I count the days from one shopcast to the next and I must say, #205 has been a favorite and one I will watch again. Emma's bit on spinning was fascinating and Deborah's interview was FASCINATING. I have not as yet purchased any of her yarn from you but I have now added some to my cart and can hardly wait to touch and feel this ancient breed of yarn.
What a jam packed episode! Loved seeing your and Maggie’s sweater WIPs. And an appearance by Cockatoo Brae. Just beautiful. Great segments from Kelsey and Emma. And the interview with Deborah was fascinating! Even yoga. Loved every bit.
I love every shopcast. This episode was especially fascinating with your interview with Deborah of Armscote Manor. Since I live in Savannah, GA, I loved hearing Deborah's stories of Savannah. Her mention of the Bull St library is just around the corner from my house. I felt such a connection, and I love it!
The segment with Deborah was fascinating. She could do a great PBS special about her home and the sheep. Would love to see more like this. Thank you for bringing her to us.
What an inspirational episode! I loved Emma's cardi and Corinne's Cockatoo Brae. And I'm really looking forward to the Fuzzypegs socks. Deborah from Armscote Manor was so interesting--loved the history. Thanks ladies!
This was a wonderful show. Kelsey is such a source of knowledge- in the future it would be interesting if she talked about the way wool is spun ( woolen spun etc. )in the future. Emma's cardigan is great, so inspirational. I could have listened to Deborah all day. maggie and Corrine you bring it all together. Thank you for making my afternoon.
Every morning I get my RU-vid subscriptions for new uploads that I want to watch and add them to my "watch later" playlist. When I see a Woolly Thistle episode I move it straight to the top of the playlist. Then I can settle in with my knitting, press play on the playlist and enjoy. Your podcast brings me joy,. It's always upbeat fun with beautiful things to see and new things to learn. Thank you.
Deborah's story was so interesting and enjoyable. I felt transported. Emma's cardigan was incredibly impressive. Kelsey is so knowledgeable about yarn structure. I always learn something. Seemed like a well-balanced episode. Thanks!!
This was such an informative episode. I loved Kelsey’s segment. I think I would love to see how she sets up her notions. Both her home stash and for going out and about. She is so practical and knowledgeable and absolutely credible with her stash and ideas. Emma’s jacket is so excellent. Finally, learning about breeds and processing makes the use and choice of yarns and colors much better and successful. Off to loosen up! Take care ladies.
OMG, I think this is my favorite episode ever! The discussion with Deborah was fascinating. I’m going to circulate this among my friends. Many thanks!! Eileen
What a fascinating conversation with Deborah from Armscote Manor!!! I loved hearing more about the history and how she got involved with sheep. I also really like Kelsey's segment about substituting yarn. It's always fun to learn something new. Thank you for such great videos!
greetings from Iceland, where it is always sweater weather, but especially this morning, it's 0°C on the thermometer! and i'll be helping a neighbor rounding up her sheep today, so will be chasing wool instead of knitting it. fascinating interview with Deborah, and those beautiful sheep! love the golden faces!
The interview with Deborah was so interesting - such a wealth of historical knowledge and stories. Fits right in with the podcast I've been listening to, The History of English, by Kevin Stroud. Thanks for all the wonderful content you share with us - you guys are the best.
I really enjoyed this podcast - so much knitting inspiration! The interview w Ms. Williams @ Armscote Manor was fascinating (her Portland sheep are soooo cute!). Emma's Scandi sweater was gorgeous & has me toying with knitting one. And the FuzzyPeg socks! That vest in Moorit #5 w all the loops is neat - I've added it to my TWT wish list 🤓
Thank you so much, Kelsey and Emma, for all the educational stuff! I am already fearlessly mixing different yarns together, but it's good to have a reminder of the simple yards per gram calculation. My favorite moment of this episode was Emma's demonstration of the barber cords, topped off by her joyful expression when she realized her sweater fits perfectly.
Dear Woolly Thistle. Today's interview with Deborah of Armscote Manor was fascinating. You go the extra mile to bring us people who keep the history and magic of sheep to yarn present. Brava!
On Repeat… Another lovely, informative, fun episode!!! Even tho Emma didn’t finish a sweater in 3 days (gasp!!!), I still enjoy listening to the process/es! I have Joji’s S.S. sweater in my queue (one of a gazillion), and it looks Terrific on every person! Fantastic history lesson re Armscote yarns/sheep! Thanks for all you do for Wool and Knitters/Crafters!!

I so look forward to your podcasts! Kelsey is so knowledgeable and has true "knitting wisdom" that she graciously shares with us. Emma is how I found TWT, starting me on the habit of wooly yarn. I want so many things--and need to get a lot knit already, most of them in TWT bags, including the Fortrose hat and mittens!! My knitting has improved exponentially because of your classes, your podcasts, and the help you all are when I get totally lost and ask a question. Thank you every one!
Lead diamond windows and stone mullions and Jacobites and Guy Fawkes---what more does one need of a rebel morning! And those steep roofs! Are you accepting tenants? :) Thank you for the wonderful architectural and Portland sheep history addition to today's shopcast, Deborah. So wonderfully educational. Thank you, TWT, for bringing the isles to us once again.
Thanks to Caitlyn for reviewing substitutions, Congratulations on finishing the Setastol (?) cardigan it's gorgeous! Again ladies as always great podcast, always fun. Great new things
A very enjoyable shopcast. I was able to knit several rounds on my Sarkle sweater while listening to it. The interview with Deborah was very interesting and thanks to Emma I now know how to use my Barber cords!
Today was another wonderful podcast filled with history, chats, yoga and craft tips!! I love when TWT is magically incorporated into our daily lives! Deborah’s mention of Savannah GA was amazing, the city is beautiful and a fun weekend trip for me here in the coastal South (I brought many WIPs while there.) I am so glad she mentioned the Armscot Manor-related mural at the library and Telfair Museum. I am definitely going to check it out next week…it truly is a small world!
This was an exception podcast! Listening to Deborah and her wealth of knowledge was a rare treat indeed! I hope she has plans to document her knowledge of her home, sheep and gardens. always enjoy hearing from Kelsey and Emma and Kim's yoga has been so helpful. Thank you for all you do for us!

A rainy day in Montana. I get to sit and watch the Woolly Thistle podcast while my puppy chews on his bone. Love love learning about all the woolly yarns! A treat.
What an educational Shopcast. It is reassuring to hear that there are people who are committed to our environment and maintaining and preserving animals in such a manner. Appreciate the info from Emma, Kelsey and Kim. Thanks to you and your crew.
There is something about the Shetland Wool Week annual that just excites me every year! It is the heritage, the modernity, the colours and the wool... it is all so good.
Fascinating interview with Deborah. I love all of the history of the sheep, the manor, the gardens. So wonderful that she is maintaining a flock of such rare sheep.
An excellent podcast which I enjoyed immensely. Deborah is to be commended for the conservation work she is doing to save these rare endangered breeds. Knitting with and wearing the final product knit with Armscote Manor yarn is truly an enjoyable experience, and it is my great pleasure to support Deborah’s efforts and vision through the purchase of her yarn.
Welcome to my Friday :) I really look forward to the Woolley Thistle shopcast. I started my Buggiflooer Beanie and my first project with Jamieson and Smith yarn. Let's see where the rabbit hole takes me today
I always look forward to the shopcast, and it is a bright spot in my day 😊. I also have to let you know that my 10 month old granddaughter loves your opening music, and dances along to it! Emma's Setastal Jacket is incredible! I'm looking forward to buying her pattern when she publishes it. Can't wait to see Emma's Super Simple in person at Wool & Folk.
Thank you! I was not planning to publish this as a pattern but I would be more than happy to write up a recipe for folks to follow with charts if they would like.
Oh my gosh! The history Deborah described of Armscote Manor is so fascinating. I feel like the yarn I have is so rare and valuable. I can't wait to knit with it. I hope you have Deborah back again someday. Thank you!
Loved Deborah’s discussion in the Armscote Manor interview. Kelsey’s discussion on what to consider when combining leftover yarns was fantastic 🎉 great to inspire unexpected combinations
I loved Kelsey’s section on Substituting Yarn & Using Scraps. I started to knit a bit of colorwork on socks and I am always surprised at how little yardage in needs. Great way to use scraps. Fun, fun Shopcast as always. Very enjoyable interview from Armscote Manor lots of things to learn. Love my weekends when I can knit and watch tThe Woolly Thistle!
Wow, I loved the interview about the Portland sheep and Armscote Manor. It was very interesting to hear all the history Deborah talked about. I couldn't believe how much she does (sheep farmer, gardener, teaching young women to do the gardening to earn a living, etc.). She must stay very, very busy! I loved hearing about all of it. It was just wonderful!
Another great shopcast! Kelsey’s information was incredibly practical and helpful. Also, the Armscote Manor discussion on supporting rare sheep breeds was heartwarming. I’m sure a labor of love for them. I so appreciate the probably-not-so-minor effort you put into producing these shopcasts! ❤❤❤
Thanks so much! It's definitely a team effort, but (you can probably tell) we enjoy it! We were just discussing the cute-factor of the Portland sheep this morning.
Kelsey has again hit the ball out of the park! Spectacular information; I’m so glad you are also offering those segments as separate shorter ones on your channel. Thank you thank you.
The interview with Deborah was wonderful. I wish there was an opportunity to listen to a longer episode with her. I learned so much and realize that there is so much more she could share with your audience. Please invite her back again.
Another wonderful episode! I loved every section of it but especially the sweet sweet photos of the Portland sheep. I Love seeing Corinne and Maggie's knitted garments! You both are fabulous! Kelsey's segment was very interesting and informative. Now I understand how to mathematically measure my BITS of yarn. I look forward to every new RU-vid podcast! I do admit that it is hard to wait 2 weeks for a new one.
Wow, such a great interview with Deborah Williams. I learned sooooo much, and now I know I just have to go visit those sheep some day! Thanks for bringing such an interesting guest to the shopcast!
The Armscote Manor chat stole the show! I could listen to a segment triple that length with Deborah - SO interesting!! I know you often mention Portland sheep and the Doomsday Book on the show, so it was great to get to see some Portlands and learn more about them!
