backgrounds on the cards.
I love this video and all of your cards! I already cheated on the "shop your stash" because I bought a 6x6 paper pad today. I needed (wanted) some complementary pattern papers to use together. I, too, have several stencils I haven't used, but you've inspired me. Thank you!
Haha! I don't think that's cheating. (and not just because I also ordered a couple of new things yesterday). It's all about balance and enjoying our hobby! Thanks for watching!
I’m doing the shop my stash as well. Except my monthly hero art set. As I’m with you, I have two bins of items that I still haven’t used and it’s ridiculous that I was still buying more when I have stuff I’ve either not used, or not given enough love. Another great video Ardyth!
Ardyth, I have been using my stash... I started in January and that was my goal. It is so much fun. I love your creativity and always feel inspired after one of your videos. My health has not been the best, so I have to get moving or Christmas cards will not make it.....I have lots of unused Christmas stash.... Take care and thanks.
I've been wanting to mix mica powder in my homemade texture paste and you've inspired me to put that first on my To Do list. I'll try different colors to see if they work out as nicely as yours did. You're one of my absolute favorite cardmakers because you always make me see possibilities.
Just brought a ton of stencils. I had no clue what to do with them. Seeing your video I now have some idea of what to try. Love your cards and thanks for sharing
This year I've been trying to use up a six by six pad every month. I'm also using lots of stamp sets and marking them as having been used this year. It helps me see shat stamps can be donated if I'm still not using them. I've only bought card bases and envelopes this year for the most part. I did buy items for a few online classes and shopped the CTMH close out sale. I'm spending a lot less and each month even less.
Yes I will be shopping my stash this summer. I have to many things not used including products like paste and other things also. What an amazing challenge this summer!
I love how you’re always experimenting and trying new things. I also like how much you use stencils, I think they make a huge impact on cards. I’m trying to organize my card making supplies, they have gotten totally out of hand and I also have lots of things I haven’t used. I hope to try shopping my stash and using them soon! Thanks for the ideas and inspiration 💕
Always love your cars. I also love how you how it's ok if you get mistakes and how to deal with them. I have quite a few stencils and full stamps I haven't used yet.
Thanks so much, Becci - if I didn't show mistakes, I wouldn't have much to show at all some days! lol! Most of them are salvagable! Thanks for dropping by!
Hi. Ardyth. It's nice to see a fellow Canadian 🇨🇦 stamper here on RU-vid. Can you make a video on Canadian card-making suppliers or stores where you shop for supplies?
Hi there! I would try Penguin Palace Stamps, Scrap'n'Stamp, Glitter and Ink, Ecstasy Crafts, PaperCrafter's Workshop. Those are the ones I know best in Canada. Thanks for watching!
As always, so many terrific ideas for inspiration, TY!! We are just still unpacking after a big move so I am having fun ‘discovering’ lots of my never used items as I unpack and set up my new space. I like the idea of challenging myself to only use things I have for the summer!! 🧑🏼🎨😀
My goal this year is the same Ardyth,to use all the goodies I've bought! Your cards are gorgeous (& they always are:) thanks for sharing.Ann in New Zealand. P.S. It's midwinter here, brrr.xx
Oh boy. Let's trade. I definitely do not enjoy the heat, although to be fair, here in Toronto, it doesn't stay this hot for too long. Thanks for watching!
Great video, and although I don’t keep track of my tools like you, I know I have a serious amount of unused tools. And when I watch your work and how you use those amazing stencils… it makes me greedy and I want those stencils too!! But I am going to shop my stash and work with unused stencils. Then I can use dies or stamps or embossing folders… enough choices, LOL!! Thank you for sharing your ideas👍
Oooh I really like that tropical hero arts stencil! I have the perfect sentiment set for the 70’s feel cards! I bought the one I showed you a while back from SBC. It looks perfect with that geometric but again, haven’t used it.
@@ardyth Im hoping to get into my room this week. I’ll take a photo of it and DM you on IG. I really think you would get a lot of use out of it! A lot! I’m pretty sure I know what you like now because I like your style so much. I’ll send the pic this week. Great cards really great! And the rocker? 🤯🤯🤯🤯
I’m in , on the stash-busting, use those unopened items initiative…I like your idea of the inventory document, but afraid to get started at this point! Maybe your switchover video will give me courage😅
Great video Ardyth! I’ve been meaning to purge my at home store. 😂 I have a lot of 6 x 6 patterned paper packs that I started tackling. Next up dies and Christmas stamps. Christmas in July for me.
Love your channel!! Yes I will be shopping my stash this summer. I have to many things not used including products like paste and other things also. What an amazing challenge this summer!
Thanks for sharing. Great cards. You are so right, I have loads of stuff I have purchased and not used & still buying more! I am going to make an effort to not buy anything this month. Thanks for the well needed therapy 😀
Thanks for a great and helpful video! I'm subscribed and have watched many but this is my first comment. I must be dense because I didn't grasp that your 4.25 inch square cards would fit in an A2 envelope and can be mailed at no additional cost. Thanks for helping that sink in!
LOL! You are definitely not dense and definitely not the only one who has thought that I had a special stash of small square envelopes somewhere! Thanks for watching (and commenting!)
I love this (&need to do it too! )LOVE the colors!! So, do you prefer CP party inks or spa inks better? I’m slloowwllyy adding to my party collection first. I like that you use a broad variety of products from different companies. And I love that you’re shopping your stash!
Love your cards..fabulous! My problem is resisting sales! Makers Movement has everything for a dollar! My local Savers (thrift) had a ton of Close to my heart stamp/die sets for $2 each. I tell myself "don't be an idiot, of course you should buy them at that price!" I could shopmy stash for a year! 😐
I have a location field in my Airtable and I've finally gotten good enough at figuring out where an item will be filed that I don't have the huge lists of unfiled products (which also means I have a mess on my desk if I haven't figured out where to store things). Now I'm not sure I want a 'have I used it' field BUT I do make notes in my description field of where and when I've used something. I don't like sending duplicates or similar themes to people. What do you mean you hadn't used that Tim Holtz Atomic die! I love that die. I made some neon lunar paste backgrounds and I'm still trying to figure out how to tone them down because they are bright! I have a tendency to use my stash and then order something so I can get the perfect sentiment or whatever. I'll get there...someday.
Haha! I have a whole video planned about that Atomic Die set. I love it too, but when there's that many pieces, I get intimidated. Thanks so much for watching!
I love it too - definitely one of my best ever purchases. It seems like it's been discontinued (I got mine at scrapbook. com) but some smaller shops may still have stock. We R Memory Keepers Rotating Platform. Good luck!
Love your cards but especially the 2nd ( berry star circles) Incidently..I happened upon this video scrolling FB Received no notice today. Be well jean
Hi Jean! When you say 'received no notice' do you mean from RU-vid? I sent an email this afternoon - you may have received it after you watched? Thanks for watching!
@ardyth I did receive notifications from RU-vid hours later. I first noticed your post scrolling FB..so I went to Y.T. to watch. No notification. Great video BTW...hours later notification appeared on my feed. Also a funny thing with the FB post..it wouldn't allow me to watch without signing in...I never sign in..and watch crafting and animal videos all the time...that's why I went to Y.T. to watch..something funky going on with platforms...j
I have some of the big ink brushes like that I’ve never tried and brushes take a while to load up with color before they start to let it go on the paper. I have way too many inking tools and since I don’t get to use them all, idk which I like best! I have pouncets, small brushes of 2 types and 5 sizes! It’s crazy! I’m trying to use new things too from now on or take it to the sale pile. Lol which I’ll never have. It’s funny that I’m not a clutter person at all very minimalist actually but I have so much extra card stuff. It’s sad I guess, not really funny as I sacrifice too much to get things I can’t use due to too much other work and disability slowing me down.
Hi Denise - I think it's ok to collect things you love. It's probably better if you can get some use out of them, but if keeping them gives you pleasure because of the potential, then that's right for you. I am trying to use my stash, but I will purchase new things if I really love them. I want my card making to be fun, and not restrictive or guilt-inducing - I think just looking around and knowing you have the right amount of stuff for YOU is the most important thing. I'm still working on finding that balance! Thanks for watching!
@@ardyth thank you Ardyth. I appreciate that advice. You’re so kind, just a delightful person. With not having much time to make cards that has really been the cause to buying so many things that I’ll probably never use and of course I have a couple oopsies where I bought 2 Holly dies or something. But this past year, even 6 months, I’ve been making a true hard effort to get time in there and not the only day I have off from all the responsibilities. But fun time. And I’m starting to see what I truly like and what isn’t my thing. There’s always some things that I don’t care for but bought to make for a certain person, but Ardyth, I think I have 6 stencils that have hearts! LOL!😝 and I am NOT a cutesy girl. I’m very modern in my design likes. So I just can’t wait for the day when I can go through and get rid of so much! And THEN like you, buy what I really like. At first I just bought tons from watching RU-vid and whatever they were using I’d buy it. I never knew who I was creatively until I’ve just now spent enough time to figure it out. It’s a huge epiphany! 💡 like the new dies I bought from spell binders are really much more my style! And as I tell you all the time, I love everything you have and make! I’m not just saying that. I have a very modern home and very minimalist, and …… circles! Yes! Circles everywhere in my home decorating wise! So I think I’ll start finding my “voice” or myself now and there will be a shift to more minimal designs, some mixed media but just more modern. As long as the industry will keep making things more modern. It’s not easy to find to be honest!!! Right? You are a wonderful creator and person and I enjoy you and your channel so much! Thank you! My hummingbird card is posted on IG now. I’d love your feedback! You’re the best! ❤️
I am sorry. Don't think I see your video about Airtable. I am really loooking for the right app to catalog my inventory. What is the link please? Great video!! Thank you!
Hi there - it should have been visible in the top right corner of the screen in the last 10 or 15 seconds of this video - maybe I did something wrong? Here's the direct link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZOxvTf095-k.html Thanks for watching!
LOL! Apparently there is, but I didn't know, so I did it manually. It took a while, but it really helped remind me what I have and what needed to be used (or sold).
Try a cheap turntable from amazon and that should work in a similar way. I see scrapbook still has the circular mat if you want to get that to attach to another turntable. Thanks for watching!
@Janedgcomb 4348--- Truly summed up my thoughts regarding your creativity, eye for color, your designs, your techniques, and your encouragement. Thank you!
Yes I will be shopping my stash this summer. I have to many things not used including products like paste and other things also. What an amazing challenge this summer!
